Best place to stay in Kenosha, Wisconsin?
Question:
New to area, looking for new or newly-renovated 2-bedroom apartment/townhome, max rent $700, I don't have a car so need to be able to walk or bus to Metra station, also would like to be close to some of these: library, parks, shopping. If you live in Kenosha and know the town, please advise.

Answer:
Try not to rent right downtown - there are some dangerous areas there - if you are very close to the harbor you should be okay - otherwise go to the southside or northside - safest and nicest - most have excellent bus service google Kenosha and look at some of the areas... I live here and like it pretty well...welcome to town! try the Chamber of Commerce for info after you get here!

Best least weedy Racine/ Kenosha Wisconsin inland lakes to fish.?
Question:
I want to take my gf out in my small (1974 14' alumacraft) fishing boat tomorrow, 9-10-11. Just looking for a decent lake with a public launch and car/trailer parking. We are not too serious into fishing. The both of go out with a can of worms and bobbers to see what will bite. Last weekend we went to Eagle lake and it was a nightmare. It was mucked up with weeds to the point where I could barely get past the launch. I am just looking for a relaxing lake to catch w/e and have fun on.

Answer:
Maybe you can give a few bait shops in the area a call and see if they have any info to give to you. Good luck. Happy fishing.

im am looking to buy my first car and looking through cars.com need some help?
Question:
i have a spending limit of around $7,000 i want to finance. I like in kenosha wisconsin area code 53142 is some people could help with some searching. I have good credit and i just don't want a hassle i can't afford such as a car that im gonna need to repair a lot with all those miles on it. Can anyone help me look for a car and give some advice for reliable cars with such high mileage

Answer:
Well, I don't normally like piggy-backing off of another respondent's answer but V-tech has a good idea. I bought a 2005 Mazda 3 with 40,000 miles on it for $8,000 out the door. I know that's a bit above your price line but I'm sure you could adjust the mileage/price in your favor since Mazda just released the new 3 model. It's proven reliable so far (through two Michigan winters and constant stop-and-go Detroit traffic), it's got plenty of juice when you need it and the body holds up unexpectedly well against corrosion, dents and scratches. Also, it's a blast to drive. I don't work for Mazda and I've got no financial reason to argue their craftsmanship but I've got to say: they make a fine midsize automobile. I'd search kbb.com for local offerings. Just a suggestion. Good luck with your search.

Travelling to Kenosha, WI - restaurant, etc. recommendations?
Question:
I'm taking my daughter (a high school senior) to Kenosha, WI on a college visit to to check out Carthage College. We will be spending 3 days in Kenosha - flying in to Milwaukee and renting a car. I've only been to Wisconsin once, and have never been to Milwaukee, let alone Kenosha, so I know absolutely NOTHING(zippo!) about Kenosha. Can anyone tell me anything at all about Kenosha? Are there any good places to eat in town that aren't national chain restaurants? Is Kenosha a safe town, or are there bad parts of town to avoid? Are there any "touristy" things to see in the area? Or is it just urban sprawl? Where are the main shopping areas in town? Any info at all would be welcome, as I know absolutely nothing about it...

Answer:
Kenosha is an old time farm town on the lake. It is a small city but has a small town feeling. The area by the lake is beautiful and well maintained. Do you remember American Motors? It made Nash Ramblers, the famous Ambassador, Hornet, AMX, Metropolitan and the imfamous Pacer, Gremlin and Metropolitan. The assembly Plant was in Kenosha. Now there's a Chrysler engine assebly plant in Kenosha but I think it may not be in operation. The most popular restaurant is The Brat Stop. How much would it cost if in 2 years i took a van to California?
Question:
im living in kenosha, wisconsin and i already looked on mapstar and google maps but the variable is im going to leave in 2 years, im just trying to get my information earlier so i dont rush through it in the future and miss something. what im trying to do is leave from kenosha, wisconsin to eureka, California. what i want to know is, what type of car should i use if im going with 2 other people? (im suggesting a van/mini bus) how much would it cost hotels/snacks/gas etc. for me and two other people? and how long would it take if we drove around 12 hours a day and stopped and slept in the van? thanks.

Answer:
It's about 37 hours of drive time. Figure about 3-4 days. This is really impossible to figure out, since we don't know what the price of gas will be in 4 years, nor do we know the mileage of your vehicle. Gas could be $2 or $6 per gallon, we just don't know. The distance won't change, that's 2300 miles. Let's say you get 20 mpg in the vehicle, so that's 115 gallons. At $2 per gallon, that's $230. At $5 per gallon, that's $575. Three nights of motels should be around $300. Food: If you eat cheap, let's say $30 per person per day, so about $120. Total: $650- $895. Figure on an even $1000. Sleeping in a minivan is VERY uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend it. Better to get a cheap motel.

Can I sue him for the cost of my tickets?
Question:
I live in Kenosha, Wisconsin and I'm 17 years old. A couple of months ago, I was with my friend and he decided to egg a car. He told me to throw an egg, so I took one and totally missed the car. The car then decided to get out and come at our car with baseball bats so we drove away, they then followed us. We finally lost them and state clear of them for a little bit. My friend then decided to go back and see if they were there, and they were and followed us again. This time they hit my friends car. He filed a police report and it's been going on since November. I just now got a ticket and I didn't even do anything. There was also another incident where he decided to key somebody's car, and I stayed in the car. I got another ticket for that as well. Can I sue him? And win? Both incidents I was against and told him not to do, but he didn't listen and I couldnt get away from them.

Answer:
No, you are under 18, you can't file a law suit. If you can convince your parents, they can on your behalf. You don't have to prove anything to sue. However you have a losing case. Even you admit to throwing an egg. The fact that you missed means nothing, you participated in the crime. You are just as guilty as he is.

Trains and Buses from Naval Station, IL to WI?
Question:
My husband is in Great Lakes right now, and we can't take our car (its a piece of crap) to go get him anymore, so we need to rely on the train or maybe a bus. I know there is one that goes to Kenosha, but I was wondering if there is one nearby that would go higher than Kenosha. Like to the Milwaukee area, or any trains he could transfer from to get to Milwaukee or closer to Washington County? And which one would be faster to get to Wisconsin?

Answer:
Amtrak runs between Chicago and Milwaukee 7 times a day, with a stop in Glenview IL. Unfortunately, there isn't a direct train route from Great Lakes to Glenview (all the routes I tried suggested bus connections in Evanston) so it's probably quicker to take Metra to downtown Chicago and Amtrak back up to Milwaukee.

should i buy a used hybrid honda civic with over 190,000 miles on it?
Question:
Should i buy a used hybrid honda civic with over 180,000 miles on it? The car is a 2003 USED Honda Civic Hybrid It has a little over 190,000 miles on it The car was a single-owner trade in at a reputable dealer (Honda of Kenosha, WI) The price on autotrader.com is 4,760 I have researched a lot about the car and can't find much information about what happens after 180,000 miles. I want to know if this would be a good or bad buy. I need a reliable car because I live in Wisconsin and go to school in Minnesota so when I drive home for holidays it is about 235 miles. I also work about 30 miles from where I live, so the car pretty much cannot break down. Any suggestions? I have only driven Hondas and I know they are reliable but i don't want to spend 4,600 dollars on a car that is just going to need a 3,000 dollar replacement in 2 months. Unfortunately i have to be hasty because i go back to school on January 10th and i need a car. i totaled my 2003 honda pilot last week (over 180,000 miles, still worked great) and only have a certain amount of money to spend because of what i got from insurance. i did not settle too easily with insurance. according to kelley blue book my pilot was worth 4500 at best. we got a LOT more than we should have from insurance. we have a very good family friend who is a mechanic who will be looking at whatever car i decide on during the 3-day period we get to take it back (which i think is a law in wisconsin or something) and if he doesn't think it's up to par then we'll take it back. i don't want people telling me i did something wrong or there is a better way of going about this... i just want to know if there is any information out there or personal experience as to whether or not this would be a good or a bad buy.

Answer:
I wouldn't touch it.
