What is the name of the city in Brazil that has streets for cars without cross walks or dividing lines?
Question:
I've heard of a city in Brazil whose streets are very dangerous because they don't divide the cars into lanes or have stop lights or anything. There's also a lot of architecture in this city and it's divided into residential areas, business areas, etc. I've forgotten the name, however. Help, please?

Answer:
I'm live in Brazil and I never listen about this... There are cities where the streets and stop lights are with problems... Really I don't Known about this =/ I Think this is a lie about Brazil... I known about Bohmte City, in Deutsch... In Bohmte City there aren't stop lights or anything, because the EU ask this. Find this in Google. Bye, PS: sorry, maybe my writting isn't very good, because I'm amateur in the english language...

2 cars are on opposite sides of a road trying to turn into the same lane. Who has the right of way?
Question:
When you are exiting a parking lot and someone at an exit directly opposite you on the other side of the road is doing the same thing. You are both trying to turn into the same lane/ go the same direction. Car #1 has to make a right turn to enter the lane. Car #2 has to make a left turn and cross and oncoming lane of traffic to get into the same lane. Who has the right of way, Car #1 or Car #2? Yes in America.

Answer:
Car 1 has right of way. Vehicles turning left are at the bottom the the pecking order unless signage or a police officer is indicating otherwise.

What are some examples on how right-hand cars change lanes after crossing borders? and vice versa?
Question:
I currently reside in Canada, and I had known that Great Britain and some of its former colonies have left-hand traffic. That is, they drive on the left side of roads, and drivers are seated in the right side of a vehicle. What is the origin and history behind this? Also, if Englishmen / Englishwomen are to drive across the English Channel, will they be able to drive smoothly in France? Which companies manufacture such cars? Please feel free to type down any relevant facts. Thanks in advance for all of your help. And, if you have droven like this (or vice versa, ) please describe your experience, if possible. @Ken K No, it's not. You have no reason/proof to say so. This is simply out of my curiousity. If you do not know the answer, then don't even bother answering. @Yikes: Thank you for this very interesting piece of information. It does explain why they are in a right-hand policy.

Answer:
The history to that is that in King Arthur's Camelot when knights like Sir Lancelot would go into battle and joust they would usually hold their swords in their right hand because statistically most people were right handed. Therefore when riding on horseback they would always pass their enemies on the left to do battle. If they passed on the right they would have to swing their swords across their body, making it more difficult and leaving their body vulnerable for their opponent to kill them. Later on with peacetime carriage journeys, passing on the left just followed naturally because the knights would still pass on the left.

Question:
Suppose you are about to cross a pedestrian lane. The stoplight has just signaled that you can already cross the street. Is it ok to cross over the double yellow lines to get out the carpool lane?
Question:
I know you are not suppose to cross over them to get into to the car pool lane, but I was wondering is it ok to cross over them to get out if your exit is coming and they do not break for another mile? I live in California if that helps any.

Answer:
NO. Double solid lines: No vehicle may pass. Broken yellow line: May pass if movement can be made in safely. If you have two sets of solid double yellow lines spaced two or more feet part are considered a barrier. You are not supposed to drive on or over this barrier or make a left turn or a U-turn across it except at designated openings.

is it legal to cross a 6 lane road when it doesnt have a crosswalk?
Question:
I got to cross this road to get to work. I wouldnt want to get a ticket for jay walking. I would only go when it looks safe. Theres a median in the middle. Cars travel in packs so there would be times when I could walk accross the road safely.

Answer:
It varies by state but generally if it is at an intersection, you can usually cross the road if there are no signs saying to the contrary. If you have really long blocks, you can usually cross between intersections. z

Do joggers have come first before cars?
Question:
I was driving and going to make a left at a left turn lane which I was far away from because the light was red at which it turned green so I continue to go and as I am completing the turn, this Jogger runs in front of my car through the cross walk without looking to see if any more cars were going to go make the turn. My car was an inch from making her fly away so she hits my car with her umbrella. If my car would have hit her, who's fault would it have been? Copied and pasted this from http://wiki.answers.com/Q/When_do_pedestrians_have_the_right- of-way_over_motor_vehicles This section does not relieve a pedestrian from the duty of using due care for his or her safety. No pedestrian may suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle that is so close as to constitute an immediate hazard. No pedestrian may unnecessarily stop or delay traffic while in a marked or unmarked crosswalk.

Answer:
sadly, yours. these idiots always have the right of way, and they can use it however they want to. they shouldn't but they do.

Is it illegal to cross the street if the traffic lights aren't working?
Question:
Well I HAD to cross the street and it was about an 8-lane street on all sides, but the traffic lights weren't working. They were all blinking red and cars were going all directions. It looked scary, but I REALLY NEEDED to cross and I managed to run across. But is it illegal that I did that? The traffic lights on all 4 sides of the intersection were broken... and about the pedestrian's right of way?

Answer:
blinking red signal means car must stop check for cross traffic and pedestrians you treat the signal as a stop sign its not illegal either to cross the street either
