What To Do In Uncontrolled Intersections In WASHINGTON?
Question:
I'm taking my drivers test in about a week in Renton and I'm curious about what to do in an uncontrolled intersection (no stop signs or stop lights) because there are so many up there. My questions are these: 1) If approaching an uncontrolled T intersection but there is no stop sign, do you need to make a "full legal stop"? Or can you just slow, watch for cars and proceed as long as there are none? and 2) If approaching an uncontrolled + intersection, should you stop at all? I've been taught to just slow down, make sure no cars are coming, and then just proceed through the intersection when clear. Correct? THANKS IN ADVANCE

Answer:
the law says you have to let cars coming from your right go through intersections first, but signs, lights etc. tell you what to do at intersections and there aren't any in either example and being safe is the bottom line, so stop as needed...

should request mitigation hearing or contested, im not sure if im wrong or right?
Question:
so i got pulled over while borrowing my brothers car and got a ticket for no proof of liability at the moment, i just couldn't find it, it wasnt placed where it usually is but i did show the officer a bunch of expired ones which he didn't buy into..but the car is insured so anyways he wrote me a ticket anyway, i called the court they said i could get it dismissed if i just bring the insurance card that covers for the date of the ticket, now i did that and here is the dilema, they won't dismiss it because im not under the policy, the car is insured but not under my name because remember im just borrowing the car, so i have to request a hearing, it really sucks that my brother forgot to put the new card back in the car urrrghhh so my question is which hearing should i request, i know technically im wrong but i feel that it really sucks because the car was insured but technically im not, mitigation or contested??? do i have a chance, the penalty is 550 i live in washington state city of renton, this really sucks.. sorry for crying i just need adviced i called everywhere my only choice is a hearing, i don't need no dick head answers please.

Answer:
These things happen to all of us. I know it's hard at first, but try not to get too upset...one day you'll become an old pro @ getting tickets. :) I assume the ticket is in your name? And the reason for the ticket is failure to provide vehicle insurance? First, I'm not sure which state you're in but you shouldn't HAVE to be on the insurance policy to use the car. Second, you AND your brother should take the vehicle ownerships, photo identification, proof of insurance and the ticket to the court. There's no reason to have any hearing if you've satisfied proof of insurance and your brother is there to enforce your story. Point out the reason for the ticket, (literally point to the box ticked on the ticket) then show them the insurance card, then point to your brother. I know it sounds basic, but I've been amazed at the IQ level of court clerks. However, if they MUST have a hearing --sigh-- choose CONTESTED and take all the documents I just listed, remain calm, explain the situation carefully (no details like where you were going, why you had the car, reason you're so upset, cost of coming to court, etc) and don't be nervous. We've all been there and you've done nothing wrong, it's just one of those things. You were probably pulled over for something else (no seatbelt, minor speeding, looked suspicious, etc etc) but the officer couldn't find anything else to fine you for other than insurance. On the bright side, vehicle infractions are usually dealt with before criminal matters so you shouldn't be in court for long. Good luck. :)

Get out of a Carpool Lane violation ticket?
Question:
My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Washington So this is what happened to me: After suffering from the stomach flu for 3 days, I finally ventured forth from my house and was driving on I-405 North from Renton to Kirkland. I was driving 1 lane to the right of the carpool lane, when I suddenly felt violently ill (as in, I was about to throw up. There was a carpool lane exit for downtown Bellevue directly to my left, so I immediately pulled into it and exited, hoping to pull over before vomiting inside my car. There was a cop waiting at the turn right off the exit ramp, and he pulled me over for driving alone in a carpool lane. Is there ANY way I could fight this in court? I know I'm guilty, but is there any chance of my case being dismissed if I check "not guilty" on the ticket and explain the circumstances in court? Also, how do you qualify for a deferral? and if you receive one, does the ticket eventually go on your driving record, or is it put off indefinitely? One last thing: my driving record is clean, but I did receive a speeding ticket once before. When I went to court to contest that ticket, a man came around to everyone waiting in the courtroom and explained that if we paid the ticket up-front right then and there, it wouldn't go on our driving record (is this some loophole in the King County law that allows the city to make money?) I can't find any information about this online, but we jumped on the chance last time to keep our insurance from going up, and sure enough, the ticket was nullified and my driving record remained clear. Is there a chance this same opportunity will present itself if I contest this ticket? Thanks. One last thing, again: I'm 17, so is my parents' presence required in court if I contest the ticket? Also, if I go in person to the court to return my ticket, can I ask them to NOT mail a copy of my court date to my home? And instead, to either call me, or I could check back at the courthouse regulary until my court date was scheduled there? You see, I don't want my parents to find out about this ticket if at all possible! Thanks :)

Answer:
The law is the law and doesn't care if you were feeling sick. If it did, then anytime anyone got at ticket, they could say, "I was only speeding because I thought I was going to throw up". If you were too sick to follow the law, then you shouldn't have been driving. You violated the law and got a ticket. Accept the consequences.

Answer:
lol that's crazy road trip. Last year i went from Toronto to Miami Florida. I didn't really plan any stops as they just come to us. We just keep moving until we wanted to main cities and chill for a bit. a good updated GPS would do. we used it to locate gas, parks, beaches, hotels. One Great hint: stop at all rest areas and pick-up state guide for more info and hotels coupons. we found great deals that way. we got 2 bed room hotel for only $35USA with breakfast, swimming pool and snacks. If i were you get unlimited km car rental. that's what we did. Good luck on the trip i sure love to go again.
