How do I get out of Port Angeles (WA) WITHOUT a car? ?
Question:
I need to get down to Salem, OR, and I know that there are both trains and buses from Seattle to Salem. So the question would be how to get from Port Angeles to Seattle, when NOT driving. I heard there was a ferry, but couldn't find it on the Washington Ferries website. There are Olympic or Olympus buses, but they only run once a day too early in the morning, because I'll be coming in from Victoria, BC by ferry. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
I would recommed taking Kitsap Transit from Port Angeles to the WA State Ferry in Bremerton for about $1.50 and then the Ferry across to Seattle which is free in the westbound direction when walking on board! From Seattle Amtrak Cascades provides frequent rail service to Salem. Avoid Greyhound due to poor quality service.

fastest way from Port Angeles to Seattle?
Question:
My fella and I are taking a roadtrip, and we're planning on taking a ferry from Victoria. I know that passenger only ferries will go right to Seattle, but we'll have the car, so as far as I know the closest we can get is Port Angeles (please, correct me if I'm wrong). If that's true, what is the best (re: quickest) way to get from PA to Seattle?

Answer:
From Victoria I'd take the ferry to Tsawwassen, BC (1 1/2 hours) and then drive to Seattle (2hrs, 15 mins). So total trip time would be about 3hrs, 45mins barring any holdups at the border. If you go from Victoria to Port Angeles it's only a 1/2 hour ferry ride but then you have to drive an hour and a half to Bainbridge Island then take another ferry to Seattle. With ferry costs skyrocketing due to fuel costs I'd definitely go via Tsawwssen. It's also a gorgeous ferry ride through the Gulf Islands and the ferry has a great buffet in the stern on the vessel with huge picture windows. You can watch for dolphins and whales while you're eating.

Port Angeles Police in Clallam CO. WA. Do they have jurisdiction to make traffic stops in Jefferson CO WA ?
Question:
While WB on HWY 101 in Jefferson CO I started passing a vehicle I had been following for several miles. The veh. had been going from around 35 MPH to 50MPH in a 55 MPH zone. We entered a passing zone. I checked for oncoming traffic which was at least 150 yards away. The veh ahead was going between 35 and 40 MPH. I imitated the pass at which time the veh started speeding up. At 50 MHP the veh was still beside me the driver looking directly at me. I looked back to see if I could fall back in line but the other traffic had closed in and there was no room. I sped up to finally get around the veh. At which time the oncoming traffic was approximately 100 to 150 feet ahead. The fourth car in the line of oncoming traffic was a City of Port Angeles police car which pulled to the shoulder with over head lights on. It turned around as traffic allowed and I pulled off to the shoulder. The off duty PA officer approached my veh demanded my license, insurance and registration forms then went back to his car and called for a state officer who after about 20 minutes of talking to the PA officer approached me and asked if I had a problem with the driver of the veh I had passed. I described the speed changes ETC at which time presented me with a citation for "Unsafe Passing" and walked away with allowing me to explain further.

Answer:
In the state of Washington a police officer has jurisdiction throughout the state. The stop was proper.

Connecting at the Port of Los Angeles?
Question:
I will be arriving on a cruise ship at the Port of Los Angeles, and want to travel on to San Diego. Can I rent a car at the port or catch a shuttle to a rental location? Are there any other convenient options at or near the port, like trains, etc?

Answer:
You can rent a car at the location. I usually recommend Enterprise. They will pick you up from the dock. There is no train service from Long Beach. You would have to take a taxi to the nearest train line, which is not very close at all.

Is there a Ferry ( with Car ) from Victoria, BC to Seattle (Port Angeles or any other port in Seattle)?
Question:
Just found out about cohoferry.com

Answer:
The Coho goes from Port Angeles to Victoria, but Port Angeles is on the Olympic Peninsula quite a distance from Seattle and it takes 2-3 hours to get there. The fastest way to Port Angeles from Seattle is to drive north to Edmonds take the Kingston Ferry to the Key Peninsula and then across the Hood Canal Bridge to get to highway 101. The next fastest way is probably to drive south to the Narrows bridge in Tacoma, drive up the Key Peninsula then drive across the Hood Canal Bridge to get to Highway 101

best route to travel from Seattle airport to Port Angeles?
Question:
we're not sure if a ferry would be faster or just to drive to port angeles from the airport, whatever would be easier(ive been told the traffic is pretty bad). also how much would a ferry ride be for 2 adults and mid-sized passanger car

Answer:
Rent a car at Sea-Tac airport. Drive it from the airport onto I-5 northbound into Seattle. As you near the city, take exit 164B, This is the 4th Ave. and Safeco field exit. The off ramp goes to 4th Ave. Take a right onto 4th, then go one block to Royal Brougham. Turn right and head for 4-5 blocks (driving between Safeco field and the new Seahawk stadium) to Alaskan Way on the waterfront. Take another right on to Alaskan Way. You're heading to the Washington State Ferry Colman Docks at Pier 52. It's about 1.2 miles north. Look for overhead signage. There is a special left hand turn lane specifically for vehicle traffic into the toll plaza. At the Colman Docks on the waterfront in downtown Seattle you will choose the Winslow ferry to Bainbridge Island. When you drive off the ferry, you will be on State Route 305. Follow the highway to Poulsbo and get on State Route 3 heading to the Hood Canal Bridge. Turn on Highway 104 over the Hood Canal Bridge. Follow the highway until it merges with Highway 101. Highway 101 will take you to Port Angeles. I'm not aware of a ferry that will take you directly from Seattle to Port Angeles. The Victoria Clipper makes a daily run from Seattle to Victoria, and then there's a ferry in Victoria that goes to Port Angeles. However, that's really a far stretch out of your way, it would take a very long time and would be very costly. Your best bet is to use the directions I've provided. You can get ferry schedules and fare information from the Washington Department of Transportation website at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/ The fares are $14.45 for a car and driver and $6.70 per adult passenger, so it will run you $21.15 for the ferry trip. It will be less if you or your passenger are over the age of 64, or if your passenger is younger than 18. Also, if you want to stay out of traffic problems, avoid the peak times, such as between 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m and 4 p.m. to about 6:30 p.m. If you encounter traffic, it will be between Sea-Tac and the ferry docks in downtown Seattle. After you get off the ferry at Bainbridge Island, you shouldn't have problems with traffic. Depending on traffic, it will probably take you about 20 to 30 minutes to get from Sea-Tac to the ferry dock. Plan on arriving about 30 minutes in advance of loading onto the ferry. It will take about 35 minutes to cross Puget Sound on the ferry. Once you get onto Bainbridge Island, it's about 72 miles to Port Angeles. It will likely take you about an hour and 40 minutes. So in total, plan on about a 2 1/2 hour to 3 hour trip from Sea-Tac airport to Port Angeles. I hope that helps on your trip. I've lived in Washington state for 17 years and have traveled all over the state, so I know it pretty well. This is the way I would go if I were coming from the airport. Good luck!

What's the cheapest way to get from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to the Los Angeles Cruise Port?
Question:
We're going to be driving from Phoenix to LAX in a rental car to pick up a cruise from the Los Angeles Cruise Port and we're trying to figure out a cheap way to get between the two (LAX and the cruise port), both ways....... We're going to be driving from Phoenix to LAX in a rental car to pick up a cruise from the Los Angeles Cruise Port and we're trying to figure out a cheap way to get between the two (LAX and the cruise port), both ways....... Anyone know what a cab would cost round trip vs. the Super Shuttle round trip as previously suggested?

Answer:
"Travelgirl218" is correct. Supershuttle would be the quickest way there, and cheaper than taking a taxi. To check up on your driver, you will go south on I-405, south on Ca-110, exit Gaffy Street under the Vincent Thomas Bridge to the Cruise terminal. Just curious. If your cruise isn't that long, why not just keep the car? A couple days rental will be about the same as the shuttle ride, but if it's a longer cruise turning it in would be more economical. PS: I'm willing to bet that you are going to get someone suggesting you use public transportation, the RED line and the GREEN line, and this bus, and that bus. That is too confusing for people who are not intimately knowledgeable about the area. Stick with the "Shuttle".
