I am being charged with Violation of Protection Order from when I was a minor? Question: The protection order is from my ex-girlfriend, whom which I have had no physical contact with since it was filed, which was when I was 17, and was apparently violated when I was 17 over myspace. I'm now 19 and I was recently involved in a car accident, when the police arrived I was checked out and was fine, but 10 mintues after the police arrived and the officer on the scene was doing paperwork or something, he comes and handcuffs me and tells me that I have a warrant in a county that is 400 miles away.
I served 6 days in jail in which I was shipped around in a truck to have a court date set in benton county, kennewick washington, which I plan on attending. I now have NO contact with her, and that is the last thing I want, I have a job, this is my first offense for anything, and I don't do anything like drink underage, drugs, or anything like that.
My question is, what are the potential outcomes of this if there was no physical contact and I was a minor at the time?
Answer:
you need a lawyer! Apparently you were stalking her back then. It is a serious charge. But remember they need it be able to prove you violated the order with evidence. It is doubtful that if they didn't collect evidence when it was committed that they would be able to get the files needed from myspace to press charges.
