What would be cheaper 6 police cars or 6 police horses?
Question:
Just curious, I live in a small college town in Washington (Go CWU) and we have 4 different police departments policing the town (State Patrol, County Sheriff, Ellensburg PD, and CWU PD). Our city is a huge rodeo town and I our school is really into the country theme, and we spend a ton of money keeping the CWU PD employed and running their cars (Ellensburg PD hates them, they talk crap about them when I've talked to them lol). Anyways, my thought is that in a town that is so centered around rodeo, they should put the CWU cops on horses, it would make them more versatile around campus, and still give them mobility to surrounding areas. There are stables that are less than a 5 minute ride from campus so building a stable doesn't count in costs. How much does it cost a year to maintain a horse? How much for a police car? The stables are city owned, and would be able to be used for "free". Taxes are already paying for them :)

Answer:
when you consider 2 or 3 tanks of fuel per patrol car a day plus maintenance and wear and tear depreciation on vehicle resale value average vehicle cost initialy to purchase plus signs and paint crash repair shop bills on the other hand a horse requires hay and chaff, oats, special linaments for rub downs, someone to do the rubdowns, specialy made horse floats plus a vehicle to move the float, stables are NOT free, agistment, vet bills, someone to scoop the poop, and general care and well-being special little horse shoes so they can chase rustlers, a nice little saddle half way along its back (that reminds me of a joke but i cant tell it here) if i think of something else ill be back

What is the cheapest way to get from Ellensburg wa, to seattle?
Question:
I'm going to central washington university and i dont have car and my family is in seattle. whats the cheapest bus system to get back and forth. theres a shuttle to get to the airport and greyhound, but theyre both about 30-40 bucks. does anyone know if theres a metro bus system or something that will take me there?

Answer:
Sadly, you'll be going Greyhound or the Airporter. King County Metro goes East as far as North Bend only and there isn't any reliable public transit in Kittitas County. Although last I heard there was a bus operated by CWU that can take students around to places in Ellensburg (including the Greyhound Depot in Ellensburg) thats included in your tuition and fees (no additional charge). If you'll ride often, I suggest getting Student Advantage. It's good for discounts on Greyhound and Amtrak (Rail Fare only, no discounts on Sleepers, business class, or first class). It may also save you money on your cell phone bill.

I have a good shot at becoming a rural carrier associate, but me car has a console in the middle. Help!?
Question:
I interviewed for the job of rural carrier associate and there's a good change I might get it. Here's the problem, though. My car's shifter, cup holder, CD holder and parking break are in between the seats. The postmaster here in Ellensburg Washington says I might have to get a new car if I want the job. That's not fair! Espechially since the only car I can find with a bench seat is a piece of junk. I don't want to buy a new car. I like my current one, thank you very much. I'm willing to alter it, though, if I can find an affordable way to do it. Is there anyone out there who was once in my shoes and knows of a way to help me with my problem?

Answer:
Yeah, as an RCA you're required to have a car that you're capable of delivering from. And you'll beat that car up along the way scratching up the passenger side door, worn out brakes and tires, among other things. It really depends what kind of car you have. Most carriers I work with just get the center consoles removed and straddle the gearshift. With my car (Toyota Highlander), the console is flat and the gearshift is up high so luckily I didn't have to do any altering, though I sort of broke the cover to the cup holders from sitting on them. They have right-side drive kits you can get put on your car for a few hundred dollars so the center console doesn't become an issue, but like I said, it depends on your car. http://www.postalthings.com/right_hand_drive_kits.htm The job isn't for everyone; RCAs have a very high turnover rate because people come in thinking the job is cake just discover it's extremely stressful and physically uncomfortable, especially in the beginning. I wouldn't do anything severe to your car until you know for sure you'd want to stick around.
