Where to race cars in Des Moines Iowa?

There aren't any drag strips around here. me and some other people used to do street races in down town "illegally" but i've been out of town for a while and now i'm back and I have no idea where they'd be at. anyone here know where some races will be ? i'm ready to stomp people lol

There are several in Iowa. Oskalosa (Eddyville) is the closest to DM. To find out what's going on you'll want to join one at least one of the motor clubs, there are a bunch in DM. Town has been full of gearheads and gassers for over 50 years, still is. What do you race? Just google your car, T-Bird, GTO, Import - add Des Moines Auto Racing and you'll probably find a couple of clubs. Alternatively just call or e-mail one of the tracks - MAM or Eddyville both have active schedules. If you want to do illegal racing, good luck finding any. For a while in the early 90's a couple of guys tried doing some on the long stretch starting at Beach Girls out by Booneville, but he cops figured it out in no time. Plus, nobody was really interested. Why spend $20k+ on your ride to get it seized by the police?

Des Moines(WA) to Seattle commute without a car possible?

I was planning on getting a job in WA when I move. I don't have a car, would getting around be possible if I lived in Des Moines? I head Seattle has a good bus system but how about getting from Des Moines to a job in downtown Seattle? If I do need a car, Is it hard to get a car there with bad credit? Is it hard to rent a car?

I cannot answer your question about the car, but I can answer your question about the bus. If you work nine to five hours Monday-Friday, there is an express bus that runs from Des Moines through Burien and then on the freeway to downtown Seattle. One of my coworkers commutes from Des Moines to our office in downtown Seattle. The routes are 121 and 122. http://transit.metrokc.gov/ Note: The 132 is not an express. It is the local and takes about an hour to get downton.

Its only about 30 miles or so.. and all interstate. Doesnt take long at all Im sure there would be a bus, but renting a car would probably be about the same. Maybe you could split the cost with her. Depending on where you are starting in Des Moines. Highway 5 is a major 4 lane road on the South side. Just follow highway 5 South East right into Knoxville. Ask anyone how to get to 5, I'm sure they can tell you.
