Best place for teenagers to buy first car near bremerton washington?
Question:
me and my boyfriend are moving in together at the end of july and neither of us have a car.... we live in bremerton washington and we need a car since he is in the military.... any ideas? we are hoping not to spend more than $1000 if possible

Answer:
Since he's in the military, have your beau conduct a survey of his peers - where did they buy & how were they treated? Did they end up with a lemon & not a peach? Also, seems, with sailors shipping in & out of Kitsap county all of the time, you might find a good deal from one who needs to sell. Seems there should be public bulletin boards in the rec centers, housing quarters, etc. Post a "wanted" notification.

Seattle and Bremerton, Washington- Ferry advice?
Question:
My husband is in the Navy and we're looking at possible places to choose for his station. I'm going back to college to finish my master's- I love the Washington area and the Naval base he can choose is at Bremerton, however, the closest college I can attend is in Seattle- I see there's a ferry that connects the two- can anyone shed some light on how the ferry system works? How much is would cost? Would he have to ferry across a car? We're from Michigan so this is novel to us. Thanks

Answer:
you can walk on the ferry or drive. the walking on is A LOT cheaper and faster because you dont take up as much room and dont have to wait in lines. you can also commute from kingston-edmonds. kingston is about 30-40min away from bremerton but I personally like the ferry better. here is the website for you to browse. like I said buy a monthly pass and park then walk on the ferry it is WAY faster and cheaper. if you do seattle bremerton ferry you walk off the ferry right into seattle where the buses are very good to get you around. bus website http://transit.metrokc.gov/ http://www.wsdot.wa.g ov/ferries/

Shouldnt the Nascar track in Bremerton Wa. Be Accepted?
Question:
Yes i think the nascar track in bremerton washington should be accepted because it would bring in so much money. It would bring in enough money so we wouldnt have to pay taxes on it. The track will also bring other sporting events with is. They wouldnt just have nascar, they would have all kinds of extreme sports. They would probabily build a skate park for all u skaters. they probabily would build a r/c car track for all u r/c car drivers. They are going to build dirt tracks for the sprint cars and the monifieds. They will make a demo-derby arena for all kinds of activites like demos, dirtbikes, gocarts, and lawnmower racing. It is going to be right by the drag strip so theres double the fun. This would bring in alot of money so bremerton will be a fun town and not a boring place to be anymore.

Answer:
I say screw Washington and get a date for the "Rock" or a second date for Darlington. But since the France family is all about money, I am sure that we will end up with a date in Washington. I guess that Goodyear will develop a rain tire just for that race! rubbin is racin !

What is the best route to travel from central Illinois to Bremerton, WA at the end of November in a U-Haul?
Question:
What is the best, safest route to travel from central Illinois to Washington State? I know it's about a 36 hour drive, and we are taking a U-Haul and trailing my car behind it. Are U-Hauls four wheel or front wheel drive? Is this a hard trip to make or should it go fairly smooth? I would appreciate any advice, thanks!

Answer:
That is pretty much impossible to tell. Of the three routes that google maps shows, all are on interstate highways. I would get maps (real maps, not ones printed from the internet) for all of the states along the way for any route. Bookstores and other places sell atlases that have road maps of every state, or you could go to any AAA office and get maps of specific states. Draw out each of the routes suggested. You could even add in one that went all the way to the CA coast then turns north on I-5. In the 3 or 4 days before your trip, check the forecasts on weather.com for areas along each route. Bear in mind that forecasts that are more than a few days in the future are subject to major changes - but it is better than nothing. Then, I would pick the route that seems to have the best prospects for decent weather. If you are making motel reservations for a stop along the way, make sure you know what the cancellation policy is just in case you need to change routes at the last moment. Interstate highways are generally well plowed in the winter and are frequently patrolled by the state police, so a little snow should not be an issue. Tens of thousands of people travel those roads every day, winter and summer, so your trip is not much different than any of those. Just in case, however, be sure to take cell phones and chargers, some bottles of water, food (not junk food - but decent food), blankets or sleeping bags, ice scrapers and brushes. If you have one, take a snow shovel, too. What size/type of U-Haul vehicle? My guess is that there are no U-Haul trucks that are four wheel drive. They will all be rear wheel drive. Vans might be different. You will have to get that information from the U-Haul location, for the specific vehicle you drive away with. Good luck.

Best way to travel from Illinois to Washington in January?
Question:
I'm moving from central Illinois to Washington state (Bremerton) in January. I'm curious as to what the safest route would be and if anyone has made a similar journey in the winter and how their experience was. I'm planning on having my friend's dad who is from northern Minnesota drive me because I'm nervous to drive that distance in winter and I'm admittedly not the best driver. Is the weather very severe in January in Washington and in other states I may have to go through? I've never lived outside of Illinois so I'm pretty clueless and want to be extremely prepared. And how do I prep my car for the trip. I drive a 2007 Ford Focus. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you :)

Answer:
The mountains aren't the big problem : the Plains are . When you drive across the northern tier of a America in the dead of winter it is critically important that you have on board everything that you need to spend a night or two living out of your vehicle . You can do everthing by the book and if a semi or two gets sidesways on a snowy and icey interstate ,rolls over and blocks the interstate for a day or so it is critically important that you be able to survive at what could be -10F temps To pee easily and in privacy carry one of these http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___80660 For light and a modicum of warmth in the vehicle : carry one of these >which walmart also sells http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___80980 Snap a baby carabiner into the wire loop and hang it off of your rear view mirror While you don't need a monster and expensive -20 down bag on board One of the synthetic "Trestle bags " from Marmot will do the trick http://www.rei.com/search?cat=4500040&jxBrand=Marmot&jxInsulati on+type=Synthetic&hist=cat%2C4500040%3ACold+Weather+%28%2B10+and+ Below%29%5EjxBrand%2CMarmot%5EjxInsulation+type%2CSynthetic Carr y high calorie foods >sweets and fats Carry water in a cooler so that it doesn't freeze Carrry tire chains Know that as the temp goes down your tire pressure will too and that there comes a point in that process where the combination of low tire pressure and cold inflexible rubber will cause a tire to blow off of the rim if it hits a large pothole >so stay on top of your tire pressure. You alse need to carry good sunglasses b/c the combination of sun +snow +wall to wall sky across the Great Plains in winter can be brutal on the eyes. Your friend's father who is from northern MN shouler know all of the stuff that I just wrote and if he doesn't ...tell him As far as routing goes : I would go I-80 W to I-84 W to I-5N Safe trip

MY SEATTLE TRIP: Please help organize my itinerary?
Question:
Hello, Thanks for reading and responding. I've been planning a trip to Seattle, but I need help organizing it. My interests are outdoor activities & sights----including hiking, biking, and kayaking; seeing cool neighborhoods; hanging out at coffee houses/bookstores/jazz clubs. So here's a list of activities and sights I am interested in so far for my nine day stay in Seattle (Sept. 2 - 11). I'm trying to organize all these activities and sights into a feasible itinerary, one in which I economize my time and energy. Please, while I understand that much of how it could be organized depends on many factors, such as my preferences, I could use your guidance! By the way, I will have a car. And on a couple of these days, I'll be hiking with a friend, a long-term resident of Seattle. I would appreciate your suggestions as to how I might make the most of my time and do as many of these as possible. How might you organize the following? Here's my very rough itinerary so far, all of which can be altered, including the particular day I do certain activities: Starting Sunday, Sept. 2; final day, Mon., Sept. 10: Day 1, Sun, Sept. 2: Bumbershoot Festival (I arrive from Korea on this day, early morning----not sure if I'll be too tired to get out. I hope not!) Day 2, Mon., Sept. 3: Bumbershoot Festival (?) I'm not sure if I'm going to do two days of this festival. Maybe just one. Are two days worth it or is one day enough? Day 3 & 4, Tues., Sept. 4 & Wed, Sept 5: I'd like to get an overview of the city by renting a bike and doing the Burke-Gilman Trail. If it helps me get around better than a car, I'd consider renting a bike for two days. While I want to see as much as possible, I'd like to stop and do things along the way. I realize that I can't do all of these in one day. But here are sctivities/sights I'd like to do, at some point, whether on this day of biking or on some other day: Neighborhoods: I like cool neighborhoods with interesting architecture and/or quaint stores/coffee shops * Fremont * University District * Capitol Hill * Queen Ann * Ballard Locks *West Seattle (? not sure---is it worth it?) * Green Lake (? not sure---is it worth it?) *Pike's Place Market (I know, not a neighborhood, but a place I could bike to on one of these days?) CITY PARKS: There seem to be so many good ones----for amazing views & beauty----that I'm confused. Which are really worth going to? It seems that most people agree on: Kerry Park (at night?), Olympic Sculpture Park, Volunteer, and Golden Gardens. Do you agree? I'm not sure about Carkeek or Gas Works though. Are these "duplicates experiences" of other parks? GARDENS/NATURE CENTERS: I don't need to see ALL gardens/nature centers of Seattle, just the most significant/beautiful. If they all are worth it, however, then let me know. Which ones? It seems: * Washington Park Arboretum * Kubota Garden * Woodland Park Rose Garden (? "duplicate"?) * Univ. of Washington Botanical Gardens (? again, "duplicate" of others?) Day 5, Thursday, Sept. 6: I must take do some shopping for an upcoming backpacking trip. Any suggestions for a good outdoors/backpacking store? Day 6, Friday, Sept. 7: Kayaking-----on Lake Union? Lake Washington? Also, on this day, the Bainbridge ferry to Bremerton----unless this is a day unto itself. Day 7, Saturday, Sept. 8: hiking----Mt. St. Helen's Day 8, Sunday, Sept. 9: hiking----Mt. Rainier (or some place my friend knows) Day 9, Monday, Sept. 10: A museum (any "musts-sees"?) Relax at some coffee shops? Definitely see a Mariners game that night. As you can see, I want to stay ACTIVE, but don't get me wrong: I want to have some down time along the way, such as enjoying a meal, hanging out at some cool cafes, coffee houses, and jazz club, not to mention parks. "Must-visit" Coffee Houses that are COMFORTABLE and w/ATMOSPHERE: * It seems people are saying: Uptown Espresso, Vivace, Coffee Messiah. Agree? "Must-visit" restaurants, especially seafood: * Only got one so far: Ray's "Must-visit" jazz clubs, especially for "After-hours lounge jazz": * depends on schedule, I know, but people are talking about The Triple Door. Notice I'm leaving out many tourist attractions, like the Space Needle and the zoo. These don't seem to be important compared to my priorities. Am I wrong? Have I missed anything? Thanks so much for any information and/or suggestions which might help me better define my itinerary. Cheers

Answer:
Skip the 2nd day of Bumbershoot, unless there's some band you absolutely want to see. It's do-able in one day. The Burke-Gilman trail is pretty but won't give you an "overview of the city". It's really more rural. If you want to rent a bike for a day you can get one at Play It Again Sports on Stewart St. downtown. Green Lake is fun to ride around but, you know, it's really just a big lake. Nothing too exciting there. Fremont is a very cool neighborhood and you could check out stores / coffee houses / restaurants there. Don't miss the Fremont Troll under the Aurora Ave bridge. Nothing special about the University District, unless you are interested in checking out the campus. I would skip that. Ditto for Queen Anne. The Ballard Locks are neat and you could do that on the same day you see Fremont. It's fun to watch the locks in action. Check out the salmon ladder too, although there may not be many fish in it this time of year. The locks have a beautiful park that would be nice for a picnic. If you like the beach head to Alki Beach in West Seattle, otherwise I'd skip West Seattle. Ditto for Golden Gardens (although it's very close to the locks, so you could go there afterwards if you want to). You absolutely must see Pike Place Market. You could spend a whole day there. I would do that and the Seattle Art Museum on the same day, then have dinner at Wild Ginger. Best restaurant in town. You could also add Olympic Sculpture Garden on the same day. I think the WA Park Arboretum and Univ of WA Botanical Garden are the same thing. Beautiful place...I got married there! It's pretty big and you probably want to save 1/2 day for that. Great place for bike-riding. Kubota Gardens are incredible. I take all my out-of-town guests there. The Triple Door is great; also check out Jazz Alley if they have any live shows while you're here. Skip the zoo. A zoo is a zoo is a zoo. I agree with the previous poster that said REI is the place to get your backpacking gear. It's on the corner of Eastlake and Stewart, just a couple of blocks from the place where I said to rent a bike. As far as the coffee houses, I'd go to Uptown Espresso on Westlake. Or really, any place downtown. I know it's the biggest chain in the universe but I really do like Starbucks. They're consistent, friendly, and you don't have to walk more than 2 feet in this town to find one. :-) Don't go to Vivace...they're total snobs and unless you like a bad attitude with your coffee, I'd never set foot in that place. So, blah, blah, blah, here's what I would do if I were you: Day 1: Bumbershoot Day 2: Fremont, Ballard Locks, maybe Golden Gardens beach. Day 3: Olympic Sculpture Garden, Pike Place Market (have lunch there too), Seattle Art Museum, dinner at Wild Ginger. Day 4: REI, then rent a bike and ride up to Capitol Hill and the arboretum. Dinner on Broadway in Capitol Hill (whatever restaurant strikes your fancy). I'd try to stay out of downtown Seattle on the bike. Day 5: Take the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge then check out Fort Ward State Park. Neat place. Take a bike instead of driving and you'll save a bunch of money. Bainbride is very bike friendly. Day 6: Relax, see Pioneer Square, spend an afternoon in Elliot Bay Bookstore. Go see some jazz music that night. Day 7-8: Hiking w/ your friend. Day 9: Open for anything you want to do. Mariners game at night. Buy snacks outside the stadium and bring them in with you to save a bunch of money. Hope that helps! Have fun in our BEAUTIFUL city!!!

Am I a porn addict?
Question:
I just found out that I am a porn addict. I came home last night from work, and my wife informed me of this fact. When I asked were she got that from, she showed me all of these answers to her question about me. Is this what we do? Has our society sunk so low that we have to coin terms to label people who like things that we don't? 1st. There is an explaination for the box of porn that was in my trunk eight years ago. I was in the Navy, and stationed in Washington. We were in the baracks and had a television in our room. In Bremerton there are four things. Porn Shops, bars, the base, and rain. So we watched porn and drank. When we left and went back to live on the ship, I had a car, and a lot of guys didn't. They gave me their movies to hold until we got back to San Diego. When we got there, a lot of guys didn't have access to a tv, and never picked it up. I had put them all in a box in the trunk, and most of them weren't mine. I owned three or four. 2nd. I have watched porn one time in a year and a half, and no more then ten times in eight years! I was under the impression that a porn addiction was when someone can't function in society, because they spend all day viewing, or trying to obtain porn. I have serious questions about whether this is even a real addiction in the first place, as I have never met a single person who couldn't function. Besides that, if you want to talk about addiction, my wife spends all day on this thing, writing and answering questions. Maybe some of you have a similar problem huh. Anyway, I can't get too upset with you guys. Since we have started writing, at least she has been treating me in a civil manner. No one has a right to make any damands of another. In an adult relationship, people make decisions and you either like it and you stay, or you don't and you leave. It's as simple as that. I have simply been too much of a pussy to do that. I haven't had any movies for seven years. What are talking about? And yes, they were not all mine. I held their porn because they were moving on to the ship. I know that many people have not been in the Navy, but in the Navy all that you have is a cot, and a tiny little locker underneath your rack. That is all that you have. Maybe it sounds strange, but that is the deal. These movies have not existed for a long time. My wife took the box when she found it and has had it ever since. She has been taping over them for years. I'm sorry that wishing to view porno bothers her, but it seems to be a reasonable outlet for a male sex drive, and a desire to experience fantasies that cannot otherwise be experienced.

Answer:
um...unless a professional gave you the label of porn addict I don't think that you are. Most men watching porn regularily it's pretty normal. Did you get rid of the videos in your trunk??? if you did then there shouldn't be a problem. If you watch and think about porn 24/7 then you might be an addict and in that case I suggest you get some help. Also, if porn is a huge problem for your wife then you need to talk about it and compremise on what's a resonable amount of porn to watch.
