Cheap Cars - Bellingham, Washington?
Question:
Hey, I'm looking for a really cheap (really really really cheap) car in Bellingham, Washington. I was wondering if somebody could give me advice on how to find such a cheap car (preferably under $500) and then to make sure it can at least last 500 miles. I'm open to ANY non-illegal options, including police repound auctions and/or independent sellers.

Need afordable rental car at Bellingham Washington Airport?
Question:
I will be flying into Bellingham Washington Airport and need to rent a car for two weeks. The price is coming up on the high side, need ideas for economy car rental please. Thank you

Answer:
Hi, I saw your other question about going to Bellingham and then to Montana. If you already read that answer, you saw my suggestion about flying on to Montana and then renting a car there instead of in Bellingham. If you need a car in Bellingham, unfortunately they pretty much have you over a barrel. They're the northwesternmost sizeable town in the continental USA, so they're literally at an "end of everything" location and things are going to be more expensive there. (For example, gasoline in Bellingham usually costs more than anywhere else in Washington.) You might do better to go further south for your car rental, even if you end up having to take a bus. I think you'll get a better deal in Seattle, or even in Everett or Burlington, than in Bellingham. Do some more checking online and see what the rental fee is if your starting point is somewhere other than Bellingham. Good luck!

How long does it take to get to White Rock, BC(canada) from Bellingham, Washington?
Question:
I have a job there and live in Bellingham. What's the shortest time I can take to get to commute between these locations? Is there a train? If so, how much is the train transportation? If not, how long would it take by a car?

Answer:
"Hi"...Firstly there is no train that would suit your purposes nor Greyhound "again" that would suit your purposes ! If you were to drive direct it would be about 30 minutes but of course you have the border to contend with so that depends of whether it is busy or not ! To circumnavigate any delays I'd suggest you look into getting a "Nexus" permit which would expedite you through the border each way ! So if you don't want to wait at the Border...look at this.... http://www.getnexus.com/ Hope that helps ya and "Merry Christmas"! *S* (Michael C...) ************************************************* EDI T.....oh dear "old lady"....Where do I start...Great Northern first of all is completely *FREIGHT* and in fact whistles past White Rock with it's horn blaring ! Greyhound does "NOT" go to White Rock at all and the asker would have to go downtown...or Langley...so whats the point as they can be in Bellingham in 15 mins. from the border and to the border from White Rock is 15 mins ! ....... get the NEXUS card...thats what it's for and I have given you the link in my original post ...it's great to have and shoots you through the border and again as I say "both ways"! ! *S*

Are there any places to legally sleep outside in Bellingham, Washington?
Question:
I mean like actually outside - not in a car or a shelter or anything. I don't want to get arrested or break any laws or anything but I need a place to sleep.

Answer:
To the best of my knowledge it is not illegal per se to sleep outside within the city limits. But the problem is there are few if any places where it would be completely legal and safe and comfortable. All of the parks within the city are closed at night and if caught in there you could possibly get in trouble for trespassing. And there are several places where homeless people camp, technically many of them are trespassing but they are rarely hassled for that. These places include the woods east of the Lakeway Drive Fred Meyer's, and under the bridge where Northwest Avenue crosses Squalicum Way, all along Squalicum Way in the bushes, and the bridge under Bay Street near Chestnut. I wouldn't feel safe sleeping in any of those places. I suppose if I had no other option I might sneak into the woods at Whatcom Falls or Lake Padden Park. But seriously you should talk to the folks at the Lighthouse Mission (corner of F and Holly), they might provide shelter or help you in other ways. Also maybe the YWCA on Forest Street can help you out.

Traveling to Bellingham Washington Airport?
Question:
I am flying into Bellingham Washington Airport and will then travel to Montanna. What are palces of interest to visit? Any activities that I should make a point of (dude ranches, trout fishing, hiking, sight seeing, etc...) I appreciate all infromation. Should I plan to rent a car from airport, will need to be back there in 2 weeks, or by chance is there alternate transportation to take advantage of (train, bus, tours)....??? Thank you in advance!

Answer:
Mount Baker is not far from Bellingham and probably has some hiking and/or fishing to offer. Check the town's tourism website (link below) for more ideas. As for whether you should rent a car from the airport, it depends on where you're going in Montana. From Bellingham to Missoula (in the western end of Montana) is a LONG day's drive. You might want to fly to Montana and then rent a car once you get where you're going there. From Bellingham, you can take Alaska Airlines to Seattle, and then to just about anyplace in Montana that has an airport (still on Alaska Airlines). Hope that helps!

I AM GOING TO BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON BUT IM SO SCARRED OF FLYING SO I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A TRAIN BUT I DONT?
Question:
I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT TRAIN PLACES LIKE THERE IS METRO,AMTRAK AND ETC I JUST WANT CHEAPEST FOR THERE AND BACK FROM ONTARIO CALIFORNIA OR WOULD IT BE CHEAPER TO RENT A CAR AND DRIVE UP TO WASHINGTON ON MY OWN

Answer:
It's roughly 1100 miles. A train (Amtrak's "Coast Starlight") takes 2 days. Any airline will take 2 hours. Pull up your big girl pants, and take a plane. It's one of the safest methods of transportation. PS: Typing in all upper case letters is considered the equivalent of shouting, and is considered rude.

How does someone get to Juneau, Alaska, by car?

I know I am going to have to take the ferry part of the way but I want to go as far as possible by car with the shortest distance possible by ferry. I am going to be leaving the lower 48 from Seattle, Washington. If it's cheaper to take the ferry from Bellingham, Washington, I'll do that. I want to save money and time but I would like to see a lot of the scenery too.
