Why do all the navy peeps at the base in Norfolk (virginia) have nice cars?
Question:
when i was there on a field trip, i realized they all have nice cars (mustangs, camaros, nice trucks, etc) just wondering why?

Answer:
They have a steady job with very little chance of being fired so the banks will give them large loans. They have very few expenses when out to sea.

Car rental services in Chesapeake/Norfolk VA that will rent to someone 20 years of age?
Question:
I am flying to Norfolk/Chespeake Virginia, and I am going to need a car to drive there while I am there. I already know Enterprise and other big companies typically won't rent to anyone under 21, but are there any second-tier companies out there that will rent to me? It's pretty important that I have something to drive.

Answer:
Usually, Rent-A-Wreck requires renters to be at least 18 years old, but some locations may require a minimum age of 25 years. For consumers under 25, a credit card is usually required for payment and the rental rate may be higher. Please contact the individual Rent-A-Wreck car rental location for their specific age policies. "

So im going home on leave to my home state in San Diego CA but really not sure how to go about bring my personal items... I have my wife and son with me and she's not really comfortable driving on her own... so these are the option i came up with...im thinking of selling my car, get a used car over there, have navy transfer my house items, and fly over or drive across country with a Uhual and take up a couple days of my leave, with my car attached to a tow.... what do u think or do u have any other options for me.... help plz.. or does any one know any companies that will bring all my things (including car) to VA while my wife and kid flies over.. i dont mined paying out of pocket...thanks

Answer:
Contact your local USO. They may be able to come up with a solution on how to help you. The may be able to arrange something with the USA in Virginia. Or you can also contact your new command and ask for the people that handles family housing. Normally there are Navy wives who are there to help out in a transition to a new base. You can also talk to the command staff at your A school. I'm sure your situation is not unique. The may have a simple solution to your problem. Good luck. The adventures are just starting.

I need to move, anyone know where the ghetto is in Norfolk, Virginia?
Question:
Okay, so I've lived in Norfolk for like 7 months now. My husband is stationed here with the Marines and I want to move before he comes home next month. Basically I'm going to move to have a room mate (another married couple) so rent will be cheaper and such. I already live with a couple, but the current couple has gone kinda crazy and it's just a big mess and I need to get out of it. Anyway, I need to figure out where the very worst neighborhoods are. I've heard South Norfolk and Park Place are the worst... which I'm not sure where they are if someone could fill me in. I am from a huge city in California and I'm used to ghetto. I just wanna know what I'm getting into. I already live on Little Creek... West Little Creek near Hampton, and I've heard gunshots a few times, my friend's car was broken into outside my house, but it seems to me that all of Norfolk has that problem. I don't mind living in a ghetto. I just don't want to be murdered or anything. So where's the worst places to live and where's the okay places and where should I absolutely avoid?

Answer:
Oh yes, I know of Park Place. Park Place is a neighborhood in the western-half of Norfolk, Virginia. Park Place is one of Norfolk's most distressed and crime-ridden areas. It is home to some street gangs including the Purple HayzeNine Trey Gangster Bloods, SGMand 74 Hoover Crips. I attended Norfolk State University in 2007 and had to leave because I did not feel safe. Park Place is near the school and we were constantly having armed robberies and battery attacks, and the campus police hardly made an effort to do anything. Stay away from the ghettos, please. I’m not familiar with all of Norfolk, just where I attended school, but I’m sure with some research of areas of Norfolk and their crime reports you’ll find some place nice and safe. Although no area is 100% crime free.

Does anyone know where I can rent a used car in Virginia?
Question:
I'm visiting VA in about a year and will need a car. I want a used car because I'll be 18. I will have a UK license but will probably get a VA license. Anywhere in VA Beach, Norfolk, Roanoke or Lynchburg would be good. Thanks!

Answer:
the name sounds bad but the company is good and they are in VA. You may want to check into U.S. laws to do with foreign driving licenses and/or look into an international drivers license, if you are just visiting.

Virginia personal property tax discount for green cars?
Question:
Kind of long but bare with me. I will be moving to Norfolk soon and I found out there is a personal property tax. On their website, it says this: annual payment = (car value/100)*$4.57 I also found that there was an act passed in 2002 declaring that the state would pay 100% of this payment for any personal car valued lower than $20,000. This seems like a decent plan. Maybe hit people who go out and throw big money Mustang GT's or BMW's or what have you but leave the Civic and Corolla buyers alone right? Turns out the state lied but they still will pay about 70%. Now for my issue. I did this calculation on two cars I am thinking about buying. The first one is a VW Golf TDI that costs around $24,000 base and the second is a Fiesta that costs about $17,000. To make a long story short, the taxes on the CLEAN BURNING DIESEL HATCHBACK are $1,096.80 for the first year. The Fiesta's are $233.07 because it qualifies for the state's 70% refund. Am I the only one who thinks this is absurd and more importantly, is there any exception for green cars such as the aforementioned Diesel Golf? This type of tax difference between two economy cars is disgusting to me. It isn't like I'm buying a fricking Ferrari.

Answer:
Classic example of the "Law of Unintended Consequences." For what it's worth, a Prius would not qualify for the break either. It's also possible that they didn't foresee diesels as being as "green" as they have turned out to be. 2002 was before low-sulfur diesel was widely available in the US (though it had been widely available in Europe for several years) and even the cleanest high-mileage diesels of the day were pretty dirty compared to modern diesels.

Where can I buy a car luggage rack locally?
Question:
Looking for a retailer that sells cheap universal fit car luggage racks. Dad is moving out of state and needs extra storage space, anyone know where I can go to find a roof luggage rack, like Walmart or Target, maybe a Sporting Goods store in Norfolk Virginia? I'm not sure of anyone that would carry them and need it by tomorrow. Thanks!

Answer:
Sears.

I was in a car accident with someone who was an illegal alien. Can i sue the person who owns the car?
Question:
The accident was there fault. He hit my driver side. The police arrested the guy driving because of his status as an alien. I don't want to report it to my insurance because my car is almost paid up. I only owe $1500 and it's probably that much in damages. So I was wondering if the person who let this guy drive there car was somewhat responsible? What do you think? I live in norfolk, virginia this happened in virgina beach

Answer:
Believe it or not, Your insurance company has a legal department that knows exacly what to do in that cercumstance. Each state has its own way of approaching that problem, so contacting them is your best bet. ^.^
