How do residential parking permits work? Question: I live in Herndon, Virginia. Last night my car was towed from my apartment's parking lot apparently for not having a parking permit. This is the first time I hear about these things. What is a parking permit? Who provides them, my apartment complex or the city? Why is there such a thing? How does it work? With a permit where can I park and where can I not? What is this program trying to solve? Sorry, but I'm really clueless. Can someone enlight me? Answer: My University issued parking permits for the student parking sections. I could park anywhere in any of those color coded lots. My job had monthly parking permits for us issued by the parking tower management good for anywhere except marked "reserved" spots. Your apartment complex manager will issue you a parking permit and will dioscuss with you exactly where you can and can not park. The purpose is to keep parking spaces for tenants and to help enforce their rules on how many vehicles you can have there. It helps keep bar overflow parking out of their property, helps keep ypou from tthrowing parties for your 100 closest friends (keeping the noise levels down) |

Instead, you should call the office in charge of vehicle decals, which is part of the Revenue Division. Their number is (703) 435-6813. I just checked it, and the number is answer by a live person. For more information about required decals in Herndon, see this Web page: http://www.herndon-va.gov/Content/Town_Services/Finance_Ta xes_Licenses/Finance_decals/default.aspx Good luck!! |

Opinions on Northern Virginia auto body shops? Question: I was in a car accident recently and have been given three recommendations from the other driver's insurance. I am trying to decide which to use and am looking for opinions on them. They are: Loudoun Auto Body (Chantilly, VA), D&V Auto Body (Dulles, VA), and Sterling Collision (Herndon, VA) which I believe is also known as Sterling Auto Centers. Answer: vagirlhi, I've found a nice list of auto body shops in Virginia. I'd recommend contacting one of them to see if you can get your questions resolved. http://www.findautobodyshops.com/Virginia-Auto-Body-Shops.html |

F.O.P star bumper stickers? Question: Well. I live in a little town called "herndon" part of fairfax county Virginia. I have seen many of these "FOP" bumper stickers on the back of cars all over. I understand that it is suppose to represent law enforcement officers, but what do the different colors mean. The FOP stickers are always a five point star, but do the colors have anything to do with rank, etc..?? The colors I have seen so far are blue, green, black, and red. This morning I walked out front and realized my neighbor who lives right across the street from me has an FOP sticker on her window, it's red, however I never see them in a police car or in uniform. Me being a "pot smoker" I'm naturally not too fond of the police. So it freaked me out when I saw all this, the whole time I've lived here I've been cheefing out front, not knowing there's a cop living right across from me(Lucky me--pheew). What does the Red F.O.P. sticker mean ? I guess that's my big question. I did some minor research and I keep hearing the word lodge thrown around. What is a lodge in terms of the F.O.P.? I live right by a building that looks like a church, it has a a square and compass with a big 'ol "G" in the middle. I know that this is a "Freemason Lodge". Is the F.O.P. in relation to these masonic lodges?? I am a truth seeker, and I believe the Gov't is being ran by the Illuminati/masons(don't judge me), so when I found out I was living in a masonic town I FREAKED. Can someone put the pieces together for me !?!?! I feel like I hardly know my own town, I feel like the police are all two faced, I just want some answers. Maybe someone out there can put my mind at ease and tell me what it is, exactly, that I'm living/dealing with. Thanks much for your time, honest answers are/will be humbly appreciated. -Maurice @s0mewhereny . I respect your answer and it is much appreciated. But I must say, you aren't fully educated about modern theories of "secret societies" . To group me a pharmaceutical/THC abuser just isn't fair. Using and abusing are two different things, I use NOT abuse THC- regardless of your ignorant perception. To call me an offender of the law is probably justified to you, in your head. However, I have never hurt a person, robbed/stolen from a store, or been incarcerated for any reason whatsoever. The most I have ever done is smoke a little bit of bud, and told a few fibs to a few people to avoid personal trouble(nothing in regards to the law). Real offenders lurk the streets everyday right under the noses of police. These sex offenders, child abusers, car thieves, etc.. live right in your neighborhoods, around your kids, around your schools, and so on so forth. It's just easier to get the ones that "look" like criminals, huh? If they don't look like a criminal then they *must not be, right ?? Sure I smoke weed, I'll admit that(not saying it's a good thing). But I know in my heart-despite what society thinks-I am NO criminal. The real criminals are going to keep walking the streets just as long as cops keep arresting kids that smoke bud and get into little teenage ailments. So Mr."s0mewhereny" If I am offensive to you and/or the law, you have my humble apologies. Just know that I find you most offensive, for finding me offensive in the first place. Answer: Not all FOP members are sworn police officers. There is a class of membership, Associate, that requires only the payment of dues. The associate stickers are sold each year, each year has a different color. Full members, the sworn cops, don't use stickers. They are identified by a metal star tag, bolted to their rear license plate. I know many cops who are Freemasons. I also know many Freemasons who are not cops. An FOP lodge has nothing to do with Freemasonry. A Masonic lodge has nothing to do with an Elks lodge, and so on. |
