Questions Related to chesapeake, virginia cars

Provided By Y! Answers

are there any car ferries running in the chesapeake bay?
Question:
Are there any car ferries running in virginia across the chesapeake bay?

Answer:
No. Here is a link to past car ferries: http://www.esva.net/~rwest/ferries.html There are 2 bridges and tunnels spanning the Chesapeake Bay which pretty much ended the car ferry business. It is cheaper to drive around the bay rather than hire a boat to serve as a ferry. If any ferry service exists, it is likely to be private, expensive and severely limited.

Car rental services in Chesapeake/Norfolk VA that will rent to someone 20 years of age?
Question:
I am flying to Norfolk/Chespeake Virginia, and I am going to need a car to drive there while I am there. I already know Enterprise and other big companies typically won't rent to anyone under 21, but are there any second-tier companies out there that will rent to me? It's pretty important that I have something to drive.

Answer:
Usually, Rent-A-Wreck requires renters to be at least 18 years old, but some locations may require a minimum age of 25 years. For consumers under 25, a credit card is usually required for payment and the rental rate may be higher. Please contact the individual Rent-A-Wreck car rental location for their specific age policies. "

What are bills that are necessary to pay when living on your own in Virginia?
Question:
I don't live on my own yet and Im planning on moving out next year. Of course, I want to know what I'm getting myself into before i actually get into it. I would like to know on average what type of living expenses and bills will need to be paid. Example: Apartment Rent ($500 maybe?), Utilities (what and what's not included?), Average groceries for one person, Car Insurance, Gas a week (automobile), cable, ETC. (add anything i left out please) I live in Virginia and i have seven cities to choose form...Hampton, Norfolk, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, New Port News, Chesapeake, and Portsmouth.

Answer:
You may need to pay for (some of these may be included, some may not, depending on the owner and what he/she pays for) rent, electric, gas, water, food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, furniture, dishes and cups, pots and pans, transportation (if your own car, gas, maintenance, insurance, tickets you may get), medical, dental, vision, clothing, washer/dryer, TV, cable/satellite, phone, computer, Internet access, emergency fund, and the list goes on and on. Once you have the one-time purchase items (furniture, dishes, pots/pans, etc.) a rough estimate is double the rent you pay for the month, and that's how much you need to get by. This doesn't include entertainment or an emergency fund, though, and does not include any credit cards or loans you may have to pay. It's not easy, and is why many young people have roommates to help with the cost of many of these items when they first move out of their parent's home.

Criminal Charge in Virginia Attorney Please Respond?
Question:
I'm in a huge dilemma here. I was fishing outside of Chesapeake and I had two rock fish that were below the legal limit on my stringer. Here is the problem. I had the department of natural resources I believe?? come up to me and ask me for my fishing license. I did not have one so I attempted to talk my way out of it. He was fine until he saw my stringer. He pulled my stringer from the water and saw 2 rock fish that were not of legal size and apparently out of season. He turned to me to ask my name and my instincts took control and I punched in the face. I jumped in my car and attempted to flee unfortunately I was pulled over by the cops about a mile down the road. The big problem is I was intoxicated and arrested for assault and battery, fishing without a license, fishing out of season, resisting arrest and driving drunk. Furthermore, when I arrived at the police station I spit on an officer. I need some serious advice pleaseeee. This is not a joke just give me names!!! Thank you!

Answer:
Wow, you are in a heap of trouble. Not only do you have the state charge of DWI but also the charge against fishing out of season. What were you thinking. Virginia has a pretty strict law on Drunk Driving , but pretty lax on dnr infractions. I don't care about a couple of undersized Rockfish, they are only fish by the way, that's all. Get an criminal defense lawyer now. Check out there websites for dwi, resisting arrest, fishing violations, and trespassing. Go to http://www.targetlaw.com and a search for Virginia Criminal Lawyer

How long do you think it will take me to go from Toronto to Montreal?
Question:
Then straight to Boston, through connecticut in a bit of a zig zag, then New York City, to Philadelphia, then Baltimore, through Richmond, Virginia, to Chesapeake, straight to Charlotte, North Carolina, to Nashville TN, then Memphis, through Baton Rouge, LA, to New Orleans, straight on to Houston, then San Antonio, Austin, Fort Worth, Dallas, Up to Lawton, OK, Oklahoma City, Enid Oklahoma, To Albuquerque, NM, Mesa, AZ, Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Stockton, Sacramento, Reno, NV, Portland OR, Tacoma, WA, Seattle, Vancouver Is. You see, I am looking where to go to college at. Plus, how much do you think it will cost? Driving all the way. My plan is to fly to Toronto from Germany, then get a drivers license and car there, and start on my way. I don't know where I'll stop, or where I'll end up. And, any suggestions of cool places to go while I'm in any of these cities. If you're just going to tell me its a stupid idea, then please refrain from leaving an answer. I'll probably stop for a few days in places that interest me, but don't count that in, just count in sleep time. I might pick up a friend in Lawton, so then we could take turns driving, too. I'm not sure if she's completely in though yet. i'm not gonna rent a car, i'm gonna buy one. thanks for the map quest idea though. this is actually less about college and more about where i wanna live, and work, where is the best place for me. and an adventure thing as well. three months seems a reasonable amount of time, i could hopefully figure out where i wanna be in that time and be there before school starts for the fall if I start early June.

Answer:
Problem number one -- unless you are 25, you can't rent a car. This type itinerary will take you a month just to drive it, three months to enjoy yourself at least a little bit. You need to go to www.mapquest.com and actually map out the distances and times. I won't venture a guess as to the cost. Gasoline will run $2.50-$3.50 per gallon depending on location. I think you need to narrow down your list of colleges and fly between the top three choices.

can you please check my English essay and correct it.?
Question:
“ Hurry up Katie, we are getting late. Are you in your room?” mom yelled from the kitchen downstairs. “Yes, mom I will be there in a minute” I yelled back from my room, while packing all the stuffs we might need at the beach. “Yes, finally we are going to the beach” I said to myself. Looking forward to this day since the beginning of my Summer vacation. The beach is one of my favorite place to go during the summer. In a rush picking up my bag went downstairs in a hasty that I almost tripped down the stairs . Upon arriving downstairs I could see all my family members were ready and enthusiastic for our day at the beach. We packed up our bags in my dad’s car and headed for the Virginia beach, located in the South Hampton Roads area of Virginia, on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. While, sitting in the car in order to not bore myself took my iPod out of my bag and started listening to some cool songs. Knowing that the trip would take approximately 3-4 hours downloaded some new songs as well. Singing along the beat of “Taking Back My Love” by Enrique Iglesias my brother asked if he could borrow my iPod for his enjoyable purpose. After handing the iPod to him, filled with tiredness decided to look out the car’s window. Through the window I happen to gaze my eyes upon the green forests along the road and promptly fell back asleep. Suddenly, the screeching noise of the car woke me up and finally realized our arrival at the beach. I don’t know how long I had fallen asleep for. When I asked my mom she told me I took an hour long nap. Without the waste of any more time I rushed out of the car quickly taking my belongings and strolled towards the beach with my family. Walking through the sand I could feel the hot sand squishing between my toes. The wind blew softly and tousling my hair away from my face. The smell of sun block, salty sea breeze and plastic floaters woke my mind. The sun was shining in my skin. The feeling of relaxation, serene and comfortableness rushed through me after a long time. Oh wow, I could sit here forever and forget about the rest of the world. Surfers in their suits were enjoying surfing at the same speed as the wave. Everyone looked pleased to be here especially my younger brother. He asked me to come with him so I went with him to play with the waves. At first the waves were small but later they were big and amusing. In a little while, my parents joined us too and we enjoyed ourselves keeping up with the waves. Later, we looked for shells, took few photos ,built sand castles. I love making sand castles. It is one of my favorite thing to do at the beach. I even wrote my name on the sea shore but it was gone in no time as the water washed it away. Guess it is a part of life old memories being replaced by the new ones. By the end of the day, I was extremely tired and starving to death. I had way too much fun that day. Finally, we changed and ate delicious food at this pretty restaurant on our way back. I wanted stay at the hotel by the beach but since my parents were busy with their work we couldn’t do so. “We can come to the beach sometime next month again and stay over there for few days” my dad told me in exciting voice. “ Really dad?” I replied back anxiously. I couldn't believe that I am coming to the beach again. The beauty of the ocean is irreplaceable by any other object of the world.I could live there forever and never get tired staring at the deepest blue ocean.

Answer:
You've got some great things here. I'm just going to help on some of the little things. The one major thing I saw is that you forgot "I" a whole lot. Here is how I would change it grammatically: “ Hurry up Katie, we are getting late. Are you in your room?” Mom yelled from the kitchen downstairs. “Yes, Mom, I will be there in a minute,” I yelled back from my room, while packing all the stuff we might need at the beach. “Yes, finally we are going to the beach,” I said to myself. I have a dilemma..............?
Question:
Ok, to start this off I KNOW this isn't the correct section for this question, but I DO need some opinions. So, I haven't been on vacation since I was 9 (I am 14 now), and my Mum and dad haven't been getting along swimmingly lately, so my Mum decided that the two of us would go on vacation. We can go pretty much anywhere in the mainland. Neither of us have any desire to go to the south, but we like out west and we like the northern east coast. So, we came up with 3 plans...... Plan #1.) We drive from where we live, somewhere on/near the east coast, and drive to Chesapeake, then we go to Virginia Beach, then Washington DC, Smithsonian, etc, then we go to the Baltimore Aquarium. That's plan #1. Plan #2.) We take a plane from where we live now to Denver, go to Yellowstone National Park, Rock Mountain National Park, Pikes Peak, the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devils Tower and Grand Teton National Park, etc. That's plan #2. Plan #3.) Drive from where we live to Michigan, take a boat to Mackinaw Island, go back to Michigan, get the car, drive to Lake Michigan, then drive to Lake Superior, then drive to Lake Huron, and get back home through Ottowa and Niagara Falls. So, my question is, what vacation would you choose?? And, trust me, I am NOT spoiled, this is my first vacation in 5 years. But, I am VERY VERY grateful.

Answer:
Plan 2 sounds awesome!
