Can anyone recommend a place to stay in Utah? West Jordan area to be specific?
Question:
I know there are a lot of places but I need some place not too expensive. My main concern is cleanliness and as close as possible to the West Jordan area. I'm visiting a friend and would like to forgoe on renting a car but don't want to be a burden either. Thanks

During the 1948 conflict in Palestine/West Bank what vehicles did Jordan's Arab Legion use...?
Question:
..I have seen photos of Marmon Herrington IVF armoured cars but what else? I know the TJFF had Staghounds at one stage but were these used/still in use?Glubb mentions Landrovers ( 1948 !) but I would of thought Jeeps. And what of softskins. Or can anyone point me in the right direction for books /websites on the subject. I wish you luck too Mike S. As to Croxx just interest having noticed a lack of info from the Arab viewpoint..

Answer:
Not sure here pardner but I seem to recall in my casual readings that Jordan was more or less established as a country by the Brits. I would think that they would arm any indigenous forces with their own equipment. But you are talking 1948 here and I'm sure the Brits had a hell of a lot of our Lend Lease equipment in their depots that they would be more than willing to dispose of, (costs dollars or pounds to maintain the equipment in 'Go To War' standard. I'm thinking that in 1948 a lot of that equipment could be found in the Middle East. I mean hell, the Israelis flew Messerschmidts for god's sake. I'm not sure of websites here, I've never really done any research on this, but I'm gonna look and see what I can find. I'll let you know. Good luck to you.

Are there any Israeli Jews who would visit the West Bank?
Question:
I mean, apart from as a soldier! For education or pleasure? I know there are groups such as Rabbis for Justice, but I mean would any of you reading this go there? It's true that at most checkpoints the IDF won't let you cross with an Israeli passport, but many of you have dual nationality and even Israelis can go to Jericho, where they've built a big casino in the hope of attracting Israelis. I'm not advocating going to the casino, but there's a wonderful (and hardly used) cable car up to the Mount of Temptation from where you can see the whole Jordan valley, the Dead Sea and the mountains of Jordan. Would you be OK with the idea of helping the Palestinian economy, just a little bit? And would you feel safe? I've taken Jews to Bethlehem and they've been perfectly safe.

Answer:
It depends, what are their stands on Israel. If it was a Jew from Ocean Parkway or Brooklyn and acting all extreme and saying this is his land, I'm sure he would live in our land happily in our Palestinian land, but he would be a pathetic coward and never leave his house!

Possible trip to Jordan and Jerusalem with family wife/2 kids. Ideas? Travel warnings? Safety?
Question:
We travel extensively, but not usually in such "hot" spots. Renting a car a bad idea? Do we go through west bank to get to jerusalem from dead sea-jordan side? My philosophy is treat others as you would like to be treated-respect their faith and country as guests/visitors-however I am from U.S. and I do not want problems. Everything I have read says that Jordanian people are super friendly/accomadating. Turkey is a 2nd choice for vacation. Any ideas/tips would be greatly appreciated

Answer:
Jordanians are the most polite people I've come cross, next to Persians and Egyptians. I've heard many times though, that if you plan on traveling to Jerusalem, make it the last place you visit before you come back home because some countries will not let you pass their borders if they see the Israel stamp on your passport.

Here the list of prohibitions concerning the Palestinians, according to the OCHA. Is this Apartheid?
Question:
(Office of the United Nations for the coordination of the humane businesses) permanent Prohibitions: - the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip cannot remain in the West Bank; the Palestinians do not have the right to enter Jerusalem-est; - those of the West Bank cannot enter Gaza by the point of control of Erez; - they cannot go in the valley of the Jordan; - they have prohibition to go in the villages, the grounds, the cities and the neighbourhoods of the zone (seam line) located between the partition wall and the "green line"; - they do not have the right to enter the colonies (even if their grounds are inside the colonized zone); - they do not have the right to enter by car to Nablus; - the Palestinians residing in Jerusalem cannot go in zone A (in the Palestinian cities of the West Bank); - those of the Gaza Strip have prohibition to enter to the West Bank by the check-point of Allenby (Jordanian border) We Arab we are terrorists and the Zionists are the arm tended towards peace. But say me how you can to make peace with somebody which kills your mother the morning and kills your daughter the evening, which tears off your olive-tree, which drives out you your ground, of your house, which deprives you to circulate, to eat, of drinking, to sleep, breathe.

Answer:
There is that small matter of the UN in 1947 trying to do what was best for all parties involved ( you sound like one of those big UN supporter's) and give some of the historical land claimed by both parties to each but one side chose war. I guess it doesn't matter that one side, the Arab side has 21 nation's in their group, none Democratic, none who govern by Human right's principles and you have Israel, a Democracy who support's universal human right's for people who do not want to destroy it. You do know that there are Arab's that vote in Israel don't you? Want to take a guess on how many Jew's vote in those 21 Arab nation's? I often wonder how American's come to be on the side of the barbarian's (in my opinion) the people who are less like us and our values and against the people most like us who live in the 21st century, made an oasis out of the desert you say nobody in their right mind would want to live in, but then I remember, they even have a word for it, Anti Semitic!

Obama: Mideast Peace Moment "Must Be Seized" (AP) Struggling to break decades of hostility, President Barack Obama convened a new round of ambitious Mideast peace talks Wednesday and told Israeli and Palestinian leaders they faced a fleeting chance to settle deep differences. "This moment of opportunity may not soon come again," Obama said at the White House before hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the first face-to-face peace talks in nearly two years. "They cannot afford to let it slip away." Obama sought to temper expectations, noting that it had taken his administration this long just to get the two sides back to the bargaining table. "The hard work is only beginning," Obama said, with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and special Middle East peace envoy George Mitchell at his side. "Neither success nor failure is inevitable. But this much we know: If we do not make the attempt, then failure is guaranteed. If both sides do not commit to these talks in earnest, then long-standing conflict will only continue to fester and consume another generation, and this we simply cannot allow." In a carefully arranged series of talks designed to lay the final groundwork for formal negotiations, Obama met separately with Netanyahu and Abbas as well as with Jordan's King Abdullah II and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Later they all gathered for dinner, a private prelude to Thursday's scheduled start of formal negotiations at the State Department. In his Rose Garden remarks, Obama noted that many are skeptical, a view underlined by two days of Palestinian attacks on Israelis in the disputed West Bank. "We are under no illusions," Obama said. "Passions run deep. Years of mistrust will not disappear overnight." In earlier remarks after his meeting with Netanyahu, Obama assailed those responsible for the killings of four Israelis near the West Bank city of Hebron on Tuesday. The militant Hamas movement, which rejects Israel's right to exist and opposes peace talks, claimed responsibility. On Wednesday, Israeli police reported still another attack, saying Palestinian militants wounded two Israelis driving in the West Bank. The car in which the wounded Israelis were riding was riddled with bullets. Direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations broke off almost two years ago, in December 2008, and the Obama administration spent its first 20 months in office coaxing the two sides back to the bargaining table. Obama was adamant Wednesday that extremist violence would not derail the process. "There are going to be extremists and rejectionists who, rather than seeking peace, are going to be seeking destruction," he said. "The United States is going to be unwavering in its support of Israel's security. And we are going to push back against these kinds of terrorist attacks. And so the message should go out to Hamas and everyone else who is taking credit for these heinous crimes that this is not going to stop us." Expectations for the Washington talks are low, yet the stakes are high. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a constant source of grievance and unrest among Muslims. The failure of past peace efforts has left both sides with rigid demands and public ambivalence about the value of a negotiated settlement.

A Wednesday night hockey survey???
Question:
1. Congrats! You've just won the Stanley Cup for a day.....what do you do with it first? 2. How do you feel about Stefan Legein's choice to hang up the skates at age 19? Is there more to this story than we've heard? 3. Would you rather see Mats Sundin (ugh, I'm tired of hearing about him now but I decided I had to ask one thing about him) in the East or the West? 4. I prefer my team's white away jersey to their black home one. With your team do you prefer their home or away jersey? 5. Today I heard that Johnny Depp, Colin Farrel, and Jude Law gave the money they earned from working on a movie to Heath Ledger's (RIP) daughter http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/goddess/matilda-ledgers-guar dian-angels/85?nc It caught me at shock because it's been a while since I've heard any "nice guy" stories. Who do you think is the most generous player in the NHL and which NHL player could you imagine being a "Johnny Depp" or a "Colin Farrel" or a "Jude Law" in this story? 6. What will happen when Chris Simon gets kicked out of the Russian league? Will he be flipping burgers at McDonalds? Will he be blowing up balloon animals at kid's birthday parties? 7. How long do you think it'll be until Yahoo fixes this glitch here in the hockey section? 8. I thought I saw Jordan Staal in a car last week in southern PA about 30 minutes away from WV, and earlier that week I thought I saw Wayne Gretzky in a McDonalds. Have you ever thought you saw a hockey player and it wasn't really them? 9. Will Ryan Whitney being out for 3-5 months effect the Penguins this season? 10. Do you think Howard can beat out Conklin for the Wing's back up goalie spot? Sorry that the questions are kinda lame..........I'm not a very creative person if any of you have noticed, lol.

Answer:
1.) Have a party with it, then bring it to the local hockey rink so that the kids can take pictures with it. 2.) Yeah, there's definitely more to the story than we know. What hockey player, who recently got drafted, would want to quit?? 3.) In the West so that my team doesn't have to play him! As annoying as he's been by not signing a contract, you have to admit he's pretty damn good. 4.) I like the Devils' white jerseys better. The home jerseys have too much red on them. 5.) Vincent Lecavalier recently donated $3 million to a children's hospital. True, he's making a lot of money but $3 million is a little less than half his salary for a year! That's VERY generous. 6.) Flipping burgers by day, rehab and anger management classes by night. 7.) At the rate they're going at, next season... 8.) Yes! I was visiting my brother who lives in Manhattan, and he took me to a bakery where I saw this guy working there who looks EXACTLY like Bill Guerin! Even my brother agreed. He was just not as muscular. lol. It obviously couldn't be him, unless Guerin's secret dream was to work in a bakery and he ditched his game that night lol. I also thought I saw Pavel Bure at a mall in NJ, but I know for sure I saw retired Devils player Tommy Albelin at the Devils' old practice rink when I was skating with my friends. 9.) It's definitely going to hurt, but I don't think it's going to make a substantial impact on their rank in the standings. He's a great player, and the Pens definitely have to step it up. 10.) No. If Conklin proved he could be a solid goalie in Pittsburgh, then he's definitely going to at least get the backup spot. Plus, the Wings wouldn't have signed him if they didn't think so.
