Is a illegal fireworks citation serious in Provo, Utah?
Question:
I got pulled over after a somebody reported to the police about me lighting off fireworks and got a citation for it. A few days later I got a letter in the mail that needed me to show up in court. I've never had a criminal record aside from a speeding ticket, what is going to happen? It's probably serious that they told me to show up in court right? It wasn't a lot, just like 100 dollars worth of fireworks. I didn't even know it was illegal until the police pulled me over and told me so. There were even advertisements in the newspaper for these fireworks. Also would it affect my friend if I told the judge that we split the bill between the fireworks? The fireworks were in my car so I pretty much admitted to the charges. Any way to lower the charges at least?

Answer:
Just be honest and ask for community service, etc...It is a huge deal in California. Bring in the newspaper advertisement but do not try to use it as an excuse, ask why it is advertised if illegal. Note-look at the fine print on the advertisement 1st

I need a new car and want a good one that will last?
Question:
Our car just lost its tranny and we need a new one ASAP. What are avenues or options we can use. We are located in Provo Utah. Would be interested in someone selling a car or in information in where to find afordable and dependable cars.

Answer:
A tranny isn't always the end of the world. It could be cheaper to just get it fixed. And really, virtually any "good" car will be junk in few years without proper maintenance. And what is even less understood is how most cars will outlast you, if they are aggressively maintained. But to answer you question, go with a model 2k or newer and avoid the base models. You'll get the advantage of better technology in manufacturing and higher resale.

Where should I go in Utah to experience the Mormon life?
Question:
I've been intrigued by the LDS religion for some time (not because I want to join, I just think it's interesting), so naturally I want to see what Utah is like. I'm not sure where all I should go, though. I'd fly into Salt Lake City and visit Provo, and I'd also like to see Ogden. But where else? Should I rent a car and drive around? If so, what other places should I visit to satiate my fascination with Mormonism and Utah?

Answer:
Rent a car in SL Go to Logan. Stay at the Bridgerland Motel. Set out on foot and hike up the hill to USU. Hang out in the library and student union. Visit the stores on the main street and talk to the people. Attend a worship service at any Stake House on Sunday. Visit the catherdral but don't expect to attend a service there. Visit one of the non-mormon churches on Sunday to see how they handle being in the minority. Good luck...I spent four years there as a non-mormon. It was great for the education and for the beautiful scenery. But, if you aren't interested in converting, my experience showed you will be really limited in making lasting friendships and romance can't even be considered. Oh, if you do go to USU's Library, please visit the "Special Collections" section. They have many old historical documents there that make for fascinating reading and the room is furnished with 1800's period furniture. (Read old and uncomfortable but fitting.) Wow, did you bring back some memories! Also, you may want to read Kathleen Flake's book before you go. She is a brilliant Mormon woman who has looked at their culture from all perspectives. She revived my faith in humanity for her kindness and wisdom even though I don't believe in her religion at all. She teaches theology at Vanderbilt and wrote about the church's separation from polygamy.

Advice for a 2-day road trip: Ut to Fla?
Question:
In 2 weeks, I will be driving my car from Provo, Utah to Jacksonville, Fla. I'll be taking 2 kitty cats and my mom for support. I've never done a trip this big (11 hrs is my max) and I'm planning on taking the I-80 through WY, then continuing through NE, Missouri, IL, KY, TN, Ga and then down into Florida on the I-75. Can anyone offer any advice for this trip? I'm looking for planning and preperation tips, recommended restaurants along the way, tips for traveling with pets, tourist spots if they are close to the freeways.... etc... this won't be a liesurely road trip and we have to get there fast - but if something is worth stopping to see, we will. Thanks in advance! Thanks for some of these tips so far. I appreciate them. I'm not taking this trip for vacation though - I'm moving to Florida. Thanks! Wow - thanks for the detailed re-route! Driving south to Vegas adds about 6-7 hrs to the trip, but do you think it is better to go along the 10 this time of year? Oh no mom is going to do driving. I'm realizing that we'll have to stop occassionally. I'm just worried about driving that long with the cats, since they won't take the drive too well. But we'll stop for sure.

Answer:
Simply put there is no way in hell you do that in 2 days .Try 3.5-4 instead. You're routing is also wrong Try I-15S to Las Vegas US 93 S over Hoover Dam and into Kingman AZ Get gas in Kingman I-40 E to US 93 S to Wickenberg AZ US 60 E towards Phoenix Left on SR 74 - Carefree highway I-17 S 2 exits to Loop 101>Scottdale/Chandler Loop 202 west to I-10 I-10 to JAX Sorry I'm in a bit of a hurry i'll finish this in a couple of hours Edit > Just so know ;As a rule i don't send people down roads that I havent driven and on the rare the occassions that i do it's only for 10-30 mile stretches that connect a couple of roads. Also I'm an old guy that has done a lot of long distance driving -I'm not a trucker but i have put the miles -which is how I know that that 2 days is impossible. OK ? If want a really cool scenic route and you dont mind 2 lane high speed roads -try this which I've driven many times. I-15 S >UT SR 9 into Hurricane ...get gas end of town make a right go a couple of blocks make a hard uphill left on SR 59 take that thru colorado city az into fredonia az make right on 89a take that over to US 89 S via Jacob Lake & Lees Ferry I would take US 89 all the way into Flagstaff and find I-40 E to Albuquerque and I-25 S to I-10 Somewhere betwen Flagstaff and Albuquerque you'll be spending a night , get back to me if you have more q's

Will my car make it across country?
Question:
I have a 2001 Hyundai Elantra with 156k miles on it, by the time i make the trip it will have at least 158k . i was wondering what you guys think? do you think that it will make it from Maine to Provo, Utah? it has had a few problems, nothing really mechanacle, well i just got the 3rd cylender fixed because it was dead, and the o2 sensor needs to be fixed, but that isnt a big deal... what do you guys thing, think it will make it?

Answer:
highway driving is actually not near as hard as stop and go is around your home. that said, if the mechanic just worked on it, this would be the guy yo ask that question, clean fresh oil is good, and a clean air filter, your not breaking any speed records so find a comfortable speed and cruise it. It does seem intimidating to take a long trip, I would go to the mechanic, and ask him what his opinion is hope this helps
