Does anyone know any good fishing holes around the Layton/Clearfield/Syracuse, Utah area?
Question:
I'm looking for a nice spot to freshwater fish. Nothing in particular, just where I can go and enjoy my fishing time. I take the bus or hike so it would have to be a place I could access without a car. Please let me know any suggestions. Thanks!

Answer:
Try Kaysville Pond. My little brother (fishing fanatic) goes there all the time. DWR stocks it with trout and channel cat every year, plus I think they have bluegill and other sunfish and largemouth, too. It is by the Utah Botanical Center off of I-15. Go to 200 N., then to Main St. and turn right and proceed to 50 W; it is on 50 W. between 550 and 900 S. I think a bus can get you to Main Street in Kaysville with no problem, and you should be able to walk from there. There is also Holmes Creek Reservoir in Layton - it is on the east side, just west of Hwy 89 on Gentile. It has largemouth, crappie, and bluegill, and the occasional walleye. I know there are busses that go up and down Hwy 89 all the time, with stops fairly close to Gentile, so you should be OK there, too. Try the Utah DWR Community Fishing website (http://www.wildlife.utah.gov/cf/), and the UTA website (www.utabus.com). Hope this helps - good luck!
