Anyone with a knowledge of cars willing to help? Question: Okay. My car is a 1995 Ford Taurus, with about 77,600 miles on it. I just got a full service oil change and brand new tires put on about 170 miles ago. The only problem with my car is that the brake rotor-somethings "need to be turned, but won't hurt if they're not."
I live in San Angelo, Texas and in August, I'm planning on going to Dallas to see Blue October perform. Based on the given information, do you think my car can make it to and from Dallas safely? If it can't be determined through Yahoo! Answers, is there someone I can take it to, free of charge, to look at and see if my car's up to the trip?
they only said i needed to have the rotors turned because when I brake, it starts to lightly shake the car.
Answer:
if everything else is in working order and all they told you was that your brake rotors needed to be turned but are ok then your car is ok....but if your gonna go on a big trip just make sure that all your fluids are topped off and your tires are at the right pressure...if it was all done less than a tank of gas ago then you will be just fine...but keep in mind that no one really turns rotors anymore....they are only around $40-$50 each for new ones so its easier to just replace them....next time you do your breaks have them checked/replaced.
