Trip to Houston, Texas?

I am from southern california and I will be flying to Houston, Texas during the last weekend of June 2011 for a relative's wedding. It will be my first time to Houston and I want to know as a visitor is there anything to see or do in the area (amusement parks, malls, beaches etc). I would only have two days for siteseeing before going back to California. How is the weather during that weekend ? Is it hot and humid like Florida ? I am not sure if I will be renting a car to get around. How is public transportation (buses) to get around ? What is the price for the buses (bus pass per day) ? Is it easy getting around on the bus ? What is the sales tax in Houston, Texas if I purchase anything ? I will be staying in Pearland. How far is the city of Pearland from Houston ? Pearland is about 25 minutes from the center of Houston so you will probably want to rent a car if you want your freedom. Kemah, NASA & Galveston are nice places to visit closer to Pearland. Once you are in Houston, you would probably enjoy The Galleria, the largest mall in Texas, and our great Museum District. Okay so I was looking at this insanely well priced car on craigslist but I am afraid that it is a scam... I don't really trust this whole delivery bit and everything that she's talking about but she did provide the vin# soooo... what do I do? Here is the email: Hello there, I'm writing you regarding my Honda Pilot. The car is still for sale. My asking price for the car is $3400. The car is currently located in Pearland, TX. It is a 2003 model loaded with everything. Currently the car has 59,951 miles, the VIN# is XXXXXXXXXXXX. The car is very well maintained, it has just been completely serviced. The engine runs very good and the automatic transmission shifts perfectly. I'm selling the car because I don't have time to enjoy it due to my job (I work as a casino dealer on a cruise ship) plus that I have some financial problems and I need money very soon. I have to tell you that I'm currently at work and I left the car in Texas at the shipping company, it's already packed and waiting to be shipped anywhere. Here is something else you need to pay attention to. These scammers are a team. They have constructed an elaborate website that looks and feels like an Ebay site, but it isn't. Pay attention to the fine detail of the URL, it is real similar, but not the same as the real thing. They require a deposit of half the sale price. Once you send it (Western Union, not paypal - red flag!!!) they are gone and you will not be able to recover.
