Can I report a state strooper for harrassment for following me for 20 min. and inventing something to stop me? Question: I live in McAllen Texas, and I was driving to San Antonio Texas, 15 minutes before arriving to Falfurrias checkpoint a state trooper drove by my side around 20 seconds and was staring at me, I was going 68 mph in a 70 mph highway, I'm not stupid enough to go faster if I see a State trooper by my side. After that he decided to drive behind me, there were cars going at 75 and 80 mph and the state trooper never went after them, he was just waiting for me to do a mistake so I gave him no excuse or reasons.
Once we arrived at the checkpoint the Border Patrol Agent just asked me if I was an American Citizen, where was I from, where was I going and what was I going to do at San Antonio, he let me go so I drove very fast at 75 mph so I wouldn't have that annoying state trooper behind me again, after I left the Falfurrias checkpoint this state trooper got right back to me 3 or 4 miles later, he was probably going 90 mph and then decided to drive behind me again for atleast 5 minutes, there was a trailer going at 60 mph so I put my signal to pass him I checked to see if the left lane was clear I was going 68 mph in a 70 mph highway and I passed him, as soon as I passed him the state trooper stoped me and I was already pissed.
He asked me to get off my car trying to give me some driving classes telling me that I passed the trailer too slow (68mph), so I told him not to bull-shit me and tell me the true reason why he stoped me, and he didn't know what to say so he just asked for my liscense, he went to his car and then came back and I was still pissed, so I asked him to be a man and tell the truth and the reason why he was following me so he told me that was his job "to drive".
This is the second experience I have had with a state trooper, this guy saw I was so angry he didn't even ask me for my insurance, he didn't even check my car because I mentioned the term harrasment so he told me he would only give me a warning.
THe first state trooper that stoped me told me I was speeding 71 mph in a 70 mph highway, then told me I had a criminal record wich I don't, then invented I had weed in my car which was false, he never showed me anything.
I'm hispanic, I have a mustache, not because I like to have it but because I need to have it because I'm an actor and I was going to shoot a commercial and they asked me to let it grow, the same as the first time a state trooper stoped me, I had to let my beard grow for an audition in Austin Texas.
This second time I didn't react well, I'm just afraid if this happens again I won't react better than the last time and I might do or say something stupid because I think this has to do with racial issues or Physical appearance discrimination.
Can I report this person for harrassment?
Ron: Thank you, but I'm an actor and I get payed and eat thanks to my appearance.
rermain2: It scare me that this stupid state trooper told me I have a criminal record, but it's annoying to know he made all of that sh-it up to try to make things easier for him and to try to spit something out incase I had something to hide. This stupid state trooper told me I had marijuana leafs and seeds to justify taking all of the back seats of my car off because I physically looked like a drug dealer in his short mind.
And yes, he is stupid as the same as the second one that stoped me.
Answer:
Sure you can. I've known, and asked the same question of other cops. If you have his badge number or name you can file a complaint that will go on his record. Your solitary experience might not be enough to get him in trouble but if he gets 3-5 notes on his file it might.
It might just knock him down a notch or two.
TX cops are the worst & I'm sure the experience is magnified for Latinos.
You might try looking up the NAACP too and file a complaint with them. They tend to get things done or atleast stir up a storm that's hard to settle.
