Answer:
Hey, Not all those laws are bad. Especially that one about another man milking my cow. I was following sage advice when i was told why buy milk when i can own my cow. That's why i got married. It would bother me to no end to know another man was milking my cow.

Does this car fall under the lemon law? What are my rights?
Question:
I live in Abilene TX, and about four months ago I purchased a 1999 Ford Taurus from Abilene Used Car Sales , the car was sold "AS IS" but did include a limited 30-day warranty by the second week the car was having major transmission problems, i took it back and the manager drove it and said that he didn't see anything wrong with it. So I just left it alone , just last week the cars transmission stalled and the car overheated I pulled over over immediately called the car lot and they towed it in for repairs , so they ended up fixing the a/c , transmission & a corroded freeze plug, i payed 125$ down on the repair fees and agreed to pay the rest out. Within twenty minutes of me driving it the temp gauge went all the way up and the engine started knocking i pulled over and called the car lot and they sent a tow truck to come and get it and when i asked what to do about a ride home they said " sorry i can only send a tow truck" so i had to walk 3 miles to get home in the Texas heat, anyhow i also noticed that on the underside of the engine there is a ton of rust? what could this be? Last time they had the car in to fix they had it for a week and now who knows how long they will have it again so none the less i am stranded and afoot and it really sucks i don't know what to do this car has repeatedly made me late for work and left me stuck on the side of the road in this terrible heat wave i am not sure what to do at this point Any advice or comments greatly appreciated Thanks!

Answer:
Your rights ? You bought a car as-is. You're an owner. Ive never heard of as is and a warranty. Cant be both, Its one or the other.

Am I stuck with this P.O.S. or it the seller liable for the damage?

And as for Scott H and alfredb1979, I paid for the repairs out of my pocket and when i picked up the car within twenty minutes it broke down so whatever your opinion is , mine is that if i pay for something they had better get it right, no matter i spoke with a lawyer to day and she is going to force the lot to pay for the damage caused buy bad repairs

Answer:
Is the title for this car clean? This car sounds like a Katrina Flood victim. I'm just speculating but if there is that much rust around the engine this car had to be submerged. I'd be asking some questions about the title to see it has a salvage title or a repaired title (use to be salvage but is now showing clean). I think you got screwed and if this is the case you can sue.

AM I SCREWD on this or can i get out of it?

See if your state has a lemon law - I would also contact a lawyer about what you can do.

What can my husband do to get us out of Dyess AFB in Abilene,TX?
Question:
He has been in there air force for about two and a half years and we have been stationed here almost two years of that. I am from Oregon where the weather is manageable and where people are friendly. I effing hate Texas. It's too hot and it costs a lot of money for me to go home a few times a year. I miss my family sooo much. Hubby and I want to be stationed in Seattle, WA. What can we do to get stationed somewhere else? PS.. We live off base in the most horrible area right now because we are on the waiting list for base housing. My area is loaded with drug dealers and thiefs who like to key our car and put stuff in our keyhole so we can't lock our front door. Do you think if I told them that, that would get us into base housing sooner or no? Thanks in advance to all who answer!!! God bless To the people that are being rude to me, that was not very nice at all. I did nothing wrong except ask an innocent question.

Answer:
I'm a little late in answering your question because it didn't pop up on my list until now but I'm also an AF spouse. We're stationed at Hill AFB in Utah and I honestly would take your duty station over ours any day of the week. The summers here reach 120 degrees and it might rain twice a year.. in the autumn, so there's no moisture in the air....ever. So far in the last week we've gotten about a foot of snow and this state doesn't believe in snow plows or salting the roads. It's currently 17 degrees outside. It took me an hour to make a 15 minute trip to my OB because of the snow. Snow in and of itself is manageable... or so I thought until I got to utah. Unfortunately, some of the other answers you've gotten are correct in the fact that the base housing office has a list of places you shouldn't rent. This list is compiled by people who've had the experience of living in those particular places. The choice of where to rent is completely yours. When you're new at a base and new to the military, sometimes people don't know these things but if you've been there two years, you've got through at least one 1 year lease and an opportunity to get the know the area and move somewhere else. As far as being stationed at a base of choice, he'll have to take an overseas duty like Korea. If he volunteers for an unaccompanied tour, it will be for one year and he'll most likely get his choice of duty station after he's done. If he applies for an accompanied tour, it will be 2 years and you get to go with him but it doesn't resolve that you want to be with your other family. Other than that, there's really nothing you can do unless he hits his reenlistment period and applies for re-training in another field. There are guys that work in my husbands shop who have been stationed here in Utah for 8+ years. Another guy has been here 14 years. Bottom line is that the AF says they put family first but the reality is that they put family second and the good of the air force first. I'd rather be with my family in NJ also, especially because I'm having the first grandchild for both sides but I knew what I was getting into when I married my husband. My baby won't get to meet their grandparents until he's almost a year old. These are the choices we make for the men we love. Chin up, you could be stationed at Minot, or somewhere in the boonies of Alaska.
