My next car, just need to know the insurance. Asking you guys might prevent me a whole lot of hassle and harassment from the insurance companies. Should this couple face child neglect charges or should the media take pity on them?
Question:
"Couple finishes restaurant meal while child tied in hot car CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (AP) -- Police in northwest Georgia have rescued a boy from a hot car where his mother's companion is accused of tying him up. Ringgold, Georgia, police say a Cracker Barrel restaurant employee called police after seeing Raymond Minchew take the 6-year-old out of the restaurant and return without him -- then finished eating his meal. Ringgold is 13 miles southeast of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Police found the bound boy sitting in the car, crying. Sgt. John Gass says the child was soaked with sweat and had a rope tied to one of his ankles. Gass says the temperature was in the 80s Saturday in Ringgold." http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/06/13/child.hot.car.ap/i ndex.html

Answer:
Both of them should face charges. That poor little boy could have died from the heat in that car.

Are there coyotes in Tennessee?
Question:
Chattanooga to be exact. Around 3:30 am I heard something on my porch. I walked outside to discover a coyote trying to get under my car to get the kittens we have outside. It didn't look like any dog I've ever seen. I've heard stories from my neighbors about coyotes and wolves around our neighborhood but I never payed much attention. I highly doubt there are wolves around here. But I'm not 100% sure about the coyotes. The thing did get a hold of one of my kittens. Probably before I got outside. We found it dead in the neighbor's yard this morning when the sun came up. The mother cat has dried up blood drool all over her back but no wounds. She's super sad. I just want to know if there are indeed coyotes in Tennessee. No. It wasn't just a stray dog. I've seen a coyote and I've seen stray dogs. This was no random homeless dog.

Answer:
Yes there are coyotes http://www.newschannel9.com/articles/chattanooga-989780-seems-s omething.html http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient& ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLL_enUS373US373&q=Are+there+coyotesin+tennesse# hl=en&rlz=1T4GGLL_enUS373US373&sa=X&ei=lh3NTb67FMrB0AG-04XtDQ&ved =0CBkQvwUoAQ&q=Are+there+coyotes+in+tennessee&spell=1&bav=on.2,or .r_gc.r_pw.&fp=7943f865cd6ba416 Didn't find anything on wolves

DS: What do you think of the way this was handled?
Question:
This is an article from our local paper that covered the story from Tennessee. I think it is a great way to force owners, no matter what the breed or mix, to attend obedience classes. At least they didn't give the dog a death sentence. I don't like the part about wearing a tag though...what good is that gonna do? Dog that attacked police cars must attend classes Friday, March 26, 2010 8:42:51 AM CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.(AP) A pit bull mix in Tennessee has been sentenced to obedience training after his dogged attack on a local police car. Winston didn't bite anybody, but he mauled a Chattanooga police car in what might have been a confused attempt to take a bite out of crime. The persistent pooch managed to tear off a section of the front bumper and damage the tires. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that a judge ruled that Winston had been a very bad dog. He was sentenced to obedience and canine good citizen classes, and he'll have to wear a tag that says he is "potentially dangerous." Charges against his owner will be dismissed if the classes are completed successfully. Owner Nancy Emerling said Winston got out of a fenced-in area at a welding shop March 14. . Legit: Do you think court ordered Obedience class is a good idea? .

Answer:
Wow! This judge had some sense! Good for him! I'm so glad that this pit mix didn't get put down! Usually, there is no hope in these types of cases. I think forcing his stupid owner to take him to obedience class is a GREAT idea! I don't like the tag though. The poor dog is only "potentially dangerous" because his owner didn't train him or supervise him when he was outside in the first place.

Answer:
Not all of these are actual riots, like the Los Angeles riot (that was a REAL riot.) Some of these are mis-named either because of press hype or because of racism on the part of local officials. Most of these are blown way out of proportion by calling them a "riot". For example, I lived near Plainfield, NJ in 1968 and there was a disturbance there, but I wouldn't call it a riot. And you'll notice that there are many incidents that are not called a riot, but also involve mass mob violence in which WHITE people attacked black people. A good example is the town of Rosewood in Florida. In 1923 there was such a horrific event there that the entire black population was either murdered or forced to flee for their lives, and the town was wiped off the face of the map. There were many events like this from the end of the 19th century, right up through the civil rights era of the 1950s and even early 1960s. Why weren't they called "riots"? EDIT: I just noticed you included the Stonewall Riot. You really should look that up. It had nothing to do with race! Gay New Yorkers, tired of being beaten and abused by police, fought back in what is historically considered the beginning of the Gay rights movement. While I'm sure there were Black people there, most of the people fighting the police were White. Do you just think the word "riot" implies "Black people" is that how you accidentally included this one? That says a lot about where you're coming from.

Where is the scariest place you've ever driven?
Question:
Where had the most dangerous traffic/conditions? I haven't had my license long, so I've only driven in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. The scariest place I've ever driven was where I-59 and I-20 split in Birmingham, AL. Fast, congested traffic, people changing lanes with barely enough space all over, people slamming on their brakes. Closely followed by I-24 near Chattanooga. Steep mountain roads with lots of curves, diesels everywhere constantly passing each other, and cars are expected to drive bumper-to-bumper.

Answer:
All interstates scare me. Had a tanker truck on my tail at 80MPH in heavy traffic through Atlanta once. Saw a big rig blow a tire in Jacksonville. Bumper-to-bumper traffic going 65MPH on I-65. I-24 between the I-59 and I-75 junctions is too many interstates in too few lanes. I would rather take US highways or state roads and take a little longer to avoid the tension of the interstates. And, yeah, not too happy coming over Monteagle with the trucks.

Answer:
lol that's crazy road trip. Last year i went from Toronto to Miami Florida. I didn't really plan any stops as they just come to us. We just keep moving until we wanted to main cities and chill for a bit. a good updated GPS would do. we used it to locate gas, parks, beaches, hotels. One Great hint: stop at all rest areas and pick-up state guide for more info and hotels coupons. we found great deals that way. we got 2 bed room hotel for only $35USA with breakfast, swimming pool and snacks. If i were you get unlimited km car rental. that's what we did. Good luck on the trip i sure love to go again.
