How Fast WERE You Going? Question: A friend, driving home from a fishing trip in northern Michigan with his boat in tow, had engine trouble a few miles inland from Lake Huron. He didn't have a CB radio in his car, so he decided to use his marine radio to get help. Climbing into his boat, he broadcast his call letters and asked for assistance. A Coast Guard officer responded, "Please give your location." "I'm on Interstate-75, two miles south of Standish." The officer paused, "Could you repeat that?" "I-75, two miles south of Standish." A longer pause. Then an incredulous voice asked, "How fast were you going when you hit shore?" Answer: Not bad! |

The 24-year-old Tomczak served with the Army's 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. Details of his death have not been released yet by the Defense Department. Answer: It is a state of war; people are trying to kill our brave young service men and women. They often fail but some days they succeed in detonating a concealed bomb and killing our troops. This is to be expected until we either eliminate the problem or force them to withdraw. You seem to be taking some perverse pleasure in rubbing our noses in the fact the courageous young people are dying. You can take some small measure of comfort that Zachary Tomczak died to defend your right to take his name in vain, your right to exercise your stupidity. Zachary Tomczak was a proud volunteer, he was probably looking forward to coming home to the world and enjoying his life and dreams. Instead he was required to make the ultimate sacrifice for his country. You do not have the right to invoke his name, to poster upon his honor. You have proven yourself to be the lowest of the low by using him to support your weak discourse. |

Is this true about the Michigan State Police?????? Question: Heads Up for what it's worth ~just saw this; Michigan will launch a > 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million > dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay > state troopers overtime. There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all > times patrolling the 6 main intersections and highways. > > I-75 north and south > I-4 (from Ann Arbor to Port Huron) > entire length of I-696 > I-275 north and south > M-10 Lodge Fwy > I-96 from Detroit West to M-14 > > Now, 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper > is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They > have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and they are > bringing all their part timers on full time. If you work anywhere in the > Detroit Metropolitan area, you must take one of there interstates, > routes, or parkways. It's up to you how fast you are doing when they do. > > > Wear your seat belt, nothing hanging from the rear view mirror, do the > speed limit (not a mile over) use cruise control if you have it, no > cracks in your windshield, use your turn signals. > > > > > > Answer: LOL, no that is most certaintly not true. I have several friends who commute around the capital everyday and regularly go above the speed limit. This appears to be some sort of scare-tactic to get people to slow down, just for laughs. |

I have a dilemma..............? Question: Ok, to start this off I KNOW this isn't the correct section for this question, but I DO need some opinions. So, I haven't been on vacation since I was 9 (I am 14 now), and my Mum and dad haven't been getting along swimmingly lately, so my Mum decided that the two of us would go on vacation. We can go pretty much anywhere in the mainland. Neither of us have any desire to go to the south, but we like out west and we like the northern east coast. So, we came up with 3 plans...... Plan #1.) We drive from where we live, somewhere on/near the east coast, and drive to Chesapeake, then we go to Virginia Beach, then Washington DC, Smithsonian, etc, then we go to the Baltimore Aquarium. That's plan #1. Plan #2.) We take a plane from where we live now to Denver, go to Yellowstone National Park, Rock Mountain National Park, Pikes Peak, the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devils Tower and Grand Teton National Park, etc. That's plan #2. Plan #3.) Drive from where we live to Michigan, take a boat to Mackinaw Island, go back to Michigan, get the car, drive to Lake Michigan, then drive to Lake Superior, then drive to Lake Huron, and get back home through Ottowa and Niagara Falls. So, my question is, what vacation would you choose?? And, trust me, I am NOT spoiled, this is my first vacation in 5 years. But, I am VERY VERY grateful. Answer: Plan 2 sounds awesome! |
