How do you feel about these illegals ordered by MS 13 to carry out contract killing were to be paid $ 40,000?
Question:
MS-13 gang members face life in prison after murder-for-hire Two members of a notorious Central American gang face life in federal prison in a murder-for-hire scheme cooked up over bad blood in Honduras that ended in gunfire in South Carolina, a prosecutor said Friday. Josue Benitez, 22, and Martin Teran, 36, were convicted Thursday after a three-week trial of a hit on Jorge Ramos, U.S. prosecutor Jay Richardson said. Ramos was gunned down while he worked on his car in 2008 in West Columbia. The MS-13 gang members drove from Houston to South Carolina to carry out the contract killing, Richardson said. Jurors also convicted the two of returning to the U.S. after being deported - in Teran's case six times - and being illegal immigrants carrying firearms, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. Teran, of Guatemala, also was convicted of witness tampering and obstruction of justice. A third defendant, Juan Carrillo, remains a fugitive, Richardson said. The trio was to be paid $40,000 to kill Ramos, an auto mechanic. They are the latest members of the El Salvador-based gang to be convicted in the Carolinas. Six MS-13 members were found guilty last year in Charlotte of crimes ranging from murder to extortion. Should I bother applying to Columbia?
Question:
My SAT scores were: 720 Writing 680 Reading 630 Math However, I only studied for the former two, so I'm retaking it again after vigorously studying math also, so I'm expecting a higher score on that one. I've taken 3 AP classes so far, and I'm a junior. (AP classes weren't offered at the school I was in freshman and sophomore year, because I was in a backwoods WV school, although I did take every honors class I could) The AP classes I took this year were: AP US History AP English Language and Composition (I had this class for the latter half of the year, honors wasn't challenging enough and I was going to take the AP test anyways, so I moved up.) AP Psychology (self studied) My GPA was 3.65 (3.875 weighted) at my old school, but it's been 4.0 (4.6 weighted) ever since I got to my new school. Senior year I'll be taking: AP Calculus AB (BC isn't offered) AP US Government and Politics AP Biology (even though I already have biology) AP Statistics AP English Literature Honors Physics (taking AP Physics B exam at the end of the year) I started and was the President of the Debate Club at my old school, and I'll be starting a Model UN at my new school, because it's relatively new. I also started and hosted a blood drive with my girlfriend at the school, sponsored by FBLA. And we started a Relay for Life team, and help with the March for Dimes (also with FBLA). I'll be submitting a supplemental application for music to the colleges I apply to of me playing the first movement of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto (without orchestra). I'll be applying to: MIT (reach school) University of Chicago University of California-Berkeley University of Pennsylvania Washington University in St. Louis Carnegie Mellon Rice University West Virginia University (safety school, close to home) I know I need to raise my math score significantly. This first time I took it I didn't know any of the strategies involved and hadn't studied at all, but now I'm using Princeton Review and Perfect800 to study for that. With diagnostic tests I've taken at my school, the AP teachers told me I could expect a 5 on the History and at least 4's on the Psychology and English this year. After all of this background, my question is: Should I even bother applying to Columbia or any other Ivies? I won't be applying early decision, because I'm going to apply early action to at least MIT and UChicago. If you could suggest any other colleges too, that'd be helpful. I'm really wanting an urban setting, too, mainly so I don't have to pay insurance on a car. I'm going to relying quite a bit on financial aid, which may rule out Berkeley. I really want to major in physics or mathematics, and am willing to minor in music for scholarship money. Thanks a lot, people of Yahoo Answers. You've solved my conundrums quite a few times, hopefully you can help this time too. If I can remember anything else, I'll put it in the Additional Details.

Have you ever read the Smokey the Bear Sutra?
Question:
this sutra "may be reproduced free forever." Once in the Jurassic, about 150 million years ago, the Great Sun Buddha in this corner of the infinite Void gave a great Discourse to all the assembled elements and energies: to the standing beings, the alking beings, the flying beings, and the sitting beings --even grasses, to the number of thirteen billion, each one born from a seed, assembled there: a Discourse concerning Enlightenment on the planet Earth. "In some future time, there will be a continent called America. It will have great centers of power called such as Pyramid Lake, Walden Pond, Mt. Rainier, Big Sur, Everglades, and so forth; and powerful nerves and channels such as Columbia River, Mississippi River, and Grand Canyon. The human race in that era will get into troubles all over its head, and practically wreck everything in spite of its own strong intelligentBuddha-nature." "The Twisting strata of the great mountains and the pulsings of great volcanoes are my love burning deep in the earth. My obstinate compassion is schist and basalt and granite, to be mountains, to bring down the rain. In that future American Era I shall enter a new form: to cure the world of loveless knowledge that seeks with blind hunger; and mindless rage eating food that will not fill it." And he showed himself in his true form of SMOKEY THE BEAR. A handsome smokey-colored brown bear standing on hishind legs, showing that he is aroused and watchful. Bearing in his right paw the Shovel that digs to thetruth beneath appearances; cuts the root of useless attachments, and flings damp sand on the fires of greed and war; His left paw in the Mudra of Comradely Display -- indicating thatall creatures have the full right to live to their limits and that deer, rabbits, chipmunks, snakes, dandelions, and lizard all grow in the realm of the Dharma; Wearing the blue work overalls symbolic of slaves andlaborers, the countless men oppressed by a civilization that claims to save but only destroys; Wearing the broad-brimmed hat of the West, symbolic ofthe forces that guard the Wildereness, which is the Natural State of the Dharma and the True Path of man on earth; all true paths lead through mountains -- With a halo of smoke and flame behind, the forest firesof the kali-yuga, fires caused by the stupidity of those who think things can ge gained and lost whereas in truth all is contained vast andfree in the Blue Sky and Green Earth of One Mind; Round-bellied to show his kind nature and that the greatearth has food enough for everyone who loves her and trusts her; Trampling underfoot wasteful freeways and needlesssuburbs; smashing the worms of capitalism and totalitarianism; Indicating the Task: his followers, becoming free of cars, houses, canned food, universities, and shoes, master the Three Mysteries of their own Body, Speech, and Mind; and fearlessly chop down the rotten trees and prune out the sick limbs of this country America and then burn the leftover trash. Wrathful but Calm, Austere but Comic, Smokey the Bear will Illuminate those who would help him; but for those who would hinder or slander him, HE WILL PUT THEM OUT. Thus his great Mantra: Namah samanta vajranam chanda maharoshana Sphataya hum traka ham mam "I DEDICATE MYSELF TO THE UNIVERSAL DIAMOND BE THIS RAGING FURY DESTROYED" And he will protect those who love woods and rivers, Gods and animals, hobos and madmen, prisoners and sick people, musicians, playful women, and hopeful children; And if anyone is threatened by advertising, air pollution, or the police, they should chant SMOKEY THE BEAR'S WAR SPELL: DROWN THEIR BUTTS CRUSH THEIR BUTTS DROWN THEIR BUTTS CRUSH THEIR BUTTS And SMOKEY THE BEAR will surely appear to put the enemy out with his vajra-shovel. Now those who recite this Sutra and then try to put it in practice will accumulate merit as countless as the sands of Arizona and Nevada,Will help save the planet Earth from total oil slick, Will enter the age of harmony of man and nature, Will win the tender love and caresses of men, women, and beastsWill always have ripe blackberries to eat and a sunny spot under a pine tree to sit at, AND IN THE END WILL WIN HIGHEST PERFECT ENLIGHTENMENT. thus have we heard. P.S. I didn't write this, so I can't provide an explanation of the "crush their butts" part. The anonymous writer(s?) did, however, explicitly give permission for the Sutra to be posted anywhere and everywhere.

Now, I enjoyed that very much! Thanks for sharing! The Native American Indians, have passed this on within their oral tradition from teacher to apprentice for thousands of years: "Watch for the ant-man for he shall set things straight!" "There shall be a great tree that shall fall from the east to the west, be ever aware, and listen for the sound of the tree when it strikes the soil of the earthly mother where we presently dwell." "We the Red-man are the custodians of what the White-man calls the North American Continent. We respect her as no one else will, for we first tilled her soil and partook of her fruits, which she gave to us freely!" May we all be ever Aware,

Women/Ladies: Who would you rather date?
Question:
Guy A: He is what you can call "Mr. Perfect." In school, he was captain of every sport he joined. He's perfect at every sport. He was the toughest, strongest, fastest athlete, gorgeous. His popularity is INCREDIBLE, everyone knew him: the school, the neighborhood, the entire country. His body is PERFECT: flawless skin, whatever skin tone and muscular frame you desire. Height and private length is up to your standards, if not even higher. He is a genius, finished #1 in his grade, and graduated 2 years early. None of his grades were below A+. SAT and SAT 2/ACT were PERFECT SCORES. Got into West Point, every college he applied to accepted him. If you were struggling with homework, or even job work - with his intellect, he'll do your work FOR YOU, making your educational or job life a breeze, you won't have to lift a finger. He's funny, and no matter what mood you're in, he'll make you laugh and feel good about yourself. He has good confidence too. Incredibly popular with everyone he meets, he can make friends with ANYONE fast. He makes you the ENVY of your friends and family, EVERYONE wants him and is jealous of you. He has fame and fortune, drives only the finest cars ever made. He has seven mansions worth millions each. His bank account has millions in there too. With him, your life will be too easy - every second of your life will be free time, no such thing as work exists (unless you want to work anyways). Bored? Just board his private yacht or private jet and cruise/fly to anywhere you want anytime. The finest chefs cook your food, and whatever. However... he's not the most honest person you know. Couple of times you saw him with other girls, come on, he is the envy of the neighborhood. He did cheat through high school/college though. He lacks life skills, like cooking and cleaning. His confidence makes him the boss: if you have a play you want to go to, he'll go bowling with his friends - if he doesn't want to see the play, he doesn't have to. He may be nice in front of you, but he was a bully and does sometimes put other guys to shame. He can start fights real easily (but will win). He's not that sympathetic towards you, or your friends. He lives to have fun. He doesn't have time to visit you or your mom in the hospital, he's got a big golf tournament. He likes to spend his time doing his what he wants, after all he is a boss. or Guy B: He isn't the smartest, but he tries his hardest and does it the right way, no matter how tough or irritating the work is: finished with A's, couple A+'s, and B's here and there. He's not the most fit either. He's a normal, maybe a little above average, build. His skin tone, height, private length (his entire physique) isn't up to your standards. He finished #7 in school, and attended 4 years in high school and college. He did play varsity, but wasn't captain. He made it into Columbia University, his SAT's were around 2000, ACT a 32 out of 36. If you needed help with homework, he'll help you and won't give up on you. Because he believes in honesty and hard work, he won't do your work for you, but he'll still help. Occasionally he might do work for you, like in case you collapse from exhaustion. He's not the funniest person ever, honestly, his jokes sometimes just plain SUCK. They're jokes where your reply will be "What the @#$%?" But at least he tried to make you feel better earnestly. He does have some friends. He's not very confident, rather, he is quite humble. When people see you with Guy B, they'll think "meh, he ain't special." But you have a GREAT time with him anywhere you go. When he visited your parents, they enjoyed his company, they thought he was very polite. He's not uber rich: first he lived in an apartment, and gradually moved into a nice small home, which he refurbished very, very well. He doesn't make a 9 figure salary like Guy A, but he makes enough to get by and have some luxuries, like taking you out to dinner and stuff. He has good life skills: he can cook, clean, etc. He's great with kids, so if you marry him, you'll have a perfect happy family for the rest of your life, so perfect divorce doesn't even come into your head once. If you're sick or tired, he'll do the work for you - tired of vacuuming? Ask him. Tired of cooking? Ask him. He'll do it, without question. He doesn't pick on anyone, because he knows and understands the pain of ostracism and hate, so he does his best always to treat everyone nicely and equally. He values your relationship very dearly, even when his boss offered him a once-in-a-lifetime 8 month one-man cruise tour around the world all expenses paid while you're in bed with cancer (with 8 months to live) - he chose to spend those 8 months with you, his one and only. You're amongst his top priorities. ------------ Columbia's a good school, but seeing that many of the students of the school I attend make into there (they're not the brightest people, quite cheaters), I sort of discount the "prestige" of Columbia a bit. From my observations in my local district and in pretty much every place I went to - women dig the macho man who is "hard to get"/doesn't focus much on her.

Answer:
Any one would be absolutely STUPID!!!!! not to pick guy B!!!! Seriously why would anyone pick a shallow self centered macho man than a guy who is sweeter and more sensitive and would love you for who u r? Isnt that really just wat every girl wants?

Moving to Boston/Quincy area in fall?
Question:
Hey, I'm going to be transferring as a sophomore to UMass Boston in the fall and I will be living with a friend starting grad school there. We both live about 30 miles west of the city currently, but want to move closer to school (located on Columbia Point in Dorchester). When is the best time to look? I keep finding that most apartments are available now, but we'd be looking for an August/September move in date. Where are the best neighborhoods to look into? We're hoping to spend no more than $1400/month on rent and aren't too picky so long as we aren't living in a total dump. Also, access to the T is very important since there is only one car between the two of us. I used to live over in Columbia Point when I was younger, so I know there are some pretty bad areas, but it's been awhile since I've lived in the city and it's my first time renting so I need some help!!

Answer:
Have you checked with UMass to see if they have any graduate student housing/apartments. Although given your different ages I can see where that might be a problem. Couldn't hurt to ask though, as the campus has what I consider the single most important feature to living in that area....security. I agree it has greatly improved...but that said it still is not the best, especially at night. If you consider livign in Dorcester I would see if there is anything on campus in a secure building, or look for a building that has solid security. I wish I knew the name of it, but they turned the old Baker chocolate factory into apartments and they are very lovely. And there's a charming little block of stores. A friend of mine lived there a few years, and it was by far the nicest part of Dorcester I have ever been in. And that complex had security for the parking lot, buildings, locked doors etc. And since it was a total remodel each apt was unique and the ones I saw were all very attractive with exposed brick. This was a few years ago but the pricing was suprisingly reasonble then. Ok tracked it down....it's in your price range; http://www.apartmentcities.com/Massachusetts/d/baker_choc olate_factory_apartments_MA.asp That's not the official site but give all the info. And now I know the name of that area lol...Lower Mills! The only downside I remember was her saying the soundproofing wasn't great, but doubt it's worse than a dorm lol. And there is an awesome homemade ice cream place and one of the prettiest and cheapest restaurants in that block of stores across the street. Beyond that, I agree Quincy is the next best alternative for location etc. Hope you find a great place!
