Answer:
Not all of these are actual riots, like the Los Angeles riot (that was a REAL riot.) Some of these are mis-named either because of press hype or because of racism on the part of local officials. Most of these are blown way out of proportion by calling them a "riot". For example, I lived near Plainfield, NJ in 1968 and there was a disturbance there, but I wouldn't call it a riot. And you'll notice that there are many incidents that are not called a riot, but also involve mass mob violence in which WHITE people attacked black people. A good example is the town of Rosewood in Florida. In 1923 there was such a horrific event there that the entire black population was either murdered or forced to flee for their lives, and the town was wiped off the face of the map. There were many events like this from the end of the 19th century, right up through the civil rights era of the 1950s and even early 1960s. Why weren't they called "riots"? EDIT: I just noticed you included the Stonewall Riot. You really should look that up. It had nothing to do with race! Gay New Yorkers, tired of being beaten and abused by police, fought back in what is historically considered the beginning of the Gay rights movement. While I'm sure there were Black people there, most of the people fighting the police were White. Do you just think the word "riot" implies "Black people" is that how you accidentally included this one? That says a lot about where you're coming from.

How can my neighbors and i get rid of Wild Boars?
Question:
For about the past three weeks, some neighbors and I have been having trouble with rogue packs of wild boars coming into our yards at night, eating out of gardens, wallowing in the grass, clawing/tusking tress, defecating all over the place. They cause so much damage. My car had a tusk mark and a dent on the back bumper which thankfully i was able to buff out. One of my neighbors dogs was even attacked. Many of my neighbors and I do own guns, and as much as we would love to go outside at night with guns blazing. We can't. We live in a suburban neighborhood in Orangeburg South Carolina that sits adjacent to a massive swamp that is situated in a national park (Congaree National Park). The swamp itself is infested with alligators, cottonmouths, copperheads, rattlesnakes, all that other good stuff. So we cant go into the swamp to hunt them because it's a nature preserve and it's really dangerous. Many of us have fences, but they burrow under them. The city has hired trappers and pest controllers to kill/capture rogue boars. But it seems like nothing has been done. We worry because we are afraid that somebody might get attacked, especially children. The park rangers tell us that putting up an electric fence along the tree line will keep them away, but who in the H*** has the money for that let alone the electricity required, the rangers, land manager, and city aren't going to pay for it, screw that. The estimate for the fence alone is $72,000 for 560 yards not including the cost of the eletricity diverter and upkeep. So is there anything my neighbors and I can do in an attempt to at least keep them away? Even for a little bit? Its soooooo annoying because they make so much noise, you can hear them oinking, tearing up yards, fighting with each other, wallowing in the grass, causing neighborhood dogs to bark, etc. I work very hard, and coming home after a long night of work while trying to get some sleep with all that crap going really makes me lose it. The city has has allowed us to use lethal bow hunting and poisoning within the limits of our properties, but the use of firearms has been denied due to close proximity of residential housing. Bad news is, none of us are bow hunters. Edit: We have also applied for permission for supervised hunting within the Congaree National Park, but was turned down due to heavy tourism and camping. @ the people saying get our guns and shoot them. We are severely limited in options regarding guns due to local residential policy and the fact we live in a crowded suburb and the the boars are protected by the jurisdiction of the Congaree National Park when they are within its limits. We have been allowed the use of bows and poisoning within the limits of our properties. But our yards arent even big. If we kill an animal within the limits of the national park, it's a federal crime. And police have been monitoring us. They have strictly told us that hunting within the park without consent is punishable by a fine of up to $100,000 and a minimum of 5 years in prison.

Answer:
When the deer began to threaten the plants of the Indiana National Dunes and State Park the authorities authorized controlled archery hunts. After calculating the number of deer the parks could support a quota was set and and the hunt was on. Archers were selected by lottery. An awful lot of archers didn't make it through the gates. I'm sure your state has someone who could check out the impact of the pigs on the park. Before long you could get regulated boar hunts and plenty of archers to fill the quotas. In the meantime, why not open the subdivision to archers? NIght hunting could be assisted by enough illumination to allow clear shots. By regulating the archers, you could maintain order. You wouldn't end up with a free for all like in the movie "Jaws." Hunters pay to go on boar all over the South. I know a lot of Archers that go down your way to collect their trophies. You may even charge a fee once it catches on. Wild boar are delicious to eat. When I vacationed in the Southland, nobody is going to tell me the great cooks down in Dixie can't fix wild pigs to make some great eaten. Why they'd probably make a man throw his hat in the creek. When I was in Germany their cooks made me come back again and again for "Wild Boar. You could hold boar BBQ contests. You could make it an annual event. We made Popcorn a big deal in every year in Valpo. When the pigs find your lawns and gardens aren't safe, they'll move to a new subdivision. I can almost taste the little piglets turned to a "T" over a spit. Don't dispare over what is happening. Face it head on. Look at some options you have and make the most of them. How much does a couple of hundred pounds of pork cost in your area. When I grew up hunting in Mn, I always cleaned the fish or game I collected and offered it to the farmer on whose land or lake I used. I never had to search for a place to fish or hunt, You'd never need to buy pork again. How do you think they lower the number of Moose, bear, Elk, Wolves etc in the other National parks. If the people that live near the other ones can find a way, so can you.
