How should I handle a 'Careless Operation' citation?

I was in a fender bender. Without even examing the skidmarks layed down by the other car, the North Charleston (SC) police officer immediately held me at fault with the answer 'You were changing lanes, it's your responsibility.' She didn't bother to examine the skidmarks layed down by the other vehicle. She pretty much immediately put it on me. Do I A) Plead guilty and explain I simply did not see them until I was in the lane during change, despite having looked, and can that reduce, or is pleading guilty automatically accepting the fine. Or, B) Plead not guilty, explain the officer didn't bother to examine or measure the skidmarks layed down by the other vehicle, let alone even walk over to the actual impact spot (we pulled off the road.) I don't want to waste time going to court if I'm not likely to see it dropped/lowered from 250.00, but if I go, am I best served w/ guilty and explanation, or not guilty?

Any convenient places to live in Charleston SC?

I will be getting married in August. My Fiance is in the Air Force and he has been stationed at charleston afb in South Carolina. I would like to know of some good areas to relocate to in the charleston area. I was told that North charleston which is close to the base is a bad area. We don't have to live real close to the base we just want to live in a pretty safe area (even though crime is everywhere). I also want to know if they have public transportation there? My fiance has a car but I don't and his car is a stick shift so i wont be able to drive it anyway. So I would like to live in an area where the necessities are close by until we are able to buy a new car for me. The Downtown area seems nice but I keep seeing different things about it. So If any one that maybe lives in the charleston area or used to live there could tell me what that its like. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. -My Fiance just got orders to go to charleston he hasnt been there before either. -Base housing might not be an option because the waiting list is pretty long.

I live in Charleston and have for about 11 years so I'll give you some info. Some good areas in the Charleston area to relocate to are Summerville (about 10-15mins from the AFB), Goose Creek isn't bad but it's a little more run down (probably 15-20mins from the AFB), North Charleston has it's ups and downs there's good areas and theirs bad. A lot of people prefer to live in on the islands, near the beach, or downtown but the cost of living is generally higher in those places. Pretty much any area is going to have necessities close by unless you live way out in the country. They have a public transportation that runs along a lot of the main roads and I believe they do stop in front of the AFB, it's called CARTA. There's plenty of things to do and a lot of history in the Charleston area so you should enjoy it, a great place to live.

What is the best port to catch a cruise north of Ft. Lauderdale?

carnival has a ship that leaves from jacksonville now. i went in july and left my car there. it is a locked parking lot and everything was fine when i got back. it goes to key west and the bahamas. hope that helps.

I'm in Bluffton, S.C. I have a 1 ton truck with a three car trailer. For most people you will haul for you have to carry a $1,000,000 liability which for my truck and trailer is about $6000 a year. I'm doing all i can do to make a profit but I wouldn't make it with a one car trailer. Maybe you can haul for your friends and make a little money but it's not going to be great.

I am sick when I go back to Charleston and see what they've done to a formerly middle-class neighborhood.... It now looks like a movie set for a Mexican Drug Gang! Trash, Mexican colors, people carrying dirty children wearing only dirty diapers, beer bottles, dozens of cars in the driveways, clothes hanging over the front porch. Weeds growing waist high, strings of cloth hung at windows..... They have turned the beautiful towns I have grown up in to slums! This is not just a border state issue anymore. They have infiltrated our entire nation. The deportation MUST BEGIN!

In my state, Arizona, illegals are COSTING the taxpayers MILLIONS of dollars JUST to clean up their TRASH!!!! Arizona is the WORST state, for illegals crossing into the U.S.!!!! Where can I drop my 10 ' sailboat into the water in downtown Charleston, SC?

I am moving to Charleston, SC and trying to lie as close to downtown (south of Calhoun) as possible, but we will likely be a little north of Canon. I own a small 10' sailboat and I plan to keep it in a garage, driveway, or backyard unless I can find an affordable place to store it near a drop spot. My MAIN question is where can I drive my boat to take it out for a few hours and then park my car and trailer while I am sailing? My other questions are 1) Are the neighborhoods just north of Canon relatively safe? Ideally we will have a small yard for my boat. and 2) Is there an affordable storage place (like storage units) near a boat drop in the city? Thank you in advance for any and all advice.

I'd recommend that you contact one of the Yacht Clubs or marinas along Lockwood Blvd/ Drive. They might have a Dingy dock/ typically $400 a year. Where you pull the boat up on a floating dock. Then Storage, trailer and parking are all solved.......As for "relatively safe" yes, it's more than relatively safe, I'd say most of the city is (note: no qualifiers) safe.

How to I get my records to my new ward?(LDS probably know best)?

I moved a month ago from North Augusta to Charleston SC, and now that I have a car, I can finally start going back to church. Who do I need to talk to? Should I call my old bishop's sec and have him send them, or do I need to get the new one to ask for them? This new ward is so much bigger than my old one, I don't know who the bishop is, AND to make matters much more confusing, there's a young singles branch.(I'm a young single.) I don't know anything. Information overload. Maybe the young singles have a different leadership? I'm not sure, I've only been to sacrament once since I've been here...Help!

Answer:
I would suggest going to the singles branch, talk to the ward clerk (his info should be in the program every week). and get your records transferred there. Singles wards and branches always need "fresh" people, and they're usually a lot of fun. I'd still go to one as a married person if they let me :-)

Is there anyone who has a clean criminal record and has experienced harassment from local law enforcement?

But anyway I've never been in trouble in my life and yesterday afternoon my little brother was in the front yard (he is 12) (I am 24 and pay my own bills) at my mothers place and I stopped by to help my mother cut the grass and sort throu some boxs and she lives near a main 2 lane road that is very busy in the afternoon.My 12 year old brother found a Mardi-gra mask with feathers and decided to wear it being the young kid that wants to have fun he wore it out at the front yard and waived at people driving by and smiling. I watched him the whole time and no for a fact that he wasn't acting inappropriately or using obscene gestures of any kind and along came a city police officer in his cruiser and my brother waived at him and the officer seemed to not of scared less and drove pass and kept going but about 40 seconds later I watched this officer do a uturn and accelerate to at least 50 mph in 35mph school zone and turned into my mothers driveway and lock the breaks up . The cop jumped out of the car and walked right up to and asked me "what you problem?!" I was shocked and didn't know what was going on and I said Dunno and asked what I did. The officer gave me this kind of sly look of disgust asif my explanation didn't satisfy him and then he turned to my brother and asked him "what wrong with you?! I then asked the officer what we had done and he told me to be quiet and then he asked my brother what he thought he was doing . My brother was scared and I told my brother that he didn't do anything wrong and that it's ok and then the officer got almost in my face and told me if I didn't shut up I'd be arrested for disorderly conduct . He then proceeded to preach to my brother about how "harassing" people that are driving by can get you arrested. My brother was almost crying and it was quite shocking to me that this officer was so aggressive. The officer then asked me where his guardian was and I told him I'm 24 and then the officer demanded to talk to a parent so I went toward the house and when I stepped away he told me to stop and asked me "where do you think your going?" I then turned around and asked him "Didn't you want me to get his mother?" He then said go get her but he (my brother) stays here. So I went in and told my mother who was shocked about what I told her was happening so she came out and asked what was going on and the officer lied and told my mother that my little brother was "harassing" people driving by! My mother told the officer that she would make sure it didn't happen anymore and the officer eventually left but not without lecturing me on why I shouldn't let my brother "harass " people driving by. soon after this for the rest of the day the officer would ride by and stair at me. I am 24 and have a place of my own and drive my own car and I don't "hang out" on the streets and get in trouble and yet this officer acts like I'm some kind of petty criminal worth arresting. Hello Jay. I am sorry you and your kid brother went through a situation that was uncalled for and definitely unprofessional. From reading the scenario, I am willing to bet the cop did a fast look and thought he saw your kid brother flipping him off or making an obscene gesture. I am not saying at all that his reaction was appropriate, but if that was his impression, I can understand his taking a hard line stand. In this case, I would only suggest calling the Officer's department and lodging a formal complaint with the investigator there. They will sit down and discuss what occurred from both sides. If nothing else, the Officer will be reprimanded and will have a long discussion on public relations. Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you

Why is there a 6month license suspension in South Carolina for Pot possession?

Some one I know at work got busted for having a 5 dollar bag of weed in his pocket. The police said they had a right to search him because he was at an apartment complex sidewalk that was only for residents. My friend lives at this apartment complex and he invited him as a guest I can't see why the police would harrass him since he's not a trouble maker and he was just walking on a sidewalk to his buddie's apartment. Anyways he said his licence got suspended for the weed possession. This happened in North Charleston,sc in a area not particularly know for high crime rate. Why would the suspend a driver license when he wasn't even in a car? and he wasn't under the influence of pot any other drug. He now has to pay someone to go to work all because he was minding his own busness while having some grass in his pocket. Please keep the anti pot comments to your self I know some of yall think pot is a horrible thing. According to South carolina state law there is a mandatory 6 month suspension of driving privleges for possession of a controlled substance such as weed. It is maditory and you can't get out of it unless you can prove your innocent of the crime. I seen on South Carolina's website. They also place atleast 9 points on your driving record so even after you serve the 6 month suspension you are still stuck with the points on your record for a long time since south carolina only take of 3 points per year.He is a driver at work and now he'll probely lose his job because the company doesn't allow people to drive with a bad driving record. I think it's wrong because he had a clean driving record prior to this incident and he is a good driver. He's only had 1 ticket in his life for speeding. I think all the lawmakers drivers licence should be suspended for passing unreasonable laws.

How good is this as a first chapter as my story?

Keep in mind I know the spelling so I dont care about that. And that I am only 12. My feet slapped against the hard wood flooring. It was freezing here, I hated the cold. The waves slapped hard against the side of the house, high tide. I walked against the floor, it was feeling like ice, every second. I looked out the window, rain pelted against it making a rattaling noise. The sun was just starting to rise right behind the oceon. Turning the sky a light, pale pink with white swirls mixing in. I lived in Westport Washington, at Pacific northwest beach. I had just moved here to my only source of sanity I had left. My best friend Calista. She hated her name, so we had made nicknames for eachother. I called her Cali, and she called me Avia. My name was Octavia felicity essence crade. Possibly the most uncommon name out there. I had recently moved here about a day ago from Charleston North Carolina. I was still 17 at the momment. I moved because I had, had enogh of my mom. My dad had died when I was seven I barley remeber it now, but I knew that nobody would tell me anything, and tried to keep me away from the suspicions. My sister Lauren had died along with my dad supposebly in a fire. She was younger then me about five years of age. After they died things had gotten bad. We moved away from Westport, and moved to Charleston. The only thing I liked was that it never had as much rain as Westport. My mom just got crazier each day. She had been put into rehab after taking drugs, but she never stopped. I did not want to live there any more, I had, had enogh. So I ran away, back here with Cali, because she is all I have left.
