Things to do in Charleston South Carolina?
Question:
At the end of March I'm going on a trip to Charleston with 6 adults and one 13 yr old. Includes me. I'm a huge history buff, and we are staying 1 block away from the beach in a 4 bed/4 bath house. All of us enjoy biking as primary form of transportation, but we will have a car. We'll be staying on the Isle of Palms. How crowded will it be in March? Will the water be fairly warm? What are some things we should do? Any other tips?

Answer:
March is a great time to come. This year you will be getting here before Easter break so it won't be as crowded, but because the weather is warming up, there will still be tourists starting their journey down here. The water usually isn't that warm in March, but we've had such a warm winter, you may be in luck this year. If you're coming from the north you'll think it's warm. Start looking at this site for things to do, should help: http://www.things-to-do-in-charleston.com/ Enjoy and have fun!

Any advice on relocating to Charleston, South Carolina?
Question:
Im expecting to move to charleston, south carolina by the end of this year and I am doing my reserch on the state, but its always something different about it... Anybody that lives there now or has visited please give me sum advice on it, but anyway how is the cost of living there, and is there public transportation(buses) to get u where u needs to go because I dont have a car? Thanx

Answer:
Charleston is a beautiful city! There is always something fun going on - within the next 2 months Charleston will host everything from the Southeastern Wildlife Exp, to the Food + Wine Festival, to our own Fashion Week! Public Transportation is not the best here... our local bus system is called CARTA. I would check them out on the web & look at routes before deciding where to live. Check out sites like www.relocatecharleston.com and the chamber of commerce's website as well. Hope that helps!

Fun stuff to do - Charleston South Carolina?
Question:
At the end of March I'm going on a trip to Charleston with 6 adults and one 13 yr old. Includes me. I'm a huge history buff, and we are staying 1 block away from the beach in a 4 bed/4 bath house. Answer:
Well here you go Dani. I lived on the Isle of Palms (IOP) myself at one time. Late march is a great time to visit Charleston. The IOP will be kind of quiet in March; it's still way into the off season, but that doesn't mean it won't be nice. I have surfed the IOP in March and the water is still pretty cold. Not bad for wading in the surf and shelling. Ride over to Sullivan's Island and Check out historic Fort Moultrie. You can see Fort Sumter from there and also watch the large oceangoing ships entering the harbor. You can catch a tour boat to Fort Sumter from the foot of Calhoun Street in Charleston. You can go on board the aircraft carrier Yorktown and other warships in Mount Pleasant at Patriot's Point. While you're there you can walk or bike across the big cable stay bridge (the Ravenel Bridge) into Charleston. In the city of Charleston you can see the Aquarium which is ok if you haven't seen a big aquarium. If you have, I would skip it unless you have extra time and money. :) It's next to the boat to Fort Sumter. Go downtown to Broad Street and tour the Old Exchange Building. It takes you back to colonial times. You can actually see a portion of the original wall. Charleston was the only English walled city in America. From the Exchange building you can spend the day on a guided or self guided walking tour of the historic district. Take a carriage ride! Walk down to the Battery and walk through Whitepoint Park. While your downtown, and probably first, visit the Visitor's Center near Marion Square. Check out the DASH bus! If you like to bike go out to the James Island County Park. They have loads of hiking trails. Ride over to John's Island and see the ancient Angel Oak. Find out where it is at the visitor's center. For a truly unique dining experience try Bowen's Island Restaurant. They are famous for their oyster roasts. I guarantee it will be an unforgettable experience. While you're out at Bowens you might as well go on out to Folly Beach and walk out on the 1200 foot ocean fishing pier for free. Folly has a nice Center Street. Some of the shops may be open in march. Can't think of anything else unless you want to see the Confederate submarine Hunley. It's on exhibit in North Charleston. Have a good trip.

Why do police in Goose creek and Charleston,South carolina harrass the people who report crime?
Question:
I recently almost got mugged by some low lige thugs who wanted my beach cruiser bike that was brandnew. I didn't know them any of them and I got away. I saw a officer on the highway and went to hime out of breath saying I was being chased by people with bats and weapons. He looked at me like I had ticked him off and told me to weight in front of the drivers car. 4 10minutes I weighted and then he aproached me and asked why I was here and where do I live. Itold him I live accross the street and I was justriding a bike for excercise. He asked for my ID and ran a background check for10minutes. I felt like I was the criminal by the time it was over. 25 minutes later mosquitoes bitten me up I'm finally asked the description of the guys.he puts it out on the radio and asks me to show where they were at! by then I gave up I just told them I need to go home it's late and then he told me to do a sobriety test and I did it and pased because I was sober. why do cops treat me like that? IN REPLY TO wattrlz I was wearing a dickies plad shirt with a fresh white tshirt with blue jean carpenter shorts and sandles with a white nike hat. I don't look like a bum thou I am known to be lazy lol

Answer:
I'm inclined to think just by the typing skills seen in this question that you are just as poor a verbal communicator. That is the problem with my assumption, but bear with me. If you can not relay your problem to the local law-enforcement officer, he will think that there is something wrong with you, and make you stand around and submit to all of his tests and whatnot. Remember, take a deep breath and always, always, think before you speak. Hope this helps!

Disabled and looking for donated car in South Carolina?
Question:
I'm searching for program or foundation that serves the Charleston, SC area that helps disabled people obtain a car. I know several other states and cities have these foundations, but is there one that serves the Charleston area? Or how else could a disabled person go about seeking help in obtaining a vehicle that does not make enough annually to qualify for a loan or save enough to buy a car? I am working, but I work from home, because I am homebound, so I do not currently require a vehicle to get to work so vocational rehab can not help.

Answer:
if you are working--contact vocational rehab for for help--i don't think they really pay for a car outright--but may be able to offer some help

I want to protest a business legally. How do I do that?
Question:
This business is located in Charleston South Carolina and they did not fix my car properly or give me any documentation to date. I am handling this matter in other ways, however I would like to picket to hurt their business as well.

Answer:
You do not need a lawyer. However, you do need to contact city hall. There are usually specific rules regarding protests in each community. Some cities also require a permit.
