How much to ship a car?
Question:
I want to have a car shipped from Seatle, Washington to Pennsylvania. Does anyone know of a reliable shipping company and have an idea on what it would cost? Have any of you ever shipped a car before? Can it be shipped by train also or truck? Thanks.

Answer:
I have had some of my customers ship their vehicles by transport insured companies. The company that some them have used is called DAS shipping and so far there have been no issues and they will range from $1200.00 to $2500.00 dollars.... As for shipping by train I would say that it can be done but I would have no idea as to what the price would be plus if you go by train make sure that they are insured as well.

Any problems with driving a Nissan Skyline in Southwestern Pennsylvania?
Question:
My favorite car has always been the Skyline, ever since I started becoming interested in cars and what I wanted to drive. When I was 10 I saw one in Pittsburgh and have been dreaming of one since (before all the fast and furious hype). I'm getting to the age where buying one is finally becoming an option. I live in Southwestern Pennsylvania (Washington County) and have been trying to figure out exactly what technical issues I'd have to fix before I could drive one. From what I can see everything stock on the Skyline I want ('02 R34 V-Spec II) is street legal but the driver's license issue is driving me crazy. From talking to local police, there's nothing I have to worry about if it's street legal. I called a local state station and the woman who answered didn't identify herself as an officer but told me I would have to get a postal worker's license (because the Skyline and a postal worker's van are both right sided) paying $200 to do so... Sounded kind of ridiculous to me that I'd have to be certified to drive a postal van to drive my car and that price was horrible, so I asked my stepfather (a police lieutenant) about it. He told me he wasn't sure but he doesn't see me having to get a special license as long as the car's street legal. Long story-short, does anyone know if I need to do anything besides make sure the car is street legal to drive an R34 V-Spec II Nissan Skyline in Washington County, Pennsylvania? If anyone who reads this lives in the area and has an answer or even if they don't and have some advice or want to correct anything I've said please do so. Much appeciated. Also, I just figured there wouldn't be a problem driving it anywhere else in the US as long as it was registered here. If anyone knows this is wrong or knows of places where I plain couldn't drive the car, let me know. Thanks again.

Answer:
Owning a Skyline in the US seems to have its own rules state to state you didi the best thing which was to ask before you buy,it would be difficult for me to answer exact as said each state requires you to do different mods to make it street legal, normally any thing other than the R33 spec is illegal due to the only crash data that was true from Motorex.and only cars before the change to R33 only where allowed. I also i read driving state to state would be a problem due to different rules in each state and some even not allowing imports on the roads, Mods wise emissions is a must, headlights another all the rest are for the state. http://www.skylineowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=776 06&highlight=california thread has US owners so it maybe worth mailing them. http://rbmotoring.com/gallery/album141 these folks have the Skyline in and ma help with what mods, worth a mail. http://www.fast4wheels.com/jdm.php these cars do have US reg Skylines in and have a v spec in atm. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=1 05699 Good luck with the car, there great cars.

Is there a law against clutter?
Question:
I live in washington county, Pennsylvania and I have a neighbor who constantly is putting more and more knick knacks and in my opinion clutter on her property. Now this clutter is slowly drifting to my side of the property. We have a small divide between our cars and she hung baskets full of fake flowers that I now hit my head on getting in and out of my car. The clutter and mess is driving me nuts. She has decore outside for every holiday up at once. How could I find out if there is a law against clutter or does anyone know of a law clutter. She has started to block the sidewalk with her lawn furniture and it is becoming a mess and even starting to make my home look unattractive. Is there also any way to deal with this without making a huge fuss with the police? As a home ower I never thought I would run into something like this.

Answer:
First, I will address one specific issue you mention: in my neighborhood, the sidewalk is considered public access (at least the sidewalk that parallels the street) and must be kept clear at all times. I know, because the sidewalk is the first thing I clear of ice and snow so as not to get a fine, and I did get "in trouble" one summer when the "heads" of the flowers from my small garden drooped over the sidewalk! Even that was considered off-limits; who knew! I am torn re how you would address this to her; it really made me feel "creepy" to know that someone reported me anonymously for drooping flower heads!! I wonder if you could find out the law (re sidewalk for example), and then ask her if there is anyway you can help her reposition/move the flower baskets so they don't physically hit you, and also explain about the public access of the sidewalk, and can you brainstorm with her about where else to put her lawn furniture. My thought was that if you approach this with a "how can I help you" attitude it might work better, and also nonjudgemental, because as you said "in your opinion", and she may indeed perceive this as beautiful...beauty being in the eye of the beholder. Maybe you could offer to do something for her in exchange for her accomodating you, or ask her if there is anything about your property that SHE is concerned about. Finally, be aware that there is something called "hoarding disorder", usually having more to do with the inside of a home, but sometime the outside, and if this is part of the problem, you face a much more difficult scenario. Check out the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation's website for more information on this, or clutter coach Beth Johnson's website. Both have been helpful to me in this regard.

Washington D.C race riot 1919?
Question:
Nobody knows precisely how or where it started, but on a steamy Saturday night, July 19, 1919, the word began to spread among the saloons and pool halls of downtown Washington, where crowds of soldiers, sailors and Marines freshly home from the Great War were taking weekend liberty. A black suspect, questioned in an attempted sexual assault on a white woman, had been released by the Metropolitan Police. The woman was the wife of a Navy man. So the booze-fueled mutterings about revenge flowed quickly among hundreds of men in uniform, white men who were having trouble finding jobs in a crowded, sweltering capital. Late that night, they started to move. The mob drew strength from a seedy neighborhood off Pennsylvania Avenue NW called "Murder Bay," known for its brawlers and brothels. The crowd crossed the tree-covered Mall heading toward a predominantly poor black section of Southwest. They picked up clubs, lead pipes and pieces of lumber as they went. Near Ninth and D streets SW, they fell upon an unsuspecting black man named Charles Linton Ralls, who was out with his wife, Mary. Ralls was chased down and beaten severely. The mob then attacked a second black man, George Montgomery, 55, who was returning home with groceries. They fractured his skull with a brick. The rampage by about 400 whites initially drew only scattered resistance in the black community, and the police were nowhere to be seen. When the Metropolitan Police Department finally arrived in force, its white officers arrested more blacks than whites, sending a clear signal about their sympathies. "A mob of sailors and soldiers jumped on the [street]car and pulled me off, beating me unmercifully from head to foot, leaving me in such a condition that I could hardly crawl back home," Francis Thomas, a frail black 17-year-old, said in a statement to the NAACP. Thomas said he saw three other blacks being beaten, including two women. "Before I became unconscious, I could hear them pleading with the Lord to keep them from being killed." Violence escalated on the second night, Sunday, July 20, when white mobs sensed the 700-member police department was unwilling or unable to stop them. Blacks were beaten in front of the White House, at the giant Center Market on Seventh Street NW, and throughout the city, where roving bands of whites pulled them off streetcars. The city's chief executive, Louis Brownlow, the chairman of the District Commissioners, issued an urgent appeal: "The actions of the men who attacked innocent Negroes cannot be too strongly condemned, and it is the duty of every citizen to express his support of law and order by refraining from any inciting conversation or the repetition of inciting rumor and tales." By Sunday night, black Washington had had enough. Veteran sharpshooters cleaned their rifles before scaling walls to the roof of Howard Theatre. U Street NW was their Rubicon and they defended it against white invasion. The Washington Post reported:"In the negro district along U Street from Seventh to Fourteenth streets, the negroes began early in the evening to take vengeance for the assaults on their race in the downtown district the night before." After securing their neighborhoods, some black men went on the offensive, pulling unsuspecting white riders from streetcars and beating them to pleading ruins. Ten white and five black residents would die that night. An African American teenaged girl shot and killed a police officer. Black and white men fired at each other from moving cars. The nation's capital was at war with itself.

Answer:
Then the Army and National Guard was called in and Washington was quietened down. The focus moved to Chicago.

How do I re-register my car from Virginia to Pennsylvania and get a new license?

I need to get both registered in PA, it is just easier cause I will be moving back there sometime, but I don't live at either address that is listed on the license or registration.
