Is there any defense to red light tickets in Oregon?
Question:
I just received a RED LIGHT ticket in tualatin oregon for turning right at a intersection without stopping. I have viewed the video (it's 13 seconds long) I did not stop in the video. The video shows a car moving fast behind me ( I think that at the time I thought I might get hit). I do not remember the incident as it happened weeks ago. The question is " Is there any successful defenses that anyone can think of for oregon that I might use?" Note: I have gone online but most of the sites don't give the information I need (statute numbers, defenses that actually work, or strategies to cost the court more than the 300$ that there charging for the ticket). That's right I feel that the more time and energy that they expend on this exorbitant ticket the better.

Answer:
There are really only 3 defenses that could work: 1. The vehicle was stolen at the time (and you had better have a police report to prove it) 2. You were getting out of the way of an emergency vehicle that had it's lights and sirens going. (If you use this, they will check to see if emergency vehicles were dispatched there at the time. If you lied, the court could charge you with perjury or other similar offense.) 3. You were dieing at the time (and you had better have a hospital bill to prove it) Other than that, there is no valid defense. Someone coming up behind you is not a defense. You don't get to run red lights and put other traffic/pedestrians at risk because you think there was a car behind you that might or might not get stopped. (And you can rest assured that the car behind you got a ticket also!) I can't tell you how many videos I've validated where a string of 4,5 or 6 cars just runs right through the light in succession. We just sat there and went cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching. As for your $300+ strategies... all of those strategies will cost you way more than $300 and there's a 90%+ chance you'll still have to pay for the ticket.

what is a good defense to red light tickets in Oregon?
Question:
I just received a RED LIGHT ticket in tualatin oregon for turning right at a intersection without stopping. I have viewed the video (it's 13 seconds long) I did not stop in the video although there was no one in cross walk and street was clear for right turn. The video shows a car moving fast behind me ( I think that at the time I thought I might get hit) { is it valid reasoning to avoid collision by running light}. I do not remember the incident as it happened weeks ago and i have only just seen the video. The question is " Is there any successful defenses that anyone can think of for oregon that I might use?" Note: I have gone online but most of the sites don't give the information I need (statute numbers, defenses that actually work, or strategies and tactics to cost the court more than the 300$ that there charging for the ticket). That's right I feel that the more time and energy that they expend on this exorbitant ticket the better. Please help me brain storm my defense.

Answer:
you are suppose to stop before the crosswalk before proceeding to turn right. you openly admit " i did not stop in the video" it doesnt matter if there were no one in the crosswalk, you still have to stop. and no, the "thought" of getting hit from behind is not a good reason. you dont know what the car behind you would have or could have done. it is possible they could have stopped. its NOT a proper defense. no, there is no successful defense to this, there is proof that you committed the moving violation and you openly admit it here.
