My water pump broke 10 miles north of the Medford, Oregon rent-a-car facility in 1987?
Question:
The rental store called the tow truck who happened to be passing my location. The car was a K-Car. The total tow was 10 miles, and the rental shop got a steep discount as a business from whom the tow man received much commerce. Here's the real question: In 1987, how much would such a tow have cost me--i.e. what would the non-discounted price have been? Weird question? Answer 1 was a weird answer! Please don't presume you know the motive of the asker. In this case, you have a fiction writer trying to get something (remotely) right. Thanks!

Answer:
Back then (in Wisconsin) I helped out part time at my fathers service station. We used to charge between $25.00 and $30.00 for this easy of a call, however back then you did not need to use a wrecker for most services (as cars had REAL bumpers). When it was necessary for us to use a wrecker, probably $50.00 as it was more trouble. Hope this helps.

A riddle: I broke down 10 miles north of the Medford, Oregon rent-a-car facility in 1987?
Question:
The rental store called the tow truck who happened to be passing by my location. The car was a K-Car. The total tow was 10 miles, and the rental shop got a discount as a business from whom the tow man received much commerce. Here's the real question: In 1987, how much would such a tow have cost me--i.e. what would the non-discounted price be? Know, know! Just how much would the cost be? (An arm and a toe was a good answer though!)

Answer:
I would guess you were in the rental car and the rental company had to pay if they got the discount...so you had to pay nothing

If I fly into Medford, Oregon, what is the easiet/cheapest way to get down to Ashland (no car renting)?
Question:
Details please.

Answer:
You have three legit options if you don't have a car and one free, albeit sneaky way. Take an RVTD bus (less than $5). Take an airport shuttle ($10-$18) -- Cascade Airport Shuttle of Ashland offers door-to-door service for all flights. One-way fares are between $10 and $18, depending on number of people in your party. Advance reservations are required: (541) 488-1998 or cascadeshuttle@ashland97520.com. Take a taxi ($20) -- Valley Cab (541) 772-1818 - Ashland/Medford Area; Yellow Cab (541) 772-6288 - Ashland/Medford Area; Metro Taxi (541) 773-6665 - Medford (Available to Ashland) Prefer free and sneaky? Hop a ride with a hotel shuttle. There's several hotels (and the University) in Ashland that run shuttles up to the Medford airport. Look around the terminal and you might find a shuttle with an extra seat. Just tell them you are looking for a place to stay in Ashland and they'll give you a ride.

Which of these is a better San Francisco Day Trip?
Question:
If you had 1 day in San Francisco with a free rental car and you've already been all over San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Palo Alto, and Napa and Sonoma, but nowhere else. Which of these would you more likely do? 1) Drive North on 101 and hike the Redwood Forests, drive Avenue of the Giants, visit Arcata, possibly make it up to Medford, Oregon. OR 2) Drive down to Santa Cruz, Cruise Pacific Highway down to Carmel and Monterey and Big Sur? Which is better?

Answer:
Both are great trips. Pick one and save the other for a later trip. Pt. Reyes National Seashore north of San Francisco is a beautiful place to explore if you head that way. http://www.california-birding.com/pointreyes.html If you enjoy wine, you will find some great wineries in Sonoma County to the north or Santa Cruz and Monterey to the south. http://www.cheers2wine.com. Have a wonderful time!

I need a list of car lots in my area asap!?
Question:
I was just rear ended, and my car was totaled. I need a list of websites in Medford Oregon, so i can print out what the lots would give me. Please help me! It was a 1993 Nissan Altima, GXE.

Answer:
If you're trying to find market value or trade-in value for an insurance settlement go to kbb.com or edmunds.com. You can get both prices off either website. Don't expect the same prices from both of them since they use their own methods to calculate trade-in and market value. But all major insurance companies have their own black books to determine both prices. So honestly evaluate your car.

why are feds giving bail to : Unruly air traveler, 19,who was "singing about Osama bin Laden"“Allah is great”?
Question:
FEBRUARY 22--The man who repeatedly yelled “Allah is great” as he was removed yesterday from a plane that was forced to make an emergency landing due to his unruly behavior is a 19-year-old Saudi Arabian who was arrested Sunday night after he led Oregon police on a drunken car chase that saw him ram two cop cars and attempt to run over pedestrians, The Smoking Gun has learned According to investigators, Yazeed Mohammed Abunayyan was smoking an electronic cigarette on a Continental Airlines flight traveling from Portland to Houston. When a flight attendant directed Abunayyan to stop smoking (or relinquish the device), he refused and began “yelling profanities and swinging his fist at the flight attendant,” according to an indictment filed this afternoon in U.S. District Court in Portland. Abunayyan, pictured in the mug shot at right, also hit or attempted to hit other passengers and was “speaking or singing about Usama bin Laden and his hatred of women,” the indictment charges. Abunayyan, who reportedly has been in the U.S. visiting relatives, was charged with a felony count of interfering with flight crew members. Male passengers on the Boeing 737 helped a flight attendant subdue Abunayyan, who was removed from the plane in plastic handcuffs and turned over to FBI agents. The Continental flight returned to Portland 20 minutes after departure. Abunayyan, who is scheduled to appear later this afternoon before a federal magistrate, was arrested Sunday evening by cops after a wild car chase in Medford, an Oregon city 275 miles south of Portland. Police reported that the intoxicated teenager led them on a 20-minute chase that ended after his Ford sedan got stuck on a dirt embankment. During the chase, Abunayyan was spotted driving in circles, attempting to run over pedestrians, and driving the wrong way on a street. He also rammed two patrol cars. "It was like ‘Grand Theft Auto',” a witness told a local newspaper. Abunayyan was booked late Sunday into the Jackson County jail on a variety of charges, including driving under the influence of intoxicants, assault on a police officer, criminal mischief, hit and run, and reckless endangerment. He was freed from custody Monday around 6 PM after posting $65,000 bond. Which allowed him, a day later, to board Flight 1118, albeit briefly http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/smoking-saudi-fly er-busted-985612

Answer:
its ok.he later denounced his faith and accepted jesus as his savior.he was last seen eating some bbq pork that he used the koran to kook it with. I personally use the Koran to wipe my butt as well as start the chimney fire and wipe my mouth as I eat pork...only good uses i have found. As far as that sick mohammed(the dog) in it, he is a pedophile that also is a homosexual that liked to take it dry as he pleased his donkey. Can’t believe so many people follow that sick sob. Muslim follows a false prophet and a false doctrine. The bible tells you that a false prophet and a false doctrine will prove they are false by their prophesies not coming true. They have many that didn't come true so they are proven a false prophet and a false doctrine. Deuteronomy 18:21-22 which reads as follows: And if thou say in thine heart, how shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

anyone have suggestions on car rentals?
Question:
i am traveling from oregon (medford) down to california (kinda all over) does anyone have suggestions for good cheap car rentals? or should we just drive our truck?

Answer:
For car rentals I usually use the "Name Your Own Price" on priceline.com and usually save about 40%. Otherwise, your next best bet is to search all nearby rental places online for special/last minute deals.

Speeding ticket in Oregon?
Question:
So I was driving from Medford to Klamath Falls (both of which are in Oregon) this afternoon and got a ticket for speeding. I was caught behind a car from California that was going 50 in a 55 zone and at times slowing down to 40 then going back to 50. I followed this car for a couple of miles and wasn't able to pass. Then there is a big downhill section which is about 2 miles long at a decent slope. The car kept braking hard (to about 40 or so) then letting off the brake until they reached 60, at which time they would brake hard again. I was getting frustrated at their driving and at the bottom of the hill it curves left and flattens out. It came to a passing section on my side and I went to pass the car. At this time the car was going about 60 but was starting to brake again. I passed the car with ease because I used my momentum to carry me around the car. I pulled over safely in front of the car I had passed and was going to coast until I got to about 60 at which time I would put the cruise control on. However, much to my dislike, I got pulled over because of my speed at the time I was passing. I was told I was going 77 in a 55 zone. I don't know what my exact speed was but I think that was about it. I told the officer how I was passing a really slow car (although I didn't tell him the entire story about it slowing down/speeding up because I was frustrated and nervous) and he asked for my license, insurance, and registration. He then went back to his car with my drivers license and came back a few minutes later with a citation for $355. Now, I am a 20 year old college student who has never gotten a ticket or in an accident before (although I was warned once for going 34 in a zone that I thought was 35 but was really 25). Does anyone have any suggestions about what I can do about this ticket? Not only is the $355 ticket a lot, but it's going to kill my insurance rates. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:
I would have waited til the car was doing forty again, not pass while they were doing 60. Not much you can do about the ticket. Go to the court date and plead no contest and ask the judge to be gentle. You can plead your case to the judge. If you are an Oregon resident, and this is your first ticket, you should qualify for diversion. I took diversion for a "finishing a pass in a double solid" ticket. You have to pay a fee to the instructor, and lose a Saturday, but it is kept off your record, and my insurance company never found out abt it.

What's the fastest way to get to last vegas by car?
Question:
I live in Medford OR, that's the border of Oregon and California. I was thinking going all the way down to Bakersfield CA, and then to las Vegas but a friend told me that he heard that there was a faster way to get there does any one know?

Answer:
I've made this trip a couple times before (although not from or to Medford, just through it). I find it's best to take I-5 down to Northern California (around Mt. Shasta). From there, you'll need to take a couple of smaller highways until you get to Reno, where you'll take I-95 all the way to Las Vegas. Either that, or you can take I-5 down to Sacramento, then take I-80 to Reno, then I-95 to Las Vegas. You should buy a map of the area (or at least Mapquest your drive) so that you don't get lost. It's a pretty easy drive though. I'm not exactly sure how long it takes to get from Medford to Las Vegas, but Reno to Las Vegas takes about 7 or 8 hours, depending on how often you stop, how fast you drive, where in Las Vegas you're going, etc. Keep in mind, there's not much fast food between Reno and Las Vegas, so you may want to stop in Reno to eat.
