What is a reasonable price of a tow in Oregon?
Question:
I got in a traffic accident in Hillsboro Oregon. My car had to be towed to the towing company about 7 miles away. What is a reasonable price for this? Also, is $30 a day for storage reasonable? And are there laws limiting what a towing company can charge? Who can I call for questions? Thanks.

Answer:
Your best bet is to call another towing company in the Hillsboro area and ask them what their pick up rate, mileage rate, and storage fees are. While I haven't dealt with fees for many years, $30 for daily storage seems like it would be the industry standard these days. Another place to check is with your insurance agency. Even if you don't have coverage for the accident, they will be able to tell you what rate they allow for such services. I suspect you will find that the towing company is charging rates that are compareble to other companies in the area. Hopefully you have insurance that covers this service. I don't know of any Oregon law that limits what rates can be charged either. I can tell you that ambulance rates would be over $1000 for the pickup and a fee of about $15 per mile from the scene to the hospital. More if advanced care was necessary.

Job opportunities in Oregon, for a friend I need a little help?!?

Where is the best place to get my car's brakes serviced in Portland, Oregon?
Question:
My brakes on my car are squeaking so they are probably way overdue for servicing. Where should I go to get them serviced? I actually live in Hillsboro. How much is a fair price for a car with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, but no no ABS or stability control?

Answer:
Give my brother a call. Email me for the number.

Where can I look for volunteers (unpaid work) that could help me.?
Question:
My husband and I are a Habitat for Humanity family. As such we need to put volunteer hours into sweat equity. 300 of the 500 required hours may be done by volunteers, family and friends. We are fairly new to the area and don't really have more than 2 friends here that can help us. All of our family are out of state, so that leaves just us. Well, longer story shortened...we were in an car accident 1/31/06 and that put a big stop in our labor hours. My husband was just released to work (including house building activities) May 30th. As a result of this accident he had to have shoulder surgery and has lost his job. We really could use some help working on our labor hours. Habitat only builds on Tue, Wed. and Sat. We are of the Willamette West Habitat out of Hillsboro Oregon. There is a special way people have to sign in for us to get credit hours. If you think that it is possible to find some volunteers for us please contact oceanbear@yahoo.com. Thank you everyone.

Answer:
Try asking your local community newspaper to do an article on you - that should get you all the publicity you need.

Is there any organization that can help with car repairs in Oregon?
Question:
OK, I just officially moved up to the Beaverton/Hillsboro area this past weekend. I have just started up my new job, and have slurped up almost all of my savings. Yesterday, I was in a fenderbender that completely messed up my front bumper. I was only going about 15 miles per hour at the time of the accident, so I doubt that any major damage occured under the hood. I know this might not sound like a big thing, but I at least need to get the bumper/fender removed, and if at all possible, replaced. my little pickup just isnt drivable right now. I am getting to know the local transit down here, so I can at least get to and from work this week, but I need to pick up my son later this week. Thats 165 miles one way. Does anyone know of any organization in the area that can help, or loan, a way to get these repairs? I am just so frustrated at the moment, and absolutely any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Why did my book leave the state?
Question:
I live in Vancouver, Washington, in the U.S.A., on the border of Oregon. Please don't stalk me. I have a P.O. box in Portland, Oregon, U.S.A., which is on the border of Washington. It's a 20 minute drive back and forth, which is fine since I have to commute along that path anyway. I ordered a book from Amazon.com that included tracking information, which said, "Shipment has left seller facility and is in transit." I wanted it shipped to my P.O. box since I don't trust my house mailbox. The ship carrier was U.S.P.S. The seller was a third party seller with 100% feedback that I've bought from before. The seller facility is in Hillsboro, Oregon, not too far west of Portland. Maybe a half hour drive. A week later, the book had not arrived, so I checked the tracking information again, which said that the book was last seen getting a "Departure Scan" in "Federal Way, Washington." Which is an almost three hour drive north from Portland. Only to come all the way back down to its intended destination? I've noticed this with all of the stuff that I've ordered from Amazon.com recently, but I didn't question it since all of the things were usually being shipped from some far away state. Since the book was coming from a nearby town, I thought that I could avoid the long wait, but I thought wrong since it ended up going to Federal Way anyway. Can anyone explain this? Why did my book go to Federal Way? Why does everything that I order go to Federal Way? Should I break out the ol' tinfoil hat, or is it just postal incompetence? Or is there some sort of system that I don't know about? Does it have to do with my home address being in Washington? Even though postal workers wouldn't know that? You would think this would be simple. Shipped from Hillsboro, it should have gone east, a couple of cities over to Portland, not north to another state. I Googled it and found horror stories of people's packages leaving the country or going around in circles, as if it's rocket science brain surgery. Should I get in my car and drive up to Federal Way and intercept my book before it can escape justice yet again? Maybe chase down the postal truck that it's in and demand that the driver pull over, shouting into my megaphone and waving a gun in a high speed pursuit down the freeway? Use the pit maneuver like cops do on TV? Maybe hijack a copter like on Terminator 2? All to capture my wayward book? Help! Hey, Bella. I said that because you were bossing around your whole family and someone needed to call you out on it. Thanks for proving my point, bitch. Reported.

Answer:
I think the answer is that your parcel doesn't travel on its own. If the company only delivered parcels from the vendor to you, they'd find a more direct and obvious way to do it. As it is, they have to deliver parcels from any point to any other point so they do it in the most efficient way. The most efficient logistics model found so far is hub and spoke. Within a relatively large area, all parcels travel to a central hub, whence they are sent out to their destinations. Compared with point-to-point delivery, hub and spoke requires fewer depots, fewer routes and works out cheaper. Scheduling is easier, and load factors are higher (less empty space on vehicles). The same happens with people on aeroplanes - if I want to go from London to Tampa, United will route me via Chicago, and Delta via Cincinnati - their choice of hub.

How safe are our kids and our streets or homes where illegals are how safe from illegal aliens are they?
Question:
HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — A Hillsboro man will spend at least 25 years in prison after a jury convicted him of felony murder in the death of his girlfriend’s 20-month-old daughter. Ramon Rodriguez Moreno, 28, will be sentenced Thursday. Under Oregon’s sentencing laws, felony murder means life in prison with a chance for parole after 25 years. If Rodriguez gets out of prison after 25 years, he will be deported to Mexico as an illegal immigrant. Rodriguez testified that he did not know he was injuring the girl, Dulce Samantha Hernandez Onofre. He used a doll to demonstrate how he shook her and pushed her onto a sofa when she wouldn’t stop crying http://www.argusobserver.com/articles/2007/09/26/news/11. txt BOSTON -- A 12-year-old boy was in stable condition Wednesday morning, recovering after being hit and dragged by a van in Lynnfield. The driver of that van is an illegal immigrant and doesn't have a license.http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/14206624/detail.html An illegal immigrant from Mexico was arrested Sunday on a DUI complaint after police say he struck a child with a car. Answer:
This is not good. People who are illegal can not go to driving school. Can not get a license. Can not stop to assist after an accident why? Because they could face consequences. This is the mentality. They can not produce in America from labor or can not educate themselves to become a larger or important citizen because why? They are illegals. We need to start addressing this. We don't have only a few thousand we have millions. We need to begin a military reserve to educate assist and identify these aliens. They could be Americanized with education assistance and do labor for the privilage of free housing and education. They could be trained to assist in many aspects of labor. Construction, sanitation, building roads, planting new growth in areas that have been desolated by floods and fires. All of this could assist but to many persons this is ridiculous because they can not see the big picture. To busy complaining about the mess.Persons can not see how these millions of persons can be an asset to the economy when educated and all of the baby boomers have retired. Who will carry the torch for America's next generation. Will it be a drug culture of illegals who can't work. How many illegals now have atleast one child. Do the math persons and look to the future. What do you see?

Where is the best place to live in United State?
Question:
Hi I would like to know where is the best place to live in United State. I have been lived in Oregon for 4month( Hillsboro in Portland) and San Diego for 4month( Little Italy Down Town San Diego) Good thing about living in Oregon was no tax and people were very kind and friendly But cold and wet weather was not for me): I had very bad headache all the time from 4days a week rainy day San Diego was totally nice for me The weather was almost perfect for me because I raise in tropical island in Japan( Okinawa which located in south of japan) But I could do nothing without car and tax was bit expensive than Oregon I would like to live in America for short term again Please give me some advice!

Answer:
What is your main concerns? Every place will have downsides (i.e. Oregon's taxes, Alaska's cost of living and property), but they also have benefits too (weather, no tax, etc). If you're main concern is the climate and the weather, I would recommend researching cities based on that first (i.e. where has earthquakes, where has tornadoes, etc), then go from there. Do you want to live in a big city, or will a small town suffice?

I need to find my husband so that I can file for divorce...Only serious answers please, no put downs.?
Question:
I married my husband 11/16/06. Two months after our wedding he took off back to Oregon. I have no way of finding out where he lives or anything. I know that he lived in Beaverton and Hillsboro for awhile. The last time I talked to him was a year and a half ago and he had mentioned that he was moving to Wyoming. Shortly after our wedding, he got pulled over for not using his blinker and then was sited for no insurance. He eventually got insurance back on his car, but he still would've had to appear in court and pay a fine. No jail time or anything, just a fine and a suspended sentence. No big deal. It's in the paper here all the time. Well, a week before his court date, he claimed he had to get back to Oregon and tie up some loose ends. I tried to talk him out of it, at least until he cleared up the court mess. He said it couldn't wait. I found out later that he went back because his ex was having problems with her bf and he was hoping to win her back (I know, I really know how to pick them). For awhile he would call me and tell me how much his life sucked and blah blah blah. He started doing drugs and was couch surfing. Eventually we lost touch and I haven't heard from him in a year and a half. When I would bring up getting a divorce, he would change the subject or say he had to go. I'm back together with my kids' dad, and things are going great, we're not talking about marriage yet, because we still want to work on us (counseling and stuff), but there's this elephant that always right there with us and I just want to be done with it. I read up on the laws and it says that I must make a diligent effort to find him so that I can serve him with the papers before I can make a public notification. I can't hire a P.I., so how else could I go about finding him. I have a way to contact his ex, but I don't want to bring anything up for her, because my husband stalked her and it was quite traumatic for her, and I'm hoping that she was able to get help and move past it ( he really scared her and I apologized to her because I had a feeling he was going down strictly for her). His name is Aaron James Jones b-date 12/9/84. I just really need to close this chapter in my life and move on. I tried to make it work while he was here, but the truth is if a person doesn't love you, you can't make it work. Anyone that has any information or any tips on how to do this, that would be great, thank you. If you have any other questions, just email me. Do you think if I went to Craigslist, that might work too? I'm just trying to get this over with. I am going to try and contact the Beaverton and Hillsboro paper (and Portland) after I get some addresses and send out a few certified letters. I've posted a bulletin on myspace also hoping that some of my friends from Oregon might repost it. But what do you think, Craigslist???

Answer:
My ex had 3 attys. in his family, so I KNOW what they did was by the guidelines of the law. He advertised in the news paper in the personal column doing a search for me. You would need to use the place where you LAST knew of his where abouts. How are you to know where he's moved or taken off to from there. But you need to advertise for a certain length of time, which an atty. could help you w/that. After the time has lapsed, you are unable to find him, then you can file for your divorce. You've done everything in your power to find him. I did not know he was going to take this route, because he knew where I worked, & PROMISED me he would have me served. NO, he choose the other route. I'm sure he was advised by his family to do it this way instead. I had NO idea whatsoever he had done this. Six yrs. later, my g/f told me just for the heck of it to ck. w/the court house where I had an idea he would have filed for a divorce IF he had filed at all. Sure enuf, I found out I had been divorced for 6 yrs. & never knew of it! I then had an original copy w/the raised seal mailed to me for $10, & got my divorce papers that way. This to me would be the only way you're going to be able to do it also. Hiring a P.I. is going to be very costly to say the least. But to me, the most/least you can do is to advertise where you last knew his where abouts. You'll have to ck. w/the law to make sure I'm rite on this. But how can you be expected to even try to follow someone all over the United States to have him served w/divorce papers. You can look in your local news papers & see this is done all the time exactly the way I mentioned. IF this satisfies the law, I would put that ad in the paper immediately & get things at least going in the rite direction. I am VERY happy for you in that you do have a chance of true happiness. You surely DO deserve it. I wish you all the best...:)
