I'm going to live out of my car in Eugene, Oregon. Where should I park it?
Question:
I've been living out of my Toyota 4Runner for two years now and I like the lifestyle. I'm moving to Eugene soon and I want to know some neighborhoods, areas, parking lots, good side streets you recommend parking at where I am least likely to be bothered by cops or reported by residents. Where should I park?

Answer:
Honey you can find housing... I realize you like living in your car but where do you bathe and go to the restroom? 1 great thing about being an american is that you can get help with housing! Good luck sweetheart! Please stay warm!

Anyone know of a good place to get a diagnostics test on a car in Eugene, Salem or Portland, Oregon?
Question:
I'm trying to buy a used car and I wanted to get it looked at beforehand. Thanks!

Answer:
Recently when looking at a used car I called the two Volvo dealers in Portland and they both had programs in place to run a diagnostics check and to give a general opinion of the overall condition of the car. The cost was very reasonable. I would suggest you call the local dealers for the car make you are looking at and ask them for a price and time to bring the car in. If the selling party won't let you have someone look at the car before any buying agreement (including price) is made, walk away.

what are some fun things to do in the portland/eugene ares of oregon?
Question:
my sister recently moved to eugene and is flying back at the end of this month go finish getting her furniture. and i was lucky enough to get the opportunity to drive one of her cars across the country from alabama. so what are some cool places to visit in the area.

Answer:
I don't know that Eugene and Portland are that close.... I'm from portland tho, so here's my suggestions if you make it into the area: *Roam around downtown (you can take pretty much any bus or hop the MAX) - there are soooooo many beautiful buildings and sculptures (you have to check out Portlandia on the Portland building. She's my favourite! statue of liberty's sister), hang out at the downtown library if you're into books. The building itself is enough to visit. Pretty much the biggest most beautiful library I've ever seen in my life. *Hawthorne street - it's a very ghetto hippie area. Beware of the crazy liberals, but there are some pretty fun shops up and down the street! (Powell's Books, Buffalo Exchange, Red Light, Metro, Jambo, etc) *Any McMenamins facility is going to be great. My favourite is Kennedy School - it's an old elementary school (rumoured to be haunted) that has a restaurant, a movie theatre with comfy couches and chairs, and a few different small bars (if you're of age) that are held in old classrooms. *The saturday market downtown is really fun too. It's pretty much hippie fest LOL but it has good food and some really fun vendors. It's also held downtown. *If you're into skateboarding (or into skaters??) the burnside skatepark is fun to just go and watch even if you don't skate. That's all I can think of right now. :) Hope you have fun!

How do I get from the University of Oregon campus to the Eugene airport?
Question:
I am not from the area and am very unfamiliar with the transportation system. As far as I could tell though, there isn't a bus route that will drop you off at the airport. I will not have a car and can not assume that I will know someone who has a car as I need to make reservations asap. Transportation wise???? Is there a bus system that will take me to the Eugene Airport?

Eugene, Oregon. where can I find good sponsors?
Question:
I have a metals class that builds electric car and races them all over the NorthWest to promote new ways of energy. But the thing is that it is very expensive to build. So sometimes we need to promote a buisness on our car is they would like to sponsor and help us out a bit. If you would like to sponsor that would be fantastic or if you know the area where can I find some trustworthy places that can help? We can take anything from small donations of supplies or cash so can you help?

Answer:
Eugene is a smaller town and I would think plenty of businesses would be thrilled to get their name out across the region. You'll just have to hit the pavement and go door to door explaining your cause. Take photo's of the cars with other sponsors' logos on them and be prepared to answer specific questions. I would recommend first soliciting businesses such as auto parts stores, repair shops, car rental agencies, and eco-oriented businesses (I know there's plenty of those in Eugene!) Good luck.

Where is the closest place to the Oregon border to get an enhanced smog?
Question:
So I am kind of in a weird situation. I live in Eugene Oregon but my car is registered in California, and I need to keep in registered in California. I need to get an enhanced smog and someone I talked to said the closest place is Redding, Ca but I'm hoping I don't need to drive that far. I tried to look up some info but did not have any luck. If you you know of any cities that does enhanced smogs that is closer to Oregon than Redding that would be great. Thank you ahead of time. I recently moved to Oregon but I am moving back to California in a few months. I need to get my car smogged within a week so I figured I would just drive down to California. So I'm wondering where the closest place would be to get a enhanced smog. I realize I don't cannot get it smogged in Oregon. I was talking about the closest place in California. I wish I could just get it registered in Oregon but I cannot because I need to stay on my families insurance plan, and I'll be going back to California in a few months. Hopefully I won't get into trouble though.

Answer:
My impression from a question I answered from a girl on here a couple months ago, was that smog testing has to be done in the local air district that the car is registered in. She was going to school in Butte County, but the car was registered in Contra Costa County, and they said she couldn't get it tested in the area where she was. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkN73QbA8BKa 7r6lsNg3TbLty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20110209175147AAB1sF6

Mini-Motorcycles in Oregon (Pocketbikes, Pocketrockets, Crotchrockets, Mini-Bikes)?
Question:
I have a red 3ft tall Yamaha Mini-Dirtbike from 2000, and I live in Eugene, Oregon. It has a permit for Oregon and expires in 2012. I bought it in Springfield. I live right next to a Medical Clinic and they have a large parking lot. They are closed on the weekends, and my daughter gets taught how to drive there (she has a permit). Since people can drive there when closed, can minors ride pocketbikes there? As in younger than 16? There is a sign that says: No Tresspassing No Skateboarding No Rollerbladeing No Bicycles at the clinic. But my son always does those things (for 6 years) and no one says anything. I think the signs are for when its open and theres cars.

Answer:
Pocket bikes are not legal on the street, bike path, bike lane, sidewalk, or public parking lots. Pocket bikes are only legal on private property with owner's consent. Do you have the consent of the medical clinic to ride on their property? Suspect the group that is providing your daughter's riding lessons have consent to use the parking lot. Otherwise, it is as the sign states, NO TRESPASSING. Since pocket bikes are not street legal, age or licensing is not an issue. Also what part of "NO TRESPASSING" don't you understand? Wouldn't make much sense for a medical clinic to enforce a NO TRESPASSING policy during normal hours of operation. "We want you to use our facility, but don't walk, skateboard, rollerblade, or bicycle on your parking lot."

Where were you during the Moon Landing, 40 years ago today?
Question:
I was in a basement apartment in Eugene, Oregon, watching the landing on a 10 inch black & white TV. I checked the streets, there was not a single car moving, everybody was watching the landing. I thought by now there'd be settlements up there.

Answer:
At school, apparently we in Australia were the first to receive the transmissions & broadcast them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xNBsueJ4wY&feature=related Yes where are settlements? Still, we have other wonders, here we are rapping.

Moving to Sacramento CA from Eugene OR. Any advice?
Question:
I'm pretty spontaneous and I've lived in Eugene/Springfield Oregon the majority of my life. I'm ready for a change. I'm bored here and I've always wanted to move closer to a bigger city. I went down to Frisco last weekend and roamed Frisco/Sacramento area and fell in love. I wouldn't want to live right in the down town area that's just insane lol but right outside of all the hussle and bussle would be ideal. I don't have any kids and don't plan on having any for a WHILE. I've done some research scoping out places to live ect and it's really not much more expensive than what I pay here for living. Minus tax and yearly car registration fee. Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated. I'm looking into the carmichael/citrus heights area of Sac and would be hopefully getting a job at one of the near by medical facilities and going to school nxt yr or so. How's this area? How's the night life? I do have two boxer dogs, are there any dog restrictions I need to know about?

Answer:
Just remember that it doesn't rain as much as it does in Oregon and the green hills you saw last week will turn yellow for the rest of the year. There is a lot of things you can do....go west to the bay area and be in a big city or go east to the Sierra Mountains and enjoy beautiful scenery and lots of outdoor activities. There are a lot of neighborhoods around sacramento that are nice if you want to live in all new area rocklin and roseville has a lot of new stuff.
