Can a Texas State Trooper write you a ticket in Oklahoma?
Question:
Being that I had graduated from Oklahoma State University, a few years ago, the company that I now work for sent me to Stillwater and Oklahoma City to lead a short project. While I was in Oklahoma City, I was pulled over by a Texas State Trooper. What had happen was he saw the passenger throw something out the window that struck and broke a window of another car. Well, I was driving alone the whole time. I had explained to the Trooper that I have been driving alone the whole time, and the rental car that I was driving was a popular make and model. After that the Trooper knew that he had made a mistake and apologized. I would like to add that the Troop was extremely respectful and polite the whole time from the beginning to the end of our encounter. I had lived in Oklahoma City before and after I when to OSU, and never once have I ever heard of someone being pulled over by Texas authorities in Oklahoma City. I did not grow up in Oklahoma, so I do not know if the Oklahoma and Texas authorities have an agreement of some kind or another (I do not think they do). So, my question is can a Texas State Trooper pull you over and ticket you in Oklahoma/Oklahoma City? Oklahoma and Texas are two different states with two different jurisdictions. If a Texas authority can write you a ticket or arrest you how do the inter-jurisdiction processers work, and how are the visiting authorities allowed to operate? Also, when I was younger I was an MP. In the Florida National Guard, and we not allowed to enforce law and order when we were out of our jurisdiction. It does state in my question that I was I "Oklahoma City" when I was pulled over by the Texas State Trooper. I think that Oklahoma City is 120 miles from Texas. I have done some more research on this subject and it does appear that any (civilian) police officer can arrest, apprehend, pursue, detain, or, write tickets, if they view a person breaking the law in any jurisdiction. That in many cases it is a dereliction of duty if an officer does not intervene. When I was an MP. In the Florida National Guard, I once got in a bit of trouble (I got chewed out pretty bad, but no disciplinary action were taken or suggested against me.) for trying to arrest a civilian while I was off post. The kid was about 20 years old (I was 19 at the time), and I had viewed him taking an elderly man’s wallet right of him hands. I intervened and detained him, but because I had told him he was under arrest the county authorities could not arrest him again, and his charges were dismissed in court b because I was out of jurisdiction, and had no authority, and because his crime was not a felony the argument of me making a citizen’s arrest was also dismissed. I thought that I my case of the Texas State Trooper the situation of jurisdiction and authority would have been the same, but it looks like most cases that civilian police officers have authority no matter where they go in the USA. I would like to thank everyone for their answers.

Answer:
I am not sure about Texas or Oklahoma but in some other states if an officer sees you do something in his state he can pursue you into another state and pull you over or take you into custody. You didn't say if the actual incident may have happened in Texas you only said he pulled you over in Oklahoma.

My story.. Should I give up?
Question:
Hi, My name is Eric Keller. I'm from Stillwater, Oklahoma. Nearly 5 years ago when I was 18 I was living with my mom, her fiance, and my sister. My mother's fiance suddenly decided to kick us out without anything when things were going fine. My mom convinced me to take money from his closet and I finally gave in and took it. I left and met up with my mom and gave her all the money. We called my brother in-law and sister and they came and got us and moved to the next state. We got an apartment and was arrested a few days later. My sister turned us in.. Even though they spent some of the money along with us.. They weren't charged. I spent 42 days in jail. Was charged with a Class C Felony, a 3 year suspended sentence to the DOC (which means I got supervised probation.. 5 years total). My mom got out 90 days later and got a 7 year suspended sentence to the DOC and 5 years supervised probation. We moved back to my home-state and moved in with my aunt for awhile until we got on our feet. I earned my G.E.D and started applying for jobs.. After months and months of searching I finally found a decent desk job as a data entry clerk but I had to lie on my application. (The reason I lied is because I was honest on the ones before and they all blew me off). They found out after 3 months and fired me. A few months later when I found another job I worked at a sonic drive-in as a cook and was really good at it but got fired because I was sick for too long. I moved out while I was working at Sonic, had a car, and was living with my girlfriend.. which made me SOOO happy to be out of my moms.. Now I have not had a job in over a year. I have tried EVERYWHERE in town and even surrounding cities. My car broke down so I have no car now. I am living with my mom. I have osteo-arthritis in my back so it really limits what I can do so construction is out of the question. I am a lost soul without anymore to give. I am a fighter.. I've fought years and years to try to better myself. It never gets better, maybe for a moment but then it gets bad again. I have nothing left. I ditched all my friends to concentrate on finding a job more. I am severely depressed. I never meant for this to happen but it did. The Judge went to school with my moms fiance (her fiance was an ex-detective also), so we already had people against us and had a harsh sentence. Suspended record means it will ALWAYS stay there. It will never go away no matter how hard I try unless I get a one-in-a-million chance of getting it expunged years an years later. My mom pays $300 a month in restitution, court fees, and probation fees. I pay around $140. (Monthly). She is barely making ends meet and lost her job. I am giving up. I think within the next week I am going to Rob a store, then have the clerk call the police and let the police take me because I have nothing to offer this world with a felony. Sorry to make this such a long sob story but I just wanted to get it out. I'm scared to go to prison because I'm only like 140 pounds, very young looking, and handsome. I'm sure they would love someone like that. But maybe they will kill me in prison instead. I have thought about killing myself but I just can't. I will pray for all others out there who have a felony and are about ready to give up. It won't hurt to ask .. if someone has some tips or something on what I should do please write here or email me. I still have a little fight left but within 1-2 weeks I'm pulling the plug. Thanks to whoever read this. Excuse me? This is what is really irritating too. Someone is judging me just by my story. He doesn't even know me; but yet thinks I'm acting like I'm the victim. When I'm just telling my story. Yes. I helped my mom take the money. I made the worst mistake in my life because I was stupid and young. I learned from my mistake. I have tried my hardest too commit myself fully in everything I do and make a better life for myself. I have only committed that one crime and have not committed any others in nearly 5 years. As far as me committing a crime again by robbing a store (staged-robbery so I have a reason to go to jail/prison) because I give up. It's my only way out and it is not too OUT someone out of anything. I would just simply say give me your money with a fake gun and then tell them to call the police. I have studied hundreds of cases similar or more extreme to my case. The judge hardly gave me a break. Plus quadrupled the money that was taken. Temp agencies (at least around here do not accept felons), all the unemployment agency does is give you a class on how to interview, find a job, etc. I've taken it 3 times. I was in High School still. My mom had spent all her money moving in with him. We were going to be homeless and would lose my sister. So I made the mistake. She asked me to take it.All employment here is taken by college kids. Every place now, expect a very select few does background checks. Even Mcdonald's, Arby's, etc. I have applied everywhere and email my resume to jobs daily and I always call to see if they've reviewed my application and they always make an excuse. I did not mean for this to be a pity thread, but I guess that's what 9 out of 10 of you are going to take it as. I just don't want to give up so I'm trying my hardest to think as best as I can before I go committing a crime on purpose so they will send me to jail. So go ahead.. Flame me, judge me, tell me I'm worthless and a pity sucker. And I think it is funny how you call me a liar because I lied on an application to get a job (which is the only way I stood a chance to get the job). Everyone lies, don't act like you're any better than me just because I had to do what I had to do; but maybe you're perfect and NEVER lie. That "totally" makes sense. But don't listen to me. I'm a felon. A bad, bad man.

Answer:
i find it interesting that through it all you are unrepentant, act like some sort of victim. but you are a thief. and a liar. you try to put the blame on the guy you stole from, and the law. but, that judge you blame gave you a break. now you're talking about more crime. poor you. while you could have made this right at any point along the way, you choose to blame others for your lot in life. now you want help. well, i can't help you; nobody can. that's up to you. i would suggest to you that you get a clue, man up, and change your life.

Where are some DMV's in Oklahoma?
Question:
I know there's one in Stillwater, and in OKC I think, but are there any others, please? I already tried twice in Stillwater, but the traffic there is so crazy and intimidating that I'm too scared to concentrate, last time the woman shouted at me to stop the car and go back. I didn't make it a block. I'm too ashame to go there again. And OKC I imagine would have worse traffic. Is there a Dmv in OK with less traffic? Please, if someone said yes, you would so make my day! My month even! I need to get my lisence still :)

grammar and punctuation help please!!?
Question:
this is something I wrote and am trying to make it sound better and was hoping for grammar and punctuation help My husband ordered us tickets to see Nine Inch Nails which is his favorite band. I agreed to go because it would allow us to get out of the house for a night, which we typically don’t do. I had my reservations about going and thought it wouldn’t be my type of event. Six hours before the concert begins my mother arrived to watch our son. We leave and begin our trek to Oklahoma City and stop at the Spaghetti Warehouse to get something to eat, the food was great, I had the garlic and mushroom pasta, my husband got the fifteen layer lasagna, we ordered and split desert, a tiramisu that was delicious. As we are walking to the Ford Center (where the concert is being held) a man on a bike, with some sort of carriage attached, offers us a ride, we accept and hop in to this odd contraption that I had never seen before, I asked him what it was and he replied a bikeshaw (like a rickshaw but since he was transporting is on a bike it was a bikeshaw) It felt extremely awkward to be chauffeured to our destination by a man on a bicycle. We arrive at our destination, the Ford Center, ready to get our tickets; the Ford Center seemed to have different plans for us. We were required to wait 2 hours in the sweltering heat because they had to search everyone. The two men ahead of us in line were from Stillwater they went to OSU, we basically were forced to eavesdrop on everyone in line, since we were stuck with them for two hours. The line finally started moving an hour after standing in one spot, we were grateful to move a couple of feet. As we were getting closer to being searched one of the men in line ahead of us ran to his car, apparently he had something on him that he didn’t want the searchers to find. I find being searched kind of degrading, but I wasn’t going to oppose it I wanted in side where there was air-conditioning. When we walked in we went and purchased a shirt, hat, and water I needed the water badly. We go into the main room where NIN are playing since we got floor seats( which aren’t seats ) we had to stand there for five hours which wasn’t bad once the band started playing. There is supposed to be no smoking but it seems everyone disregarded this and was smoking. The man who was next to us offered us a joint, we declined, he was even able to smuggle in a bottle of whiskey. The show was amazing they had the best light show I have ever seen. We were so thrilled with the show we have already ordered tickets to their next show in Oklahoma which is November 22, in Tulsa. please, please, please and thank you!!! i will pick the best answer!!! you will get points for helping me!!

Auto Accident Settlement?
Question:
My family was in a auto accident 4 weeks ago. I am having HUGE issues with my insurance company and the at fault parties insurance. According to my insurance company my vehicle is fixable (after they bend and square the frame!) and according to the other company it is a total loss. I understand that the other company is willing to pay total loss so that they don't have to pay rental fees and diminished value, but what if I don't want the car back? Can I get my insurance to pay diminished value on a vehicle that has had frame work because I know that when I go to trade that vehicle in the amount I am going to get back is going to be ridiculous! Secondly, my knee hit the dash (we were going between 35 &40) so I am currently being seen for soft tissue damage. My son (2) had a mark on his neck from the car seat and my daughter (4) is having nightmares. The at-fault insurance company offered me $150 for each child in the accident for I guess pain and suffering. I know insurance companies are not willing to pay out, but that was offensive. My husband was able to walk away from the vehicle but now is having lower back pain, is it to late to have the other insurance pick up his medical bills if he was to be seen? Especially since he told them he had not been injured? (though I told him not to say anything because I know that these things can pop up later) The other insurance company is out of Texas who's liability is 25/50/25 but I know that they are not going to pay out even though the accident has put us in horrible positions. My husband is active duty military and almost got charged with being AWOL because he couldn't make it in to work because we got stranded in Oklahoma (we live in New Mexico). Then I had to drive him to work, drive back to Stillwater turn in the rental, wait for him to drive our other vehicle back and pick me and my children up, then drive us back. It's been a nightmare! Should I just hire an attorney and get it taken care of and loose all this stress?

Answer:
I would strongly suggest you talk with at least three attorneys and listen very carefully to what they think your options could be in this situation. The insurance companies will try to get everything settled quickly, but don't let them pressure you into anything. Yes, your husband is entitled to medical treatment that resulted from injuries in the accident -- even though he walked away and "thought" he was fine. Getting sore and realizing pains days after the accident is very common. Talk with several attorneys before you go any further with the insurance companies. Best wishes.
