Speeding Ticket, no previous record, LICENSE REVOKED?
Question:
I am 19 years old, I have never been pulled over and have never had a previous record. Recently I was put in a bad situation where I was on a freeway in Wooster, Ohio. I was going the speed limit (65) and was about to pass a semi-truck and so I got in the left lane. As I went to pass I noticed a car coming up very quickly in my rear view mirror in the left lane. I thought this car was close to hitting me so i slowly began speeding up to just get back in the left lane. At this point I couldnt even see the headlights of the car behind me because they were so close. I hit the gas and hurried up to get in thre right lane. Unfortunately, an officer clocked me going 95 mph, and another person(either the guy behind me or the guy behind him) also got pulled over at the same time as me but by another officer. I do not believe I was really going that quickly but he picked me up with a laser. The officer was nice but gave me a citation. He told me that I DID NOT have to appear in court, but if I wanted to that the address was at the bottom of the ticket. To plead my case for the bad situation i was in, I decided to attend court. The ticket was given to me on April 4th, 2010. On April 11th the officer called me and said that instead of having the court date on the 14th that it is now the 13th. Without arguing about how late of notice this was, I agreed and said I'd show up on that day. In court I told the judge just about everything I could remember. I pleaded No Contest and explained my story. Afterwards he asked if I go to school. I told him yes, I am full time in college and work two jobs. I was very nice and he knew I had no previous record. Within not even a minute he said your fee will be $220 and your licensed will be revoked for 6 MONTHS. I am in complete and utter shock. Despite the fact that I pay for my college and work full time AND have two jobs and took my license. Despite the terrible situation i was put in I feel this is unjustly and that there has to be SOMETHING I can do. I was told to write a letter to the judge of my school and work schedule, all of which will constantly change over the next 6 months, and then, MAYBE, he will grant me the opportunity to drive ONLY to school and work. Sorry this is so long.. but I need advice or someone who knows about this stuff. Has anyone been in a situation such as this or know anyone that has? Does anyone know what I could do now that I have been found "guilty?" Any information would be greatly appreciated. ohh, forgot to add this to the already long story.. I absolutely do not believe I was going 95. Had a GPS that said my average speed from this 4 hour trip was 68 mpg. I believe the cop clocked the car behind me since he was literally riding my tail once again.. the car was just feet behind me, the cop clocked both of us hundreds of feet away. chances are the cops laser got the guy behind me. my gps said my average speed was 68mph. i asked for advice not a bunch of dicks.

Answer:
You think that the police clocked the car behind you? You could not have been going that fast, but the car behind you could ... how did they not ram the back of your car? You were in the same lane as they were, according to you going much slower than they were ... and you were in front of them! If they were going much faster than you ... why was there no crash? Unless you can explain how it is physically possible for the car behind you (riding your tail) to be going a lot faster than you are, without hitting you, this argument falls apart. Your average speed for a 4 hour trip was 68 mph ... that does not mean that you never went above 68 ... you could spend most of the trip doing 60 mph, with a short sprint at 95 mph, and still have a 68 mph average speed. Your average speed argument will not help you. You were driving at 95 mph, and deserved the ticket. You were driving recklessly and were found guilty. I just knocked both of your defensive arguments down in less than 10 minutes ... and I am not a judge or officer of the court, a judge would probably find more holes in your story. I see nothing here exceptional enough to get the court's sentence set aside, I do see a story that needs a lot of work to be believable, in it's current state the events are not likely, some are flat out impossible.
