Can you drive sport cars like Ferari or Bentley in North Dakota?
Question:
I'm just curious because i love sport cars and i have never seen these cars in Fargo, ND. Is there a law that prohibits cars like that from North Dakota.

Answer:
There is no law against certain cars in North Dakota. The main reason you don't see those cars in this area is because they are impratical to own. People do own them but with our long winters and windy weather blowing dust and dirt around most people keep them in storage. This means that even if you do have enough money to buy one, you still have to have other vehicles to drive because you really can't enjoy driving a ferari in the snow. If you go to a car show you will usually spot 1 or 2 of these cars and the owners will tell you that they hardly ever drive the things.

You like the road scenery Fargo, North Dakota to Winnipeg "I-29 &Pembina Hwy"?
Question:
Would you recommend this drive to people from Europe and Japan? Suppose they wanted to pay $3,500 Canadian dollars to fly to Fargo, North Dakota, then rent a car and do this amazing drive I-29 to Pembina Highway and then head home. Wouldn't that be a beautiful trip? and also hang out at the Forks and visit the West End Cultural Centre and the St. Boniface and Manitoba Museum and Zoo Bar in Osborne Village and North End, and Folklorama..... but mainly for the Fargo-Winnipeg drive

Answer:
If by interesting you mean FLAT AND BORING. Although, for someone coming from a country with as high a population density as japan, it would probably be very, very neat. I would also recommend taking them to the whiteshell. It is only 2 hours from winnipeg, and one of the hidden treasures of western/central canada. Grand beach is also neat for people not from here!

Getting your car to start in cold weather? (Fargo, ND)?
Question:
Ok, I just moved to Fargo North Dakota from Portland Oregon for school purposes. I understand the winters in this region are quite cold..frequently below zero...and I am nervous about my 91 pontiac sunbird being able to start in those conditions. I've researched Engine Block heaters and other such heaters but the problem is, they all need to be plugged in, and my school has no electrical outlets on available in the parking lots. So my questions are as follows: 1. Am I overreacting...do people in these parts not actually use these? 2. Will my car have problems starting without a device such as these? If so, what would you recommend me do? THANK YOU

Answer:
The handbook for the old Russian Lada cars used to recommend switching on the headlights for 10 seconds. This warms the battery, so it will work better when operating the starter. Turn the lights off again before trying to start the engine. Also, change to a fully synthetic engine oil such as Mobil 1. This has a greater viscosity range 0W-40 or 5W-50, which will help the oil circulate in cold weather.

San Francisco to Fargo, ND - Which route is better for avoiding snow?
Question:
I'm moving from San Francisco to Fargo, North Dakota the last week of October. There's two possible routes to take: 1) take I-80 East from San Francisco to Omaha, Nebraska which takes me through Reno, Salt Lake City, and Cheyenne, and then take I-29 North to Fargo; 2) take I-80 to Salt Lake City, Utah, then I-15 North to Butte, Montana, then I-90 East to Billings, Montana and finally I-94 East to Fargo. I'm driving a 17' truck and towing a car. I don't want to get snowed in as I only have 5 days to move. Please advise which route is safer for avoiding snow and whether I should carry snow chains and other safety gear, and if so, what kind of safety gear. Thanks in advanced.

Answer:
Hmm...in late October there could for sure be snonw in North Dakota. I would almost count on snow in Montana (I was there at the end of May last year and there was a blizzard). I guess your best bet would be the first option. I lived in Minnesota all my life until three months ago and never saw anyone use snow chains. But I'm not sure how Wyoming would be near Cheyenne at that time of year. If you have snow chains or are planning on getting them anyway, then go ahead and bring them. As for safety gear, make up a kit in case you get stranded. Include warm blankets, gloves, ski mask, matches, flares (although you'll be on interstates the entire time so you may not need those), bottles of water, extra food. Realize, though, that if there is an awful storm the interstates may close down and if you continue driving and get stuck, no one will come get you until the roads have been cleared.

Question:

NHL team in North Dakota?
Question:
I heard a suggestion that with all of the talk surrounding Phoenix that Kansas City, Quebec City, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, and Milwaukee are being seriously considered for the team with Quebec and Seattle as front-runners. However, I heard somebody on the radio in the car, not sure which station, suggest that Baltimore and North Dakota are very interested and viable options for a team. This got me thinking, is North Dakota actually a viable market, being so close to Minnesota and all. But what I heard was that with the success of the North Dakota fighting sioux that Fargo could house a team. They have a metropolitan area of 210 000, plus surrounding areas of Bismark and Minnesota could mean a total of about 450 000 people. The smallest NHL market in terms of population ever was Hartford at 125,000 people and some say that if they had a better on ice product would have been there longer. What do you think. Right now they have a 19 000 seat arena but I don't think a team could be supported because of a lack of financial support from big companies and because they have two markets relatively close to them in Minnesota and Winnipeg. I feel like that every other market that has been suggested would probably be better but I do not know if the fans would be as passionate. I don't think there is a chance an NHL team will ever be put there but an AHL team would be great.

Answer:
I could see a team in North Dakota but if any city were to get it would be Quebec City, Quebec.
