What is the cheapest place to rent a car near Raleigh, North Carolina?
Question:
I am willing to drive about an hour or so to pick up the car. Please let me know : )

Answer:
The best way to get a cheap rental car is to use Priceline. The fact that you're willing to drive to get to the car opens up "off-the-airport" rental options (such as Enterprise on Capital Blvd.).

What is the reason for so many abandoned cars on I-40 in Raleigh NC?
Question:
Every day i drive I-40 East and Westbound from Raleigh to Durham North Carolina, and it astonishes me how many broken down or abandoned cars I see with White trash bags hanging out of the drivers window? What's the reason for this? My best guess is that many of these cars simply run out of gas. Does anyone else have an idea? The number seems to be a bit high for people to just run out of gas!

Answer:
A lot of people are arrested on out of state felony warrants along that stretch of I-40 and are extradited back to their native state, leaving the car behind?

I live in Raleigh, North Carolina and need to rent a car. I am 19. is this possible?
Question:
I am 19 years old. Is it possible for me to be able to rent a car? I need to go to Virginia for an interview.

Answer:
I am not so sure if you will be able to, at that age. I have heard (from my husband) that most rental car companies will not accept anyone under the age of 25, to rent a car, and/ or with bad driving record. My husband had once tried to rent a car, when he was 23 yrs old. He found out that most rental companies set a age limit, to 25 and older and some 21 and older, due to what they believe an age where most will be responsible, as mature adults. He ended up having me help him out, by co-signing for him, under my name, because he needed to rent a car to drive down to his mother's house, to make it to his grandmother's funeral, in SC. Since we both were going down there, I happen to I save his butt that day, . .because I was 3 yrs older than my husband. All the rental car companies in the VA area, was concerned about was that people who rent out their cars, meet their age requirement, AND have good driving records. I met the age requirement and accepted responsibilty of the car if it got damaged while in use, on my husband's behalf. The rental car company accepted the car contact under my name, because my husband wasn't of age, according to their rental car age requirements. My husband was quite upset about the whole thing, due to the fact that he was military, and they still refused him. Isn't that something? Since we both were going down to visit his grandmother's funeral, in SC, I told him to put the car under my name, and will allow him to drive the car, as we planned. Because I love and respect my husband, as my best friend, I was willing to place the responsiblity under my name, for him ..so that he can have a rental car to use, and make our trip to the family funeral. If it wasn't for me, his situation would not have been possible. I knew he would have canceled his plans to get a rental car and go down to visit, because I know he won't not ask anyone to do this for him as a favor. I told him I would, and really did not worry about whether if the car got wrecked or not. I let my husband do all the driving, because he insisted. I let him. During the whole driving trip, I slept . .because I was pregnant and near my due date. When we got back from our trip, I gave birth to our first son, Chance the following day. I am not sure if ALL rental car companies have an age requirement, cause some might be different, especially in different states. I don't really know for sure. But, I would check first, to find out. Check all of them out, in your area, and see which one will accept you, at age 19. If not, look into asking someone who qualifies the age requirement, to co-sign for you to get the rental car, on your behalf. Most car rental companies have age requirements (usually 25 and older or sometimes, 21 and older), because they believe that, at that age, the person is a mature enough to be financially responsible for the car, if you damage it while using it. Hope this helps. Good luck with your interview!

To avoid heavy car traffic, what time would you return to New York from North Carolina on Labor Day?
Question:
We are trying to miss heavy traffic from everyone that is traveling across the country on Labor Day Weekend. That's why we are traveling to Raleigh, North Carolina from Long Island, New York on Saturday morning (2-3AM). What time would you suggest traveling back on Labor Day Monday? Figure it takes about 9-10 hours of travel. Would you suggest more early morning (7AM) or afternoon (2PM)?

Answer:
i live in North Carolina and travel to NJ and back alot. I try to leave no later than 7am (usually 6 am) both ways- sometimes i hit traffic (especially when there is a accident) and other times it is a easy commute. I rather drive during day-light hours than do contend with it getting dark.

How to get a motorcycle license in Raleigh, North Carolina?
Question:
I just want to operate a 149cc scooter. I don't think I'm allowed to buy one without a motorcycle endorsement. I never learned how to drive a car because I grew up riding public transit. I'm not interested in learning how to drive a car because it's too expensive and I'm trying to live within my means. I know I'm allowed to legally operate a 49cc moped without a license but I don't want to be that guy on the road with a line of angry cagers behind him. (And there's no way I'm riding a restricted 49cc engine on public roads because that just doesn't seem safe to me.) I have a Class C learner's permit but I can't take the driving test because I just don't feel comfortable driving those cars. (I can only get about 30 minutes practice a week.) I contacted the DMV. They said I need take this up with law enforcement. I don't know what that means. I think I know what that means and if it means what I think it means then it's another dead end. Some local motorcycle organizations have been trying to get the law changed but the politicians won't budge. I've written the governor's office and state representatives but I don't expect much to come of that. I want to be licensed. I want to be insured. I want to take the MSF course. I'm trying to be legal but the law is making it really hard. Is there anyway around all this??? NCDOT/DMV Moped Info: "You must be age 16 or older to operate a moped on North Carolina highways or public vehicular areas. A driver license is not required, and the moped does not have to be registered, inspected or covered by liability insurance. A motorcycle safety helmet is required by law when operating a moped on North Carolina highways. A moped cannot have a motor of more than 50 cubic centimeters, an external shifting device or have the capability of exceeding 30 miles per hour on a level surface." NCDOT/DMV Info (Endorsement): "To obtain a motorcycle endorsement you must possess a full provisional license, a regular or commercial license." I always wear a full face helmet, armored jacket, protective pants and boots. I guess all the states with Class M and Class L licenses must be lacking when it comes to common sense. (Sorry but this has me heated.) Driving a car just ain't the same as operating a motorcycle. http://www.ncleg.net/EnactedLegislation/Statutes/HTML /ByChapter/Chapter_20.html

Answer:
well common sense tells you that you gotta have a license first and then get the motorcycle endorsement, no way to get around it, if you don't feel comfortable ina car then how can you feel comfortable on a scooter when you have no protection other than a helmet, i understand its cheaper for a scooter than a car but its no way to get around it, gotta get the license first and then put the endorsement on it
