Questions Related to high, point cars

Provided By Y! Answers

What's really the point of high speed for cars?
Question:
I'm not talking about racing cars, but ordinary cars you have, your parents and relatives. I don't really know why..

Answer:
Revenue Enhancement. Taxes and fees and miscellaneous charges are helpful for funding your local police department as well as CHP. They are usually sufficiently familiar with the areas where people speed and can pick 'em off and write up nice expensive tickets for it, especially for speeding over 85mph. The police would not be able to obtain this extra Revenue Enhancement stream if cars were ECU computer limited to 65mph. Or perhaps limited based on GPS position to the appropriate state/local/residential limit... cross border to Montana and you can go 75mph on highway, go off highway into residential and you are limited to 25mph.

what is the point in high performance cars to the general public?
Question:
why would anyone buy a high performance car when you can't legally drive them any faster than a normal car? i don't see the point myself, however i am interested to hear your opinions. i don't drive myself however i have tried to learn in the past and i know the driving laws. you cannot legally drive any faster than 70mph in the UK and i believe the speed limit is even less in the USA.

Answer:
two reasons 1.enjoyment , obviously. top speed isnt everything; handling, acceleration, and braking are all better in sports cars 2. Better cars for everyone (including economy) high performance cars and the research put into them push the boundaries of what is possible for everyday cars. Since they must be safe a lot of advancements in safety have been made by race and high performance cars. They must be efficient, wind tunnel testing to find drag coefficients would not be as widely used if not used first for high performance cars, also event though it seems counterintuitive to a layperson high performance /race cars must be fuel efficient, not only for increasing Cafe standards but also so that they are able to go longer distances without needing to refuel which is good for racing. Porsche recently designed a car that will go into production and racing soon that can reach 198 mph 0-60 in 3 sec and can achieve >70 mpg ( Porsche 918)and there are many other sports cars that get ~30 mpg. The more one knows about cars the more it becomes apparent that performance cars are needed to push the envelope of what is possible in everyday cars, and viewing the history of automobiles we can see that most of the advancements were made for and by performance car builders. If you live in the UK and you want to go fast, go to a track day or the the Isle of Man no speed limit, and in the US go out west, miles of unpatrolled roads and some atates dont really have speed limits, at least the last ime I was out there they didnt.

why is it that petrol boils at high boiling point but still can ignite our cars engine ?
Question:
if you know the answer please answer it sincerely , please don't talk rubbish.....

Answer:
Boiling point is a physical property. When gasoline (petrol) ignites it reacts with oxygen. This chemical reaction gives off heat, which runs the car. Coal is a solid, but burn it and you can run a steam engine (old style trains, ships). Hope this isn't rubbish!

I live in High Point NC. Where can I buy plastic model cars. I am 34 and I will be putting them together.?

Answer:
I wasn't aware that Michael's had models. Personally I HATE large chains, their customer service tends to be less than impressive. I really prefer Mom & Pop stores, though I DID use HobbyTown USA for a few years. However, a quick check of the IPMS's (International Plastic Modellers Society) website gave me these stores near you: K/C Hobby 336-434-3482 10948 N Main St Ste G Archdale, NC 27263 Hobbytown USA (336) 373-1021 1410 Westover Ter, #100b Greensboro, NC 27408 GOOD LUCK.

If the ability to maneuver at high speed is the point of racing, aren't IRL cars faster?

Answer:
Yes, the cars in IRL are faster. I agree with all the other answers above me. I saw the IRL practicing at Texas a few years back when I went to a Craftsman truck race and they were flying. Besides a NHRA dragster at 330mph the Irl cars are the fastest thing I have ever witnessed. Before you knew it they were leaving turn 2 and you blinked once and they were at the start/finish line again.

There is a roller coaster with a first hill that is 318 feet high. This hill takes the cars up to a point wher?
Question:
There is a roller coaster with a first hill that is 318 feet high. This hill takes the cars up to a point where gravity will provide the coaster with the speed it needs to get the ride going. If we were to estimate the horizontal distance for this hill as 306 ft., could you find the slope of the line? To answer this question, you need to remember that the slope of a line is defined as the "rise over the run". Write your answer as a fraction

Answer:
slope = 318/306 = 1.03921569

What is the point of having cars that can reach more than 100 MPH?
Question:
A lot of cars that I have sen show that the MPH can go up to 120 or more. Yet there's no roads where that speed limit is even permitted. So why do they make cars with the MPH so high? I have seen cars in Mexico that say it goes up to 200. WHy don't they make cars reach only 100. I mean my Honda civic goes up to 130 and the fastest I have gone on it is 85 MPH.

Answer:
Because they can, the speed limit and the capabilities of a car have nothing in common for the most part, it depends on the driver. If you drive on private property there are no laws in relation to driving. Furthermore, don't assume everyone drives the speed limit, it's called freedom. Whooo hoooo. I've driven in the snow while being chased by police at 138 mph, i didn't give a rat's ass what my speedometer limit was.. it's my biz, the other point is if you limit a car's engine, it would be unsafe, it's not about speed as much as it is about power. Learn the art of driving and driving safely not what the "rules" are. The rules won't protect you when someone is drunk or rear ends you and you can't avoid them because your car does not have the torque to get out of the way and save your life.

Does a car consume more fuel if the AC is at high point than at its lowest?
Question:
If it is at its lowest does the car AC consume less petrol than if it is higher?

Answer:
For most cars, the AC runs full blast all the time it is on. the temperature control just mixes hot air from the heater with the cold air from the AC. Some cars have an actual temperature control that turns the AC off and on to control the temperature in the cabin. Which type do you have? If the temperature control is set in actual degrees, then the latter, and the AC will use less gas the higher the temperature is set. If the first type, it is always running, and always uses the same amount of gas, regardless of the control setting.
