Fun places to take 2-3 yr old in Yonkers,NY or Bronx?
Question:
I have a 2 and 3 year old. Im looking to bring them somewhere new, do something they haven't done. I don't own a car, so public transportation is my way around. Cab or bus etc. Any suggestions? I already know the bronx zoo comes to mind, but does anyone know any other places?

Answer:
Hi! What day of the week are you planning for? If the weekend, take them to Wavehill. I'm sure they will like it. http://www.wavehill.org To get to there you can take the Hudson Line, the A/1 train and quite a few buses.

What movie(s) did the songs from WALLE come from?
Question:
The first song went something like this: Out there, there's a town outside of Yonkers, Listen Barnaby.... and the second one: It only takes a moment to be loved a whole life long..... Third: Put on your Sunday clothes, there's lots of world out there, we'll ride in one of those new horse-driven cars... I'm assuming they come either from an old 40's film or were written specifically for WALLE. Does anyone know for sure?

Answer:
they are all from Hello Dolly. "The songs "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" and "It Only Takes a Moment" from Hello Dolly! were used because they inspired the symbolism of WALL-E wanting to hold hands with EVE." from wiki

How can I handle this situation?
Question:
Yesterday, my husband decided to go to yonkers new casino spot on a bus trip. He mentioned last week that a friend of his is involved with these weekly trips. He did not mention that he wanted to go or ask me if I was interested. I work full time and right now he is not working because of a car accident. I am still pissed off because it is selfish, inconsiderate and irresponsible. I understand that he is a grown man, but why would you not say anything? Because you know I would be like oh you want to have fun and I'm the only one working right now. More than likely I wouldn't be able to go because I can't call out sick right now because of my recent promotion. He is continuing to talk to me like nothing ever happened. SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY!!!

Answer:
That is a tough situation. You are being made to feel alienated by the very person whose job it is is to see that you are wanted and loved. It is possible that he is simply oblivious. Perhaps he thought you wouldn't be interested. My my own experience as a male, if I want to do something that is an activity that I am used to doing by myself or with a buddy, I find myself assuming that my wife wouldn't be interested. In other words, I am fantasizing that she is not bothered. I don't want to "check in" with her because on some level I don't want to hear her say "I'd love to come!" MY job in that situation is to either be cool with letting her come along, OR explain to her why it's important that I go by myself or with my friend. I'm sure you'd understand this as I am sure there are things you prefer to do alone or with your mates. That being said, he is being inconsiderate whether he "meant to" or not. He needs to know this . In my opinion it is IMPERATIVE that you have this discussion with him Express it in terms of how you are feeling (rather than taking an accusatory position). Make it a conversation rather than a blow up. It will uncomfortable initially but rewarding ultimately. Naturally, you know your husband, I don't. If he has a temper you may want to try a different approach. Some how, he has to know that you are feeling badly about this situation. Otherwise, this incident will fade in the moment, but be "banked" are resentment. .

I got a seatbelt ticket in New York while visiting? How do I pay it? - I lost the ticket itself?
Question:
I couldn't find the ticket itself while vising NYC, I got pulled over and they only gave me a seatbelt ticket (why did they pull me over? no reason...they stopped me for 30 minutes trying to find something to pin on me..., they even checked the VIN of the car...) How do I pay it? I don't have any info, like the Ticket #... Details: I got the ticket in Yonkers, NY

Answer:
Those cops were just @ss holes for doing that. Iv never even herd of Yonkers, but call 914-377-7900 (that is the non-emergency number to the Yonkers PD) and give them your name, license number, plate number, ext and they should have it in the computer.

some serious legal advice for one serious issue?
Question:
consider the hypothetical story: if i had a friend who's cousin's dad went on a date with a girl in the yonkers area of new york in the summer of 1962. if apparently they got drunk and if he strangled her while they were having rough sex in his car. and if he drove her body upstate and covered it in a wooded area with leaves and a sheet of particle wood. if he told me this while we were playing a game of pool in 2006 and he was drinking, but i thought it is credible, because...i will not go into specifics but i thought i had reason to believe that i may have located her remains. should i call police, and could he get charged in that situation?

Answer:
Yes, Please tell the local law enforcement authorities. Go to their office and ask to speak with someone in the investigation or detective division. Give them the information as you know it and show them what you can to help them. The victim had a family. They need your help also.

false traffic ticket?
Question:
Earlier on today i was driving on the 55 mph highway when a yonkers police officer began to follw me for around three minutes. Finally he pulls over and stands next to my car window and he says "what were you thinking? I said i dont know (even though i didnt know what he was talking about. Anyway then asked me are you a new driver and i replied yes ser. This is when his whole attitude changed he demanded my license and registration but did tell me what for anyway he goes to his car comes back with a ticket and says that i was speeding and if i want to plead guilty do this that. My question is should i plead not guilty. The records could show that there was a lot of road work going on the highway which mad the flow of traffic dense where it would have many vehicles nearly impossible to go 83 mph(this the speed he said i was going with the radar even though there was a car right next to me so he must have radars that can skip vehicles.). Also it was siant patricks day meaning more cars I believe the reason he pulled me over was because i was a younger driver and around here younger drivers get blamed for everthing so he came up with a random number and said i was doing that on the highway which i wasnt So should i fight the case and say that the ticket was false and it was his own prejudices which lead to me recieving a speeding ticket Oww and this my first ticket Ihave been driving for a month and half To the person that said the judge should believe a police over a new driver just show that the judge is prejudice as well. Dont tell me to slow down because i wasnt speeding. An second I thought this was the United States? Arent you suppose to proven guilty in the court of law? your not suppose to already guilty and have to prove innocents he has no proof that i was going at that speed at all its just bulland my parents insurance has to go up because asshole didnt lik me SORRY ABOUT THE GRAMMER BUT YOU GUYS ARENT UNDERSTANDING WHAT IM SAYING I WAS NOT SPEEDING

Answer:
Let's see... who is the judge going to believe? A police officer that routinely testifies in court, knows what evidence is required, and is sworn to uphold the law, or someone who has been driving for less than two months and has nothing to support the fact that he was driving the speed limit other than broad generalizations? Plead guilty and pay the ticket, or contest it and pay the ticket plus court costs and attorney's fees. And slow down. EDIT TO ADD: Judges are in a position where they have to weigh the credibility of witnesses and determine who is telling the truth and who is lying. A police officer with training, experience, and technology (radar) has a lot of credibility. A kid who just got his driver's license and already seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder does not. You are innocent until proven guilty, but the police officer's testimony goes a LONG way in providing that proof. PS: If you really want to improve your chances with the judge, just tell him "that asshole" (the police officer) didn't like you, and that's why you got the ticket.

finally met a good looking enough guy to date who i'm super-attracted to but he talks too much!?
Question:
So after meeting this guy who was way too young for me who's still living with his parents and could only see me for sex but still wanted me to say we were seeing each other, I finally meet this other guy off craigslist who's been calling me for weeks now after hardly ever meeting anyone. I can see now why he's never successful! Great-looking guy, relatively young, in his 30s lives in Manhattan, but talks too much! Omg this guy would every once in a while ask a question - I would start to answer, then he would cut me off and start to talk AGAIN. He's from Brooklyn and I had to keep explaining where I lived, that I live above the 1 train line at the cusp of Riverdale in the Bronx and Yonkers. I don't know, but even the most non-worldly New Yorker should know this stuff. I know a little more than most since I arrange travel for a car service, but COME ON! The talking this bothered me so much -what should I do guys? I haven't dated in so long, finally someone comes along who is decent, I'm attracted to him, he didn't come-on to me at all, seems like he really wants to date, but is a bit too narcissistic - should I give him a chance, or if he calls, just not return them?

Answer:
OK slly u just told heaps of people where u live..LOLOLOL give the guy a chance... hes probably just nervous and talks too much cause hes nervous... not returning calls is just plain old nasty sorry but it is

Will I get paid if I don't go to work during Hurricane Irene (in Queens in a Zone A section)?
Question:
No word yet on whether they're still expecting me to go to work. I work in Long Island City on a block that has an inlet of the East River that flows through and ends right by my job site's parking lot. It is considered Zone A for this Hurricane Irene that is supposed to be coming up to New York late Saturday all through Sunday. My manager thinks she can get me to come to work (and I'm the only one who works Sundays) if they get me a car service to and from work. Listen - in a hurricane - is travelling from up in the hills of Yonkers/Riverdale portion of the Bronx down to less than .5 miles from the east river going to do me any good? Things flying everywhere as we're driving to work and back is not a good idea, nor the very flimsy building that I'll be sitting in. Can I still get paid even if they say you gotta come to work and I don't? This is nuts. Hello! New York declared a state of emergency. There should be some law on that.

Answer:
Under the circumstances of a natural disaster I don't think anyone can be forced to work, but I don't think that the employer can be forced to pay wages that weren't earned regardless of the circumstances. There are legal precedents for both parties and they are in place to protect both parties. You don't have to go to work under the duress of life and limb. But the employer does not have to pay you for work that was not performed.
