Traveling from New York City to Oswego?
Question:
How can a person travel from NY to Oswego if you don't have a car? I there a bus or train? If you can't get there by bus or train, how close can you get by those means?

Answer:
My friend, Oswego is about 50 miles (80 km) north of Syracuse, on the shore of Lake Ontario. The only way to get there from the Big Apple is by taking either Amtrak or Greyhound to Syracuse and then take a taxi of local bus from Syracuse to Oswego. Good luck Native New Yorker

SUNY Oswego weather transportation question.?
Question:
I'm looking into going to SUNY Oswego after I finish high school. I'm going into my senior year and boy is my head buzzing! My one concern is being able to be home for Christmas and New Years. I live in the Catskill-Windham area and the trip will be pretty lengthy. I'm not as concerned about that as I am about the weather. With all of the snow in Oswego, will I be able to travel home safely, either by car or by train?

Answer:
The thing about towns that are in "big snow" areas, like Oswego and others on the Great Lakes, is that those towns get REALLY good at snow removal. Snows that might shut down NYC for days won't even close schools in Oswego. They do a great job of clearing the roads, because they have to. Keep in mind as well, snow is relative. You live near Windham. To me, you get a TON of snow... compared to where I live. I'd be worried about driving from here to Windham! If you can handle the snow of Windham, you likely can do the drive from Oswego to Windham. And keep in mind that even if Oswego did get snow around Christmas, for most of the towns on your drive, that's pretty early in the season to get any truly significant snowfall. Not that it can't happen, but it's kind of rare. Oswego itself might get lake effect snow, but the towns beyond it probably stay pretty dry of significant snowfall until a bit into January. But why not talk to admissions at Oswego? See if they can put you in touch with a student from your part of NY State, and you can ask them questions about both the school and the travel home.

Should i go away to college?
Question:
Im a senior on longisland and idk what to do. My main choice was to go to suffolk comunity college for 1 year than transfer to a university. But i want to go away next year, all of my friends are and i dont wanna be the one loser who stays home . And plus im getting sick of being in my house i wanna expirience college like my sister is right now. She goes to oswego upstate. Also a reason im skeptical about going is because i just got a new car this summer, and what a waste it would be to be driven for a year and then sit in the driveway.

Answer:
No. Right now it's a waste of money and resources. I'd suggest you go to the community college and take something like medical technology. You'll have a job in two years. Seriously, I wish I'd done that instead of going off to the Ivy League.

Optima Yellow Top Battery revival?
Question:
Hi Yahoo Community, I have a simple question, I am right now living in the Central New York Region in the Oswego/Syracuse area. I have owned this battery for maybe less than 5 years and now all of a sudden it is just getting weaker and weaker until it died. Is it possible that it could be because of the really cold nights or just its age. And now I cant start the car anymore. Could I recharge it with a trickle charger system or just get a new battery? Thanks yahoo community.

Answer:
it is both the battery getting older and the cold nites in ny if iwas u i would get a new battery but thats me
