Is it ilegal to work on cars at home?
Question:
I was working on a friends car in my driveway. Nothing major just changing the oil. Which I return to autozone where I buy it from. The officer told me I cannot work on cars for a profit. Which I do not. I fix my own cars, friends cars and that's it. For free. He said someone complained about noise, it was 3pm at the time the cops came. I told him I'm not doing anything ilegal and invited him into my garage but he didn't want to come in. I live in oceanside new york. As far as I know you can make all the noise you want while there is still daylight and before 9pm. If anyone can help me with this id appreciate it. Thank you

Would putting occupancy limit orders into effect be a deterrent towards illegal aliens?
Question:
As said on here by supporters of illegal aliens, they can afford these things because many families share housing. If cities and towns start putting a limit on how many are allowed in a household, will this help stop some of the illegals from coming when they have no place to stay? What is your opinion? XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX City gets ready for new occupancy limit ordinance O'side residents can start filing complaints on Feb. 5 By PAUL SISSON - psisson@nctimes.com January 8, 2010 Renters and landlords are now on notice: On Feb. 5, a pair of new ordinances will take effect in Oceanside that limit the number of adults living in a single-family home. The Oceanside City Council passed the second reading of the ordinances at its regular meeting Wednesday. David Manley, manager of the city's Neighborhood Services Department, said that city code enforcement officers will begin taking complaints that could come flooding in on the first Friday in February. In debating and passing the ordinances, City Council members told the public that they have received an increasing number of complaints from property owners that landlords are cramming too many renters into homes designed for just one family. That trend, council members have said, often leads to residential streets crammed with cars and a degraded quality of life for homeowners who actually live in their residences rather than renting them out. One ordinance passed by the council requires a special "high occupancy permit" for homes where more than six adults live. The city would issue the permit only if the property's owner could prove that the property has enough space to park one car for each resident. The second ordinance forbids owners from issuing more than two leases to renters living in a single-family home. Both ordinances exempt group homes for disabled residents, which are allowed by federal law. Manley said the city's Code Enforcement Department will enforce the new ordinances only if a resident files a formal complaint. He said that those who complain will need to testify that they have observed more than six adults living in a single-family residence for at least 30 days or that they have personal knowledge of more than two leases. Some Oceanside residents, such as Lupe Gonzales, who lives in the city's "back gate" neighborhood, said last week they are more than ready to file a complaint. Gonzales, who lives with her family in a duplex off Vandegrift Boulevard, said there is a home on her street that has roughly 17 people living inside. "This is a single-family area, but there are cars coming and going and parking all over the place like it's an apartment complex or something," Gonzales said. She added that she and her neighbors are worried about the effect of so many people living in a home with an electrical connection and sewer connection designed for only one family. "We're worried about not just the adults living there, but the kids and their safety, too," she said. Manley said the city has often received calls about overcrowding in single-family homes, but has never had a specific ordinance that allows code enforcement officers to open a case based only on too many people living in a home. He said that if a resident complains about unpermitted additions or garage conversions, code enforcement gets involved. However, if a caller has complained in the past simply about overcrowding, those calls have not turned into actionable cases. "We just haven't had the resources to deal with that directly," Manley said. He said he did not know what to expect when Feb. 5 arrives. "We'll just have to wait and see what happens," Manley said. Answer:
I lived in what, at one time was a nice apartment complex. I had to get out as they rented the apartment next to me to a couple of Mexicans. During the first week we noticed 19 different people going in and out. Old cars that hadn't been inspected for 2 years were towed to the complex and parked right in the front door. Curse fights and maharache music went on at all hours of the night and day. Young men covered in Tattoos slept all day and prowled all night. It got so I was afraid to be out after dark. I moved and less than 6 weeks later at 3 in the afternoon, a woman was murdered because she refused to allow a man to "help" her carry in her groceries. She was afraid it was just RUSE TO GET IN HER APARTMENT AND SHE WAS APPARENTLY RIGHT. HE WAS CAUGHT THAT SAME DAY. Yes, there should be limits. I know of 3 families living in a house in a nice area of Yukon, OK and the power is not even on in the house. I wonder if they even have water.

Dream Act students have pleaded guilty to stealing about $300,000 worth of goods will this hurt their chances?

William Cruz Pena, 26, Maria Delaluz Oros, 45, Benita Rubio, 47, and Heriberto Tolentino, 42, will serve two-year prison terms, said Deputy District Attorney Anna Winn. Diana Palazios, 37, will be sentenced to a full year in county jail, the prosecutor said. The five had previously pleaded not guilty. The shoplifters, all Mexican nationals who lived in San Marcos, were arrested Jan. 5 after being pulled over in Encinitas in two cars packed with an estimated $6,000 worth of clothes and accessories from a Ross clothing store. Due to the size of the load, Sgt. Tom Poulin said, they “could barely sit in the backseat of their cars.” The women also had more items stuffed under their shirts and in their bras, he said. The retail larceny spree is believed to have gone on for at lest two years, with the bandits striking up to several times per week and getting away with roughly $150,000 worth of goods annually. The thefts began last May at a Ross store in Santee Town Center. An attempted theft at the same location several weeks later was interrupted when a security guard sent the shoplifters fleeing, Poulin said, but later that evening, the loss prevention officer’s vehicle was found vandalized in the store parking lot. “All four tires had been slashed, and a chemical substance poured on the exterior of the car,'' he said. Similar vehicle vandalism crimes also occurred on six other occasions when burglars were caught in the act, according to investigators. Authorities say the thieves were “brazen,” stuffing merchandise under their clothing, grabbing purses and filling them with other shoplifted goods and using tools they carried with them to cut off anti-theft alarm triggers. The shoplifters usually struck during the midweek, then sold the loot on the street and at a regular weekend swap meet in Oceanside, where they worked several sales booths and used a mobile miniature storage unit to store the stolen goods, Poulin said. After the arrests, detectives served search warrants at two locations in North County. A storage box at the Oceanside Swap Meet grounds was found fully loaded with stolen merchandise from Ross stores and even more valuables were recovered from a house on Johnston Lane in San Marcos. Additionally, a handwritten list of license plate numbers, which appear to be those of Ross employees, was found among the suspects’ property. Palazios, Rubio and Tolentino will be sentenced March 18 by Vista Judge Kimberlee Lagotta, while Oros is scheduled for sentencing March 22 and Cruz Peña on May 3. http://santee.patch.com/articles/illegal-immigrants-change- pleas-to-guilty-in-shoplifting-ring

I think life for me anyway has been the pursuit of where i am... so wtf do i do now? Any Intellectuals?
Question:
Once you have fulfilled all minimal requirements...what then... What is life all about... I have money, time and freedom... I could travel but i sit here... I restored my car, I love my car I dont want a new one... I have a house to live in I don't want to own because I dont know where I want to end up... I have no real interest... I am educated Chapman University... I grew up in a different world then most so I may not understand some of the simply fundamentals that are taught throughout growing up. I feel like I ran to 24 and now what? This question is not for young people... people that have lived to see their dreams come true are the only ones that I think are able to answer this... I know common sense is no longer so common. I have traveled all over a lot more then most... I live near the beach in Oceanside ca Just what else is there?

Answer:
Sounds like you need to shake up your life a little bit, start working on the major requirements for a change. Focus on improving what you're lacking or weakest at. I make this answer vague because everybody has different voids in life that only they can address. You portray yourself as someone who already knows his limitations, improve whatever you can. To answer the question you posed "what else is there? How about family. The challenges presented by maintaining a healthy family truly reflect a persons integrity.

Better for a camping road trip: Arizona, Utah, and Colorado... or Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia?
Question:
A friend and I will be taking a long camping road trip next month and going on one of those two excursions. They seem like they'd be quite different. The AZ/UT/CO route would probably involve seeing the grand canyon in Arizona, the canyonlands area of southeastern Utah (Arches National Park, etc), and then the mountains of Colorado. On the other hand, the OR/WA/BC route would involve a lot of forested areas, some national parks like Crater Lake, some oceanside stuff, etc. We're torn between the two, as the AZ/UT/CO route would be more new to us, but it is going to be August and we're wondering if roasting in our car or tent in those areas might take a lot of fun out of it (no RV with A/C for us!). Which would you choose?

Answer:
Well, lets see. The desert that is Utah and Arizona, and that mountain they call the rockies *cha* OR... You can.... travel, ...God's country. *wink* Choosing either, The Pacific Coast Highway, on the most western side of Oregon or right thru Three Sisters, Doing I-5 Then hit'n that amazing ole' hill we like to call Louwala-Clough (Mount St. Helens) After you finish that journey, another 2, two and a half hours north, the international geologic community has determined that Mt Rainier is the world's 16th most dangerous volcano. (elev. 14,410 feet) Mount Rainier National Park is riddled with Old growth forest. Over 91 thousand acres. As defined, Old growth is trees over 250 years old. Some of these Douglas Fir's and Western Hemlocks have been around for over a thousand years. Of course some of the younger trees also contribute to the lavish tree line. Western Red Cedar, Pacific Silver Fir, and Ponderosa Pine all decorate and create surreal Timberland. ..and the 4 legged creatures, the Elk, Deer, Squirrel, and Coyotes. All needing each other to sustain life. Nearly 800 plant species. Over 100 non-native plants. There's 54 Mammals, 126 Birds and 17 Amphibian or Reptiles that call this Park home. The Nisqually tribe has been granted access to the Park, in order to gather plants, traditionally used in their ancestral Rituals, and medicine. Of the plants being harvested: bear grass, blueberries, cascara, cranberry, devils club, maidenhair fern, wild gooseberry, salmonberry, serviceberry, strawberry, tiger lily, princes pine, spruce, cedar, white pine and western yew. The Park has also presented that when "vision quests" and other traditional journeys are needed, that the Park will do its best to keep tourists out. Native lore says that (Mt.) Tahoma is the dueling sister of (Mt.) St. Helens. ..and that they forever are fighting for the love of (Mt.) Adams. Once you catch your breath beyond the vertigo events of Mt Rainer, skip on up to the very groovy metropolitan city of Seattle, its time to feast your hearts desire. Who cares if its the middle of the night. It's open. Then, dance your beHIND off, at the very grooviest clubs west of the Vegas strip. Now its time to jump a ferry, circle the Peninsula, get yourself over to the Lake Quinault Lodge, and rest like you've never rested. THEN.... find your way to the Sol duc Hot Springs (clothing optional area of course) You'll be awed as you find yourself in the Worlds ONLY temperate rain forest. The canopy of trees, is so dense, its wet, no matter how blue the sky. The Douglas Fir, White and Red Cedar tree's are the laregest on the ENTIRE Globe... Its freaken heaven... Then of course you'll grab your passport, head the hour and a half up to Port Angeles, and grab the quick ferry ride thru the Strait of Juan de Fuca. And ya'll be oot and a'boot to Victoria British Columbia, before ya know it, eh?.. =)

Walmart Tire center -- Only puts in 35 psi in ALL tires?
Question:
I like to buy my tires from Walmart, only because they are a good value, and they offer a good road hazard program, and they are everywhere across the U.S.. So you can get service for your vehicle, shop for groceries, and get gas at some supercenters on your cross country trip. But their practice of tire inflation just seems ignorant to me, and I have encountered it at multiple Walmarts in Oceanside, California, as well as Pensacola, Florida. I purchased 4 new wrangler A/T load range ( cant remember) with a COLD tire pressure of 50 psi. They said they couldn't let it leave the store with no more than 35 psi, because that was what is on the door sticker!!! Ok no big deal its only 15 pounds low on air, I can get them filled at the nearest gas station. But when I bought 2 new Uniroyal Liberator A/T with a load range E, COLD tire pressure 80 psi, for my suburban, in Pensacola, they again only put in 35psi, so wife drove them home 8 miles, when they were 45 psi low on air. What kind of sense does this make. The sticker on the door, is for factory tires. That is tires, the manufacturing facility put on the vehicle when it was brand new rolling off the assembly line. I am not buying factory tires. I am purchasing aftermarket tires. Why don't the tire techs/management have any common sense about letting tires leave the premises under inflated, and possibly ruining the tire or causing an accident? Especially for someone that doesn't pay attention or doesn't know anything about simple car maintenance? How am I VERY confused? My tires inflation is from 0 to 80 psi. These tires did not come from the factory. So if I run the recommended door sticker value of 35 psi, the tire runs flat with the sidewall bulging on the ground. That make no sense. If you towed a trailer at 35 psi with these tires the rim would touch the ground. I think most of you so called ASE Techs are confused. These are pretty much stock tires. I didn't deviate from the same size of the recommended sized tire, the only thing I did was buy a Load range E tire. Only because I haul alot of passengers, or frequently trailer cross country. So according to what everybody says here, all the cars and trucks on the road today, all have 35 psi in them? There is no way that is true.

Answer:
You are VERY confused, the numbers on the sidewall refer to the maximum the tire is capable of being inflated, this is not the recommended pressure for your vehicle. The recommended tire pressure is determined by the vehicle manufacturer and is related mainly to the vehicles weight. The manufacturers recommended pressure is found on a sticker in the glove box, door post or inside the fuel filler door. Running an overinflated tire is nearly as bad as under inflated, your tire will bounce, not keeping proper contact with the road, the footprint of the tire will be smaller than at optimal pressure leaving you open to loss of traction in an emergency situation.

Is it dumb to move to California? Am I setting myself up for disaster?
Question:
Okay so here is my situation... I am 23 and about to graduate from college in 3 weeks with a bachelor's degree in Communications, Spanish and Bilingual Journalism. I have wanted to move to California since I was about 15 but never ended up going away for undergrad. So now I have no strings attached and really nothing holding me back, except maybe my boyfriend. But I have lived in the same 20 mile radius since I was 3 years old and I desperately want a change of scenery. I want to discover something new and challenge myself, I mean we only live once right? I visited SoCal for a week this summer and absolutely fell in love! So here is my plan...I'm thinking of moving there in the next few months. I have a place I can stay (with my aunt in Orange County) until I get everything situated and get my feet on the ground. I want to find a job within the first 4 months that I am there. Then save up some money and get my own place. Meanwhile study for the GMAT and gain my California residency that way I can apply for a state school and join an MBA program part-time while working full-time. I'm thinking UCI (University of California Irvine) but I am definitely very flexible with my grad school options. Here is the problem... I am already about $100,000 in debt from undergrad loans and I have no job lined up and a very limited savings that won't go far. Plus California is VERY expensive. I am not sure if it is the wisest thing for a recent college grad, with little work experience, to do. Our economy is so tough right now too. Plus I probably won't be able to get a car until I either save up enough money after I land a job or get grad school loans. I have a car right now but there's no way it would make it to California. I'd probably end up selling it for a measly $2,000. Another issue is that I really don't know anyone in Cali. I won't have any friends or family there and I am worried it could be really lonely and difficult. I have my aunt (not biologically just a really good friend of my mom's) and my boyfriend's best friend and his wife live in Oceanside not too far away. Here is some background information... I lived in Spain for 5 months almost 2 years ago but for some reason I am so much more nervous/worried/scared about this than I was leaving the country. It was a study abroad program and I didn't really have to worry about working, saving money, finding a place to stay, applying for grad school and it was temporary so I think that made it easier. But if I could do that than I can do this, right? Here is my real question...Is any of this realistic or too far fetched? Has anyone ever done something like this? I am looking for some good advice. Thanks in advance! I would be moving from Chicago suburbs. I would be moving from Chicago suburbs.

active duty Marine going to be homeless?
Question:
greetings. I recieved my 5 day letter today. I am being seperated for using marijuana on active duty. Other than honorable discharge. Please spare me the lectures, I regret it greatly.... I am not unintelligent at all, have a great work ethic, and am not on drugs. I own a car but I am going to have to junk it. I am currently in the Oceanside CA area in southern california. I plan on getting two jobs as soon as I get out and working around the clock. Hours mean nothing to me. I have worked 70 hours a week for 2 years now so it will be nothing new. But I do not know where I am going to live or sleep while I am not working. I've considered finding a 24 hour gym to shower at, but the idea of hiding somewhere outdoors to sleep is disheartening to say the least, though I am prepared to do so if necessary. Does anyone have any experience with this? I expect to be homeless for two months, living very frugal while saving ALL my combined wages. Any advice is appreciated Not looking for handouts or help from anyone, just trying to figure out a place to place my personal belongings while i work. I know shelters fill up and I plan on working at night as well anyways. i appreciate all the responses i have recieved!! ^_^

Answer:
friends or family (distant cousins) you can stay with? Get a tent and other camping equipment and camp out. Have you ever seen the movie "Where the Heart Is"? Natalie Portman lives in Walmart for 2 months or so.
