Questions Related to niagara, falls cars

Provided By Y! Answers

We three people want to travel from New York to Niagara Falls, which is the cheapest transportation?
Question:
If I rent a car, which company is better? So I can return the car around Niagara Falls after I get there. If I use public tranportation, which one is better?

Answer:
Public transportation: Amtrak will be the fastest. Greyhound is okay, the cheapest but, it's the least comfortable ride. Travel agencies have package deals with luxury coach buses, which are very nice. Look for package deals at your local travel agency! You might get a nice package deal with transport and hotel included in one price.

Is it needed to buy a four-wheel drive car in Niagara Falls area for winter driving??????????????
Question:
Is it needed to buy a four-wheel drive car in Niagara Falls area for winter driving? Most time will drive on high ways. I will buy snow tires for sure but wonder if a four-wheel drive car also necessary for winter driving conditions especially with heavy snows in Niagara Falls area.

Answer:
I was born and raised there. Never drove anything more then a two wheel drive vehicle with all season radials. Buy snow tires if you want but it's not as though they are needed at all.

How can commute from New York to Niagara falls?
Question:
Aside from the Greyhound buses, what are other ways that I can get to Niagara falls? Not by car because I am planning to commute.

How convenient is it to visit both sides of the Niagara Falls without a car?
Question:
Also, is there easy access between the rainbow bridge and the Falls on both sides of the border for people traveling without a car? Another question is how much time should I plan to spend on each side?

Answer:
It would be a short, but dangerous swim, but, a pretty long walk! I do not know about buses, etc., but, there are people that cross the bridge on foot. You still need you ID to get into Canada, and a passport to get into the USA. As for time; I've not seen the falls from the American side, so I can't comment on that, but from what I have heard, it really isn't a great view. The Canadian side is spectacular, but, it's really just water falling of a cliff. Some look and go, "huh," and are done in 5 minutes. Others can be there for a long time, but, I would be surprised if anyone spent more than an hour or so looking at the falls themselves. There are beautiful parks all along the river, and there is a greenhouse with butterflies to visit not far away, and so on. And, of course, there all the famous tacky tourist sites in Niagara Falls itself, which you may or may not be interested in. To be honest, while seeing the Falls is pretty cool; I have gone back a few times, once you are there, it really doesn't take long to see before you are ready for something else.

how do car rentals around niagara falls work between the US and Canada?
Question:
we are planning to travel to Toronto-Niagara-NY. Were wondering if renting 1 car from Toronto and leaving it in NY is the best thing to do? and is that allowed?

Answer:
I'm not sure if you can rent a Canadian car and leave it stateside - there are different vehicle regulations in both countries. However, most rental companies shouldn't have a problem with you taking their car(s) across the border. Best to check prior to doing so, to make sure the car(s) are insured and suitable for cross-border travel.

Visiting Niagara Falls in July. What is situation with parking getting to falls by car?
Question:
Really looking forward to going, but worried about getting in and out of Park and cost. Anyone who has been in the area let me know. Thanks. This is on the Canada side. Thanks.

Answer:
Expect to pay anywhere from $10-$30 dollars daily for parking anywhere within walking distance of the Falls. July is peak tourist season. It will be crowded, noisy and spaces fill up quick, especially right around the Falls. If you are staying in a hotel, leave your car there and walk or take the People Mover.
