Question:
Looking to buy a car in the southwest part of Nassau County, New York. I would like a place of good reputation to check it out, and make sure its safe, etc. Please share your experiences, the good and the bad. How do you feel about illegals drinking & driving who cause fatal accidents?
Question:
NASSAU COUNTY (WABC) -- The New York State Police is investigating a deadly car accident which occurred on at approximately 4:52 a.m. on Saturday. It happened on the Wantagh Parkway Northbound about ¼ mile south of Hempstead Turnpike. Oscar E. Ramirez-Lopez, 29, of Brentwood NY, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was driving a Ford-Windstar north bound on the Wantagh Parkway. The Windstar sideswiped a 2000 Kia-Sephia, driven by Ilario Scuteri, 49, of West Islip, NY. The collision killed Scuteri and his passenger, Daniel Cambardella, 46, of North Babylon, NY. Investigators say the Windstar was traveling on the left lane of the roadway and the Kia on the right lane when the Windstar sideswiped the Kia. After being struck by the Windstar the Kia left the roadway, entered the right shoulder and traveled northeast on the shoulder of the roadway until it struck a tree. The Windstar struck the center divider twice before coming to a stop on the middle of the roadway. Ramirez-Lopez, who had been drinking, was arrested and charged with Vehicular Manslaughter 1st Degree, Driving While Intoxicated and Driving With-Out a License. He was processed at the State Police Farmingdale Barracks after being released from the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. He was then transported to Nassau County for arraignment. Scuteri and Cambardella were removed from the scene by the Nassau County Medical Examiner's Office. As a result of this accident investigation the Wantagh Parkway was closed for approximately six hours. Anyone who may have witness the accident or has any information pertaining to this incident is urged to contact Inv. Sean Michael Pagano at (516) 561-8492. All calls will be kept confidential. http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local/long_isl and&id=8104708

Answer:
I hate drunk drivers, all of them. But to be a drunk driver who is in the country illegally is even worse in my book. Why? Because according to their supporters, they are only here for a better life. Does that better life mean taking someone else's life, or ruining a whole family's lives?

Answer:
Not all of these are actual riots, like the Los Angeles riot (that was a REAL riot.) Some of these are mis-named either because of press hype or because of racism on the part of local officials. Most of these are blown way out of proportion by calling them a "riot". For example, I lived near Plainfield, NJ in 1968 and there was a disturbance there, but I wouldn't call it a riot. And you'll notice that there are many incidents that are not called a riot, but also involve mass mob violence in which WHITE people attacked black people. A good example is the town of Rosewood in Florida. In 1923 there was such a horrific event there that the entire black population was either murdered or forced to flee for their lives, and the town was wiped off the face of the map. There were many events like this from the end of the 19th century, right up through the civil rights era of the 1950s and even early 1960s. Why weren't they called "riots"? EDIT: I just noticed you included the Stonewall Riot. You really should look that up. It had nothing to do with race! Gay New Yorkers, tired of being beaten and abused by police, fought back in what is historically considered the beginning of the Gay rights movement. While I'm sure there were Black people there, most of the people fighting the police were White. Do you just think the word "riot" implies "Black people" is that how you accidentally included this one? That says a lot about where you're coming from.

UK cost of Car servicing v Taxi (Luton/Hemel) 2010?
Question:
I would like to find some decent reviews on recent 2010 experiences/charges at local garages (ideally that will cover the area of Hemel Hempstead, in Hertfordshire, UK) similar to a website like http://www.tripadvisor.com. The garage I previously used a couple of times were more expensive than the main dealership last year, and on checking the invoice felt I had been overcharged and some money was credited. I also learnt by chance from a conversation with a taxi driver that servicing costs for Taxis in the Luton area are very good so I am keen to locate someone new and reliable with a good reputation. I am being quoted around £170 which includes VAT for a 30,000 mile annual service. This is already £100 cheaper than the sort of price I paid at my garage last year. I have not located the garages that deal with Taxis yet but keen to find out. Also while value is important I am interested in hearing how long you have used garage etc. Thx

Answer:
can't help you in Hemel., we're in Coventry. we own a HGV garage... servicing is 35 pound an hour, plus parts... unlike certain main delars who're charging £85 per hour, PLUS VAT... around the coventry area most independent garages charge around 45-55 Ph... we already have guys who travel from Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire... sure, were not on your doorstep... but its only an hours drive... we can offer out of hours servicing upto 10pm and we work saturdays and sundays by appointment... i can almost hear your cogs whirring,,,, why is it so cheap? whats the catch? well, there isnt one... its cheap because, OK, we can screw you sideways, and we can make a fast profit... but youll be pissed, and tell everyone what a bunch of cowboys... instead, we'd rather treat you like a human being, and NOT a cash machine... and year in, year out, you'll be back... AND you wont badmouth us to your friends, to the contrary, youll reccomend us... that is good business...
