How can I get to Five Towns College via Public Trans.?
Question:
I'd like to know how I can get from the Bronx to Five Towns College in Dix Hills, LI. I need to meet with admission counselors, but I don't have access to a car to get out there. I tried using Trips123 already, but it said it couldn't give me any results. Near me is the 6 line, Q44, Bx14, Bx39, Bx 36.

Answer:
Hi, I'm currently a FTC student, and I live in the Bronx, on the 4 line. I use to be a commuter my first two years, I'm going to start dorming in the Fall, and I suggest you to try to dorm or drive, because the commute is about 3-4 hours long from the Bronx, and it cost a lot of money. Ok first you need to take the train all the way to 34th and Penn Station (only 1,2,3,A,C,E trains stop there). Secondly you need to buy a ticket from Penn to Babylon (which currently cost $16.50). Then once in Babylon you need to get on the S23 (which runs from 6am-6pm, once every hour. The s23 bus always leaves Babylon station to FTC at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, etc, and you must have exact amount for the bus fair. Regular people $1.50, and students $1.00). The bus ride takes about 30 minutes, and it will annouce very very loudly when it is reaching Five Towns. Like I said before it's a very long commute, and I got tired of it. That's why I'm dorming next Fall 08. Good luck, and I hope you don't get lost.

Are you sick of speed camera traps?
Question:
Danny Dix Question Are you sick of the govt. Putting speed cameras at the bottom of hills? And putting so many subtle speed changes on a road over a short distance, then planting a camera to try to catch even the most careful drivers? The Australian government has gotten sooo money hungry , it's now targeting honest drivers by placing cameras at the bottom of slopes on the highway, miles from anywhere, in an attempt to catch the honest-Joe driver who might let his car run 5kms over limit rather than apply the brakes to hold the car to the limit. Jeez. They pay millions in tv ads telling us that the cameras are there for safety reasons, however, they are seldom where they would help with safety, most are where there are small speed changes on suburban roads from 60kms to 50 kms to 40kms etc. Sometimes you get ten speed changes in one road....and then a camera....come onnnn. They are so addicted now to the huge revenue influx of $ hundreds of millions in low level speeding fines, that lately they have actually reduced the amount of points you lose from your licence when you get a ticket, just so they can keep you on the road without you actually losing your licence.....so they can book you for speeding more. And it's not as though we speed around town, people who are good drivers and have never been booked before are getting fines for 2kms over the limit and hundreds of dollars fines. Because the majority of cams are waiting around corners at the bottom of hills, I now run past them 10kms below the limit, having reduced highway speed to 15 below at the top of the hill to allow for run-on down the hill, both because a lot of them register your speed incorrectly, and so my brake replacement costs don't soar because I'm standing on the brake on every hill. Watch out Australia Additional Details Case in point: Penrith to mt Victoria. 85kms 78 speed changes.

Answer:
They are a money making scheme. If they really cared about our safety, they would make police cars well marked and visible. Even when police cars hide, they are more interested in DETECTION as opposed to PREVENTION. Having speeding cameras does not improve safety. When they put in speeding cameras, they have less cops on those roads. The problem lies in that speeding cameras only catch speeders. They do not catch people changing lanes dangerously, running red lights, or driving drunk
