Do you think the behavior of the characters is all that different from what you're used to (black people)? I'm asking this question because when I watch the show it just seems like regular every day issues that anyone deals with. They say the show "gets rid of stereo types". But I guess my question is how do other races really think black people act?!?! I grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago, which is a fairly nice area. Most people there are not Baldwin Hills rich (but there are definitely some that come close) but many live "comfortably" - middle class. When I watch Baldwin Hills I feel like they act no different than most of the people I grew up around minus the SUPER expensive cars as birthday gifts. But I was reading an article online from the New York Times that was saying things like: "inauthentic bougie (i.e. bourgeois) snobs, which may be relatively unfamiliar to the general audience (at least that part of it that doesn’t watch CW sitcoms)." and "break down stereotypes by offering the rest of the world documentary proof that affluent African-American enclaves like Baldwin Hills actually exist". Are people really that shocked that "all black people don't live in the ghetto??" So much so that they need proof???? I guess I don't find it that shocking because I didn't grow up like that. I think it's more shocking that other people are so small minded that they would believe that all black people live in the ghetto!

I love that show its way better than the Hills and Laguna Beach. Its better to relate to its not fake. The people on baldwin hills go through everyday issues like normal people and their not Bouji like the hill stars.

Has anyone been to the new car wash at Slauson and La Brea, in Ladera Heights (might be Inglewood, or even Baldwin Hills or Windsor Hills, I'm not exactly sure) in Los Angeles. It looks all new and exciting, but I've been twice. Both times I've sat in the line for about 10 minutes. One time I didn't move, one time I moved one car distance - and I could see 6 cars in front of me (and there were more I couldn't see in front of them). What gives? Does everyone wait over an hour? Have I been unlucky? Is there a problem?

I go to the carwash on the corner of Pico and Beverly Glen, I avoid going when it's crowded so I usually go when I see it empty and I happen to be driving by. So maybe try going at a time most people wouldn't. That would be nice if it's brand new maybe I should check it out though it's a little for!

Gibson Baldwin LP, good or crap? Do you know a better guitar in the same price range?

I've been wanting to buy an electric guitar for some time now, and always admired the Les Paul. But making barely above minimum wage, and any money I can save having to go towards college or a car my only options are cheap guitar or no guitar. I have an acoustic so I'm not completely new to the world of guitars, but I'm still a beginner. I've found the Gibson Baldwin educational series Les Paul on sale for $100. Is this even worth my time? Is it the kind of guitar I could practice with for now and replace the pickups later? I'd love to here of any other good, inexpensive, electric guitars for beginners.Thanks.

Yeah I suppose you could do that. Besides, you are just starting, no need to get anything too amazing yet! You will probably want a new guitar, not just new pickups later. The Epiphone Les Paul Special II comes in a deal too, they are great guitars. I own one. I hope you get into it. Guitar is freakin' awesome!

So far I've learned a lot about L.A. I've learned that it is pretty expensive out there like for example rent for an extremely small studio (0-1 bdrm), and a apartment go for about $ 1,0000 and up! I've learned the some pretty decent areas to move into for relocates like myself are places like; Orange County: which is cheap, Compton; Which is basically like the hood (bad, but more blown out of proportion when someone describes the living conditions), Long Beach: which is okay, and Baldwin Hills (the Black Beverly Hills)!!! I think you guys who've helped on informing me.... I do consider gas prices are pretty high--but I was thinking about buying a car out here in my hometown (Columbus,Ohio) with it being fully paid! I, myself want to start out first in a apartment maybe even a 1 bedroom studio (A few cousins and I have planned that we were going to move together and share the bills. I was thinking that $ 1,0000 to one person is a lot....but for like four people splitting that plus gas, etc isn't much!!! If you want to move out there to chase your dreams then do it - but if you are moving out there just to chase the "hollywood" life style, then don't do it. But it's a GREAT idea on how to neuter the banks and break us out of this recession, pay off our national debt, and bring unemployment in the USA down to 0. My question is ... IS THIS FEASIBLE? I voted for Chuck Baldwin. Chuck wants to eliminate the Fed. THAT is the only way that I can see of stopping the bankers. Chuck wants to remove the power of money creation from the Fed & return it to Congress. When the Fed "created" that $700 billion out of NOTHING they then gave it to the banks to HELP them. The banks then LOANED the money back to people, govt, etc WITH INTEREST. It cost nothing to make it and cost the banks nothing to get it but we have to pay them back? What a crock! If you eliminate the FED ... you cut off their FREE money. The Fed is all the Ruling Families & they charge the govt interest on the $700 billion when they make it. So the FED is making interest on it AND the banks are making interest on it. The Fed has this country on lock down in that we can NEVER pay back what we owe. We can barely cover the interest on the money we owe already. I just published the answer to this whole mess on Triond yesterday. It involves another bail-out but this time it would give the money to GM on condition that they rebuild DEtroit, build NEW homes and build a NEW auto plant that is the MOST advanced of ANY auto plant in the world. Robots & all. They would produce ONLY electric cars and hybrids capable of getting 300 mpg or better. ( see Aptera.com ... they are already making them in Carlsbad, Calif. ) They would design these cars to be the best in the world. We have the technology, we have the expertise, we have the resources, GM just needs a boost of cash AND A NEW DIRECTION! WE need to incorporate the ideals of A. Edward Deming (deceased) who rebuilt the Japanese economy after WWII and Ford in 1980. GM needs to focus on cars that will go 300 miles for $3.25. Rebuilding Detroit will bring thousands of new jobs. Giving a lump of money to GE for windmill design and production will make us the global leader in windmills AND solar panels. GERMANY is the current leader in solar. You drive up to 200 miles home and the batteries charge up while you sleep. You take the family to the beach on SAturday and while your kids play on the beach the batteries are re-charged.
