Checked altenator and changed battery and starter is new but car still wont start can anyone help?
Question:
86 buick somerset-had new battery tested and is loss its charge after trying to crank car

Answer:
First, make sure all your wires coming from the battery, alternator, and starter are all clean, tight and corrosion free. Be sure the ground is in good shape and is bolted securely to the block. Then, check the voltage of the power wire at the distributor with the key in the ignition in the on position, there should be 12 volts. If the car will rotate but not start, remove one of the spark plugs and attach it to the spark plug wire, have some one try to start it while you hold the spark plug electrode close to grounded metal and you should see a spark. If not you have a faulty distributor component. also check or replace the ignition switch.

How do I get to Somerset, NJ (to Garden State Exhibit Center) from Newark, NJ?
Question:
I think I have go to the Newark Penn Station and take the train to New Brunswick but I don't know what to do after that but it said it's 15 minutes away from Garden State Exhibit Center and I'm not sure if that's walking or by car or something else. I'm going to the Garden State Center because they're going to be holding a convention and my friends and I want to go there but we don't have a car or anyone else to take us...so it'll be very helpful and great if someone knows how to get there exactly.

Answer:
Here are your travel options from the GSEC website: http://www.hisomersetnj.com/location.php You will need a cab from the train station. The GSEC (right off 287) is closer to South Bound Brook / Bound Brook and Bridgewater. If still in doubt, call them up and ask.

I didn't expect you do do research Jet Doc, I thought people knowledgable about cars would know recognize an SUV from glancing at the list. And to the second person, it is a from 18/19 years ago. I didn't know that there were no SUVs in those days did I?

Answer:
Yeah, you're trolling. Your response to the person who called you out is overly defensive. You wouldn't just name random cars out and expect one of them to be an SUV if this question was legit. And there were SUVs 20 years ago, you just failed at composing a list. I'm pretty sure you know what a Porsche 911 is, and I'd imagine you're at least familiar enough with some of the cars on this list to know they're cars.

Do you think illegals should be allowed to vote New Haven to propose allowing non-citizen immigrants to vote?
Question:
Do you think illegals should be allowed to vote New Haven to propose allowing non-citizen immigrants to vote in municipal elections ? NEW HAVEN — New Haven is taking its immigrant-friendly approach one step further and has proposed allowing non-citizen residents, including those who are undocumented, to vote in municipal elections. The proposal is part of a package it will submit to state lawmakers for the session that starts in February. Mayor John DeStefano Jr. Tuesday said the impetus behind the proposal is “to build a more engaged participatory community” and it follows the example of other cities that have already done this. Related: DeStefano says federal program detaining illegal immigrants would undermine community trust Legal immigrants and undocumented immigrants who currently can’t vote would still not be able to vote in state or national elections. The change in New Haven would have to be approved by state lawmakers. Six municipalities in Maryland permit resident, including non citizens, voting in local elections, including Takoma Park, Barnesville, Martin’s Additions, Somerset, Garrett Park, and Chevy Chase. Takoma Park did this in 1992, a decision that has stayed on the books despite efforts early on to repeal it. Chicago is an example of a city that allows all residents, regardless of legal status, to vote on school issues. DeStefano said this week he ran into a couple residing in Westville who attended a discussion on the city’s revaluation. They are not citizens and kiddingly pointed out that the United States is where taxation without representation was settled long ago, but not for them. The mayor said non-citizens are stereotypically thought of as coming from south of the border, but immigrants in the city are is more diverse than that. “If you live here, you pay taxes here and send your kids to school here, you should be able to vote,” DeStefano said. Continued... 12See Full Story It is estimated that between 10,000 and 12,000 undocumented residents are in New Haven. Generally, about 77 percent of the city’s population is 18 years or age and older, according to the census, DeStefano said. He compared it to 1970 when students temporarily living in the city as they attended college, could elect to vote here. The mayor said there was much opposition to that at the time, but “I think it brought the city and the (Yale) university closer together.” “If you are a member of a community, one of your responsibility is to vote,” DeStefano said. Asked if this wouldn’t create a new voting block for him, DeStefano said he doubt that it would. Voter turnout in municipal elections is usually light, with 32 percent participating in a lively mayoral contest this year. A review of voting by non-citizens in Maryland showed they tend to vote at lower rates than U.S. citizens and their numbers were small with several hundred registered to vote in elections during the 1990s. Asked how undocumented residents pay taxes, DeStefano said they do indirectly by paying rent and also by paying car taxes, although restricting voting to those who pay taxes has been outlawed for some time. http://www.nhregister.com/articles/2011/12/14/news/doc 4ee7e6aaf16b3231712012.txt?viewmode=fullstory

Answer:
Some illegals are also voting by using fake and stolen IDs. But letting them vote would be one of the biggest insults and tragedies this country has faced!! Voting is a privilege. It should not be just handed out like candy.

Is $1800 for a '91 BMW a good deal for a car?
Question:
I'm considering using the monies saved for finding a new place towards getting a car of my own since my parents dont really let me drive theirs. Answer:
Obviously, Beemers are well made cars that last. However, I wouldn't buy any car with 200,000 miles on it unless the most recent owner has owned it for over half of it's life and mileage. . Here's some things to look for: 1) Is it naturally clean looking? In other words does it look like it's been cared for over time versus recently detailed with gob of Armoral slapped on the tires and interior? 2) Is it seeping or leaking oil? Take it to a mechanic and put it up on a rack. Look underneath. Is there a lot of oil seepage or tranny fluid seepage? Look at the tires and make sure and have the brakes checked. 3) Does is shift and drive well? Pay pay attention to the exhaust when you first start it and when you accelerate. Does it smoke? 4) Does the owner have service records for at least oil changes? If everything checks out and the car is pretty clean, $1800 is probably fair. I would offer a few hundred less, especially if it need tires and brakes. Your best bet is to find a really good Japanese car like a Toyota that's 10 years old with half the miles for a couple thousand more..

cycling routes help?
Question:
I feel like i've done a million searches. I'm looking for a postcode to postcode route planner for bike routes. I want to ride a bike to my new job, but all the route planners are for cars. Its within all within somerset, but the only routes i have (car routes) involve roads like the A37 and A39, granted, not motorways but i haven't gotten on a bike in years and am wondering if there are easier routes, as i know in my local area there are thousand of shortcuts across fields and footpaths. A bus route involves 3 buses, walking (not sure if they'll let me bring my bike for the last couple of miles i have to walk) and is two hours total for a 28mile trip by car (50mins). Any ideas?

Answer:
I live in Somerset too! I've riden on the two main roads you mention too, not knowing where you are going from/to - it's difficult for me to be specific but take a look at the Sustrans site and play around a for a bit, I have zoomed into your approximate location(guessing) http://www.sustrans.org.uk/default.asp?sRegio n=The_West_Country&map.x=-2.33808522317629&map.y=51.1555376245395 &bLarge=&nZoom=6&sPan=W I stumbled across one once heading North out of Shepton Mallet alongside the A37 but the lovely smooth paving gave way to a track (Not for 700x23c tyres!) so I had to follow the A37 instead. Best of luck anyway. EDIT: Sorry about the link - It's blue when I preview it for posting but when it's posted - the link fails!! - Anyone else having this problem? edit: Thanks for that Silver and McG, no doubt time will tell, if it's permanent or not! .
