How do you get from Secaucus to New York City attractions?
Question:
Hi, I'm going to be visiting New York City for a couple of days. I am staying in Secaucus and would like to know the best way to get to New York City without a car...which buses or trains/subway would I have to take? Please give as much details as possible...I have never been to NYC...I'd like to see the empire state building, statue of liberty and the wax museum....thanks!!

Answer:
Go to the Secaucus Junction station and take a train to Penn Station. That's near the Empire State Building and belive it is near the wax musem. To get to the Statue of Liberty, take the 2 or 3 from Penn tation to Chamber Street and transfer to the 1 train to South Ferry. (The 1 stop at Penn Station, but it is local and slower) From there, take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty or take the free Staten Islan Ferry, which passes the Statue of Liberty) Hope this helps.

What is the best way to get to Embassy Suites in Secaucus, New Jersey from Newark Airport?
Question:
We won't be renting a car, anyone know the best route by transit? Re: answer to my question - they don't have an airport shuttle.

Answer:
The best and FREE way is their (Courtesy Bus) airport shuttle. http://embassysuites1.hilton.com/en_US/es/hotel/MEANJES -Embassy-Suites-Secaucus-Meadowlands-New-Jersey/directions.do Most times hotel shuttles are at the Station P4 but they will let you know where to access theirs. If landing between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM, be sure to ask if you need to reserve a pick up. Have a save flight and fun time in the metro area. Additional: Since they can't send the courtesy bus, the $60 taxi would be the the next option or book your own shuttle to go straight there. http://www.goairlinkshuttle.com ($13 and up) If those are beyond your budget, you can take the 107 bus to Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan then the 190 bus from PABT in Manhattan to the hotel which will be a long but inexpensive process but less transfers. 107: http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T0107.PDF $7.00/person 190: http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T0190.PDF $3.20/person

What is the best way to get to New York City from New Jersey?
Question:
Bus? Ferry? Something else? I'm in Secaucus, NJ. I have a car, so I can get to other departure points, but I also need to be able to park it somewhere while I'm in the city. I have never been to New York before, so I have no idea how much the various transit methods cost or what they're like. Thanks for any info! Thanks for the answers so far! Yeah, I already knew that driving into the city made no sense. I just wasn't sure about which method of mass transit.

Answer:
Since you're in Secaucus, I suggest you just take the train in. It's only one stop to Manhattan via the NJ Transit train. There's a parking lot at the Secaucus rail station. The fare is $3.25 each way. Here's info about parking: http://www.parkfast.com/do/rates?rateAreaId=14&rateAreaColor=gree n

Why couldn't I find the NJTP exit for Secaucus Station?
Question:
I am usually very good with directions, and rarely get lost, however on my recent trip, I was supposed to drop some friends off at Secaucus Junction and I missed the exit, even though I was watching closely and knew what I was looking for. Heres what happened: I was driving north on the New Jersey Turnpike, looking for exit 15X, which is supposed to drop me off right at the train station, but it never appeared. I passed the Newark Airport, passed the exit 14 set, saw exit 15E exit left, then 15 W, and then began the exit 16 set, with no sign of 15X. I am wondering if its some sort of tricky exit where I have to take another exit to get to 15X or something, as I know that the highways get very confusing and complex in the leadup to New York City. I was heading from Delaware to Connecticut, taking the path that leads from the northbound cars only lane to the lower deck of the George Washington Bridge following 95 north the whole way. Any idea as to why I missed the exit?

Answer:
If you've passed the Meadowlands (Giants Stadium, Izod Center), that's the problem right there. You were on the wrong spur...and it's not your fault actually (read on) Just before exit 15 heading north, the New Jersey Turnpike breaks off into two spurs (eastern and western)...thus the exits reflect that number...15W, 16W. In the case of Secaucus Junction, exit 15X, being a rather new exit and not necessarily reflected on the signs prior to the split (New Jersey is TERRIBLE when it comes to directional signs), you would have had to take the Eastern Spur (exits 15E, 15X, 16E). The exit for 15X is there. You cannot access Secacus Junction on the Western Spur. But in the event you would ever get lost like that again, take exit 16W to Route 3 East, connect to the NJ Turnpike eastern spur that way (southbound), and then get out at 15X.

How to get to 55 Water street NYC from Port Authority or Penn station?
Question:
I have to go for an interview and i am not a new yorker. I can take my car too if that's convenient. Money is not an issue. I live in clifton, NJ and so far i thought I will be driving to secaucus and take a train to penn station. Or I can take bus from clifton to Port authority. These are the 2 options i have to get till NYC. I am not sure how to get to water street from port authority or penn station. Please suggest what way to go. Thanks in advance

Answer:
From Penn Station, you can take the Brooklyn-bound (2) or (3) trains to Wall Street. Once you get off, walk south along Water Street, until you reach Water Street. From there, make a right onto Water Street walk one block, and you'll be right there. You should be towards the front of the train, but either way, it won't make much of a difference. From the Port Authority Bus Terminal, walk to 42nd Street/Times Square and take the Brooklyn-bound (2) or (3) to Wall Street, and then walk over to your destination. Personally, I'd take the train. The bus could potentially get caught in traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel, and the walk from the bus terminal to the subway station is longer. The only advantage is that it's direct and you don't have to transfer at Secaucus. Look at the train schedule (or the bus if you prefer) and see how long it takes to reach Manhattan. After that, it'll take a little under 30 minutes to reach your destination. Of course, since it's a job interview, I'd factor in at least an extra 30 minutes on top of that to avoid being late, as it's a job interview. I hope this information was very helpful. Good luck on your interview!
