How to get From Lakewood New Jersey to Staten Island New York without a car?

Leaving a Motor Home at Camping World on Rt. 9 for service and want to get back to Staten Island, what are my options.

Answer:
You can do it, but it's not fast. The NJ Transit #559 bus stops at the corner of US 9 and NJ 70, a short walk from Camping World. It takes you about three miles to the bus terminal in downtown Lakewood, where you can get the #139 bus to NYC. There you walk from the bus terminal to the Times Sq subway station and take the 1 or R train to South Ferry and the ferry to S.I. The whole thing will probably take about four hours. The people at Camping World might be willing to run you into town, so you can skip the possibly long wait for the first bus. Check the NJ transit schedule for bus times and fares. The #139 runs every 1/2 hr during the day, the #559 only once an hour.

I am from New York and therefore my car has New York license plates. I was visiting a friend in Lakewood, New Jersey, almost 2 hours south of where I live. On the way there, I was getting sleepy and decided to pull over to a side street and take a 20 minute nap. I was looking all over for a side street where it is safe to pull over. It took me 15 minutes to find such a road. During the 15 minutes, each street I turned into was narrow and the speed limit was 45. I finally found a spot to pull over. I pulled over at a street that wasn't recognized by my GPS (definitely a newly built street), opened my windows, shut my car off, put my seat down and took a nap. I realized a woman walking her dog was staring at me. Obviously she called the police department. Several minutes later, I hear someone asking "is everything ok"? I just woke up so my brain didn't fully "power on" so I asked "are you an officer?" and he nodded his head. Then I realized that he was dressed in a uniform and had a badge. His car was parked right behind mine. He asked what I was doing, I politely informed him that I pulled over to take a nap. He asked for my driver's license and registration and asked for my phone number, the address of my friend, and his phone number. Another cop car came to him shortly thereafter and both officers came to me. The officer with my license and registration gave me back my stuff and told me "next time find somewhere else to nap. You are creeping out this neighborhood". I said ok, apologized and that's it. I knew I obviously am not getting a ticket and if I did I would take it to court and embarrass the officer in front of the judge. Did he have a right to tell me that? The reason I pulled over to nap was to prevent me from falling asleep on the wheel and getting into an accident. I was sitting on public property, who gives him the right to tell me this and who gives the woman the right to call the cops? I cannot sleep in my house because of all the noise my family makes, and now even in my own private car I cannot take a nap without being bothered for stupidity.

I commute from Norwalk to Lakewood and my car just broke down, would it be a good idea to get a vespa to go to and from work and school? I am a 22yr old female and I am not sure I want the trouble of a new car. I need something reliable and efficient! Could a vespa be the right choice for me? Two wheels will save money *IF* it is your only vehicle. If you use a car for when it is cold or raining then you cannot save enough gas money to pay for a second vehicle. Are you capable of riding all the time, wearing the rain gear and the cold gear? If so.... A Vespa 150 is the Classic Scooter. A Piaggio Fly150 is the same corporation for under $1000. Norwalk-Lakewood are close enough for street use. If you want freeway use you can get a 250-280cc Vespa or a Piaggio BV250. Or a motorcycle, a 250cc cruiser.

Meeting new people after moving?

So here's the story: I'm moving at the beginning of June right after I finish high school in May from Texas to Washington and I'd like to meet new people soon after getting there. Details: -I'm 16 (and will be after I graduate/move) -Moving to Lakewood, Washington -Have a driver's license and access to a car. -I don't think that I'm going to college the fall 09 semester, so you can mark that off. -I'm not particularly religious, so church activities / church youth group are pretty much crossed off too. -I've considered volunteering at an animal shelter or something, maybe getting a job (though it'd be limited due to age). -Interning is also a possibility, as my mom's friend might be able to get me some sort of internship at Microsoft through connections. Suggestions? -To clarify: I am GRADUATING high school at 16, I cannot go back to high school when I move, as I'll already have my diploma and such. It's a normal graduation, just a year early (i go to an alternative high school atm that allows me to graduate a year early). I am a senior this year! -I plan to go to college once I won't be paying out-of-state tuition costs for not being a resident, but that's not for at least 6mo to 1yr (unsure, haven't looked it up. I have given this mechanic over a thousand dollars now and he has not fixed anything at all on my audi this is all I have to take to court let me know what you think? 2000 Audi S4 History: March 20, 2010- On this day I purchased my new car. March 29, 2010- I was driving and my Car started making a screeching noise in the rear wheels. March 29, 2010- I called A mobile mechanic Service. They came out to my house to see what was the problem. Terry the mechanic drove my car around the block, right away he said he knew exactly what was the problem he said the cv joint/ axle was going out. He said it would be an easy fix and wouldn’t be more that 150$ per side including labor. Right away he took my car in my garage and started to take apart all the rear components of the car. He also found a small leak in the front of my car he said that was a valve cover gasket. When He left he told me he would need money for the parts that would fix the leak I gave him 200 dollars for that. March 30, 2010- As he was working on it he told me the car would need some additional parts because of wear. So on this day I purchased new axles. I also purchased new discs for the rear along with new brakes and wheel bearings and also bushings. After working on my car for less than an hour he told me the axles were not the right and he left. So I started looking for the axles and he told me that he would get the right ones. I gave him the axles that I purchased he said he would return those and get the right ones. April 7, 2010- After a long week He finally comes back to my car which is sitting in my garage in a bunch of pieces. He Does the same thing he starts on it then gets picked up and calls me and tells me that he doesn’t have the right one again. By this time I am getting frustrated because he told me at the start that this wouldn’t take more than an hour on each side. April 12, 2010- At this point I really dislike the guy he is just giving me bogus excuses of why he cant make it to my house to finally fix my car. On this day he also told me that the car needed new struts and he told me to give him 360$ at this point I had to do it because he already had money of mine and I did not want to loose it. April 18,2010- He told me to come down and pick up my car he said it was ready to go that everything was fixed so me and my friend drove down there and picked it up. First of all go get a lawyer, second of all you have receipts for the work? Here is the prime example of why I hate being a mechanic. Guys like this give us a bad name. Here is where you went wrong You trusted some guy to come to your house and fix your car instead of taking it to a reputable repair shop. We are by no means the cheapest shop around but its the hassle free service,warranty and professional service your buying along with the repair. What I would have done is after the first time he failed to fix my car is cut my losses and find someone else. I received a speeding ticket on my way home today. (75 in a 50 zone) I just found out my insurance was cancelled without my knowledge! This is my first speeding ticket EVER and my first traffic violation in 6 years (minor car accident, my fault, off my record by now). How bad is this one going to be? Is there a way to call the insurance company and reinstate my policy and send the new card in with my ticket or is that illegal? I am really freaking out. I won't know how much it is, either, until I call in the morning. I am 22, uninsured, and unsure...HELP!

Yes its a scam. I have offered cash, even a little more than what they were asking for.. They still want to go through ebay. Then why dont they sell it there. There a lot of these in CL, selling Cars, Trucks, Harleys etc. They all have a long story to go with it, but never want to get paid in cash, always ebay, and always wanted to ship the vehicle. Dont waste your time with these scammers.
