I just recently got my first ticket ever the other day. the offense was for "throwing my cigarette out of a moving vehicle". To make a long story short, i didn't throw it, the wind blew it out of my hand. Seriously, I just lit it at a stop light and the cops had been hunting down cars for tickets all day on that street, and he'd been driving near me for about 5 blocks. I had no intention of chucking it out the window. Anyway, what should i look forward to? the cop told me to pay the ticket within 3 weeks, but after reading the ticket the pay by date isn't until march. there's no court date, the fine is $632. Once again this is my first ticket ever, I'm almost 26 and been driving safely for years. And PLEASE I'm looking for general advice about my situation, not a lecture about smoking or littering, I know I can expect that from the Judge when my ticket goes to court. Once again, it was an accident, I use an ashtray to put out my smokes while I drive, I just ash outside for safety.

dont pay. go to court and try to fight it. worst case scenario is that you pay the fine. If the cop that wrote you the ticket doesn't show up your case is dropped and you dont have to pay(as far as i know this is true). Most of the time the dumb pig doesnt show up, they've forgotten all about you. I've know friends and family that has gotten out of multiple speeding tickets by doing this. Get an extension on your ticket, go to court in 4 or 5 months. Most of the time the cops wont even remember you or what happened and they dont wanna waste their time in the court room. Can call a lawyer and see what they say to. maybe they'll give you a free consultation and tell you how to get out of it. $600 is outrageous. Fight it, you might win. You dont have to pay within 3 weeks. The cop probably just doesn't want you to fight it. My girlfriend got a speeding ticket last year and didn't have to pay it for a couple months. dont listen to the pig. Just make sure you deal with it before the due date. dont want a warrant out for you over something this stupid. good luck. i hope you win your case.

I was driving with my little brother in the car a few days ago. We went to the store and he bought himself a little toy. In my car he opened his toy, and at a red light he threw the packaging (keep in mind it was just a little pokemon toy, the packaging was a thin little piece of cardboard material with plastic over the actual toy) out the window like a frisbee and it landed on the side walk to the right of the car next to mine. This is the problem. The people in the car to the right of mine got OUT of their car, picked up the packaging, and when the light turned green they drove on the side of my car and yelled out at me "Is this yours?!" (i didn't really look at them because i kept my eyes on the road, but i could tell they were holding up the packaging) When I didn't say anything back they yelled "I have your license plate number! You can bet i'll see you in court!" Now this is my question: Will I get some kind of littering ticket if they go to the police? It was my little brother who threw the packaging, he's only 6 so I can't really be mad at him. I KNOW that the packaging did NOT hit their car, BUT, if they were to lie (like i have a feeling they will) and say that it hit their car, or that it hit their car while we actually driving or something like that, can I expect something worse than a ticket? I'm worried. I'm only 18 and I have a job and all, but something like this is not something i'm looking forward to dealing with if those people weren't bluffing. It won't go to court. And if this story was told in court, and it was found out the 6 year old was the one who littered, the judge would just drop the charges.
