On new years I was in a friends car in the passengers seat. We were both sharing a cig and when it was out I put it out the window. I normally never do this I have my own smokeless ashtray in my car and use it everytime. She had just cleaned her car and didn't have an ashtray to put it out in this is why I put it out he window. We got pulled over by two cops in an suv and the put their spot light on us and both cops got out and came up to both sides of the vehicle. I got fined $1132 I believe. I understand it not ok to litter and normally don't. I have three kids though and cannot afford this ticket. My husband and I barely make enough to support our family as it is and im wondering if there is anything that I can do to either have this fine dropped or reduced drasticly. I know what I did was wrong and don't mind paying a much smaller amount for the offence as long as I can make a payment arrangment. I've never been to court though and im very very nervous that im going to get stuck with this fine that I can't afford and end up in more trouble because of that. I really need some good advice on what to say or do in court that will help get this fine dropped. Ugh. Help please. Thank you. If you don't have an answer for me that actually HELPS do not post. The fine sounds about right. In my state it would be $1000 + the $150 court costs. You can probably ask to be put on a payment plan. In some situations the court can assign you to community service. As many brush fires are caused by cigarettes thrown from vehicles - maybe you could volunteer for some kind of fire prevention community service????

Can I get towed for having a late registration?

Fly into Reno. You'll get a better airfare. Lake Tahoe airport is on the South Shore and is a very small airport that services private planes and a couple of small commuter airlines. FYI South Lake Tahoe is closer to Carson City than the North Shore. BTW The Sunday brunch at Harrah's Forest Buffet is one of the best I've ever been to. A will CANNOT change the beneficiary clause. You call the insurance company to file the claim on the life insurance. You get the will (from wherever it is) and file THAT with probate court. The two aren't related, honest. Your father in law cannot bypass the primary beneficiary clause, period. It's completely NOT up to him. ONLY THE POLICY OWNER can change the beneficiary. Whoever paid the premium is likely the policy owner. The policy OWNER is not necessarily the insured. If your father in law has all the paperwork, likely HE IS THE OWNER. Then he would name HIMSELF beneficiary. What is the source of the information that makes you think you're primary beneficiary? Contact the insurance company, see if a claim was ever filed.
