Travelling to mexico in a month possibly?
Question:
ok so i am thinking of driving down to mexico in my car from missouri(yes long way) to veracruz(cordoba or orizaba maybe) what precautions should i take and what necessities should a bring, and also, what is needed and does anyone have any input to what i would go through at the border or customs or whatnot(i plan on going through brownsville matamoros crossing) and also, what i should not bring with me,and not bring back?

Answer:
Crossing into Mexico is easy...of course don't bring any weapons with you...but chances are you will just drive straight through over the border without anyone stopping or checking you. I didn't even have to show an ID until I filled out the form for my FM-T. The only reason you would need to stop is if you brought an excessive amount of electronics with you. People drive crazy in Mexico, be warned :>). If you have a nice car I would definately consider NOT taking it as Mexican roads are not well maintained. And they've managed to put a speed bump it seems like every mile or so in the road...a few I have seen are about 2 feet tall and no matter how you go over them you are going to scrape the hell out of the bottom of your car. (You'll have to buy Mexican car insurance before you go...read it carefully and it will have a disclamer that says something to the effect of it does not cover any damage to the underside of the car....THAT should tell you something.) It's almost guaranteed that anytime you park your car in public the people beside you will hit your car with their doors. It happens at least 90% of the time. I have so many dents on the sides of my car now that I can't even count them all. Anyways, usually you will have two choices of roads between cities. One being a "cuota" and the other being "libre". The cuota will cost anywhere from about $2.00 - $14.00 to use but it is much safer and is just like an Interstate in the U.S. One the other hand, a libre road is like the most hellish backroad you've ever seen and you'll definately get stuck behind a load of tractor and trailers going about 30 miles and hour and you'll have to pass them in some very questionable places. They're not very safe, just take my word. Coming back to the U.S. is a different story. Just don't bring back any foods, animals, plants, etc. and you'll be just fine!!! Good luck!

How Much Would Gas Cost on This Road Trip?
Question:
We are driving from Maryland to Joshua Tree, California. We are going through Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, then Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, then finally California. We are coming back through Nevada , Utah, Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri to get back home. We taking a 2004 Ford Explorer, it has an 18 gallon fuel capacity. The car has just been serviced and has new tires. We will be filling up with grade 89 fuel. Thanks in advance.

Answer:
Geez - this is simple, but you need to tell us HOW MANY MILES PER GALLON does that car get? Do this: Go to any mapping site - like google maps and let it tell you the route, or adjust it to match where you want to go. It will tell you the total distance. Divide the total distance by the miles per gallon of the car: Total Distance / Miles per gallon That gives you the approximate number of gallons. Multiply Total gallons x Dollars per gallon That gives you the total cost.

Question:
We have stops in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio and finally arrive in New York. It's me (38) and my two kids (13 and 5). Looking for great family friendly sites to make this trip very memoriable. My son (13) will be the trip photographer as well as journalling to make an awesome portfolio for his homeschool geography class. We will be driving from Oct - Jan. Answer:
It would help us all immensely if you could provide your exact stops in each state so that we can better advise you. Get a National Parks Pass > $ 80.00 Good for a year at any NPS site that charges a fee . Get the expensive AAA membership. Not only is it good for towing but it will save you money on motes , restaurants and hopefully not car repairs. Sam's club will do the same thing. Get a CB radio. There are a lot of places in the West where cell phones simply won't work. Get back to us We back . I'll try to get you to PHX today then other places on other days. Since snow is going to be a real issue on this trip I'm going to try to get most of the snow in wilderness driving out of the way as early possible . Get your Rand McNally out for this and I have personally driven about 90% of the roads I'm sending you down I would go Oregon , Boise ID>Arco ID > West Yellowstone MT >Jackson WY>Green River WY > Vernal UT>Moab UT > Monticello UT> Cortez CO > Mesa Verde NP >Shiprock NM> Four Corners > Montezuma Creek UT>Blanding UT I'm sending you north on a loop that will take you north to the Jct of SR 95 west on Sr SR 95 then south on SR 261. The squiggles on SR 261 represent Moquoi Dugway.Moguoi Dugway is a washboard gravel road w/ no guard rails that switchbacks a couple of thousand feet of cliff face at a 10% grade. The view is stunning, Some people that have driven it love it while others still have the impressions of their fingers permanently imbedded in their steering wheels. If you chose not to go that route then Montezuma Creek UT > Mexican Hat UT make sure that you do the detour for the Goosenecks of the San Juan River State Park.> Kayenta AZ > Cameron Az- Reserve a room for the 2 nights at the Cameron Trading Post . neighbors locked my cat in their garage and wont give him back?
Question:
So i was taking my cat to get microchipped and he got out of my car when i went to get in and ran across the street, now ive had numerous issues with these people, but he ran into their garage and they looked at me and shut the door. they dodge me everytime i see them. what can i do. he had a collar on when he jumped out of my car but no saying if they took it off. i do have pictures of him when he was a kitten with me in new mexico i am now living in missouri.

Answer:
You have microchipped the cat, right? Call the vet how microchipped the cat and ask him/her what to do in this situation. Once they have proof (with the location) that the cat is in your nighbor's house/garage, then you can call the polic and get the seach warrant to get the cat back. If you want, you can sue them for stealing property as well!

car title transfer issues?
Question:
Ok so this is a really messed up situation, and please don't give me any guff, please understand I thought I did this with family I could trust, but now I know better. So I'm in Missouri, and sold a car in November of 2010, before the end of the year, before property taxes would be charged. I sold the car to my cousin, and her boyfriend. In May of 2011, I went to register a new car, and was told I had back prooperty taxes owed on the car I sold. I tried getting ahold of my cousin, with no luck. Family close has since told me she took of with her illegal immigrant boyfriend, who signed the title of the the sold car, tried registering it under a false name, and was deported back to Mexico, and my cousin followed. So now, I have no bill of sale, no title, and no car, with a large sum in back property taxes and penalties due to the state, with no buyer information. My cousin has since got in touch with me from Mexico, asking if I would apply for a lost title on the car so she can sell it to "a friend of hers" in the States, I told her yes, but I need a BoS, and buyer info, to no avail. My question is, how do I get this title out of my name?! The car from what I've heard is useless now, totalled, and I don't even know where the car is now. I just want this off me, and don't know where to begin.

Answer:
There should be a form for release of interest in a vehicle. It is to protect the selling party from anything that may happen from the time it was sold to the time it gets registered by another party. You are on the hook for the taxes though. If that doesn't work, then get the lost title, and report it lost/stolen.

Bught car with bill of sale/owner wont give title/wont answer calls/need legal advise.?
Question:
I bought a 1970 chevelle from a guy with a bill of sale. Title was suppose to come ot me a month later. It never came. The guy avoids me....lives with his mom. He lives 3 states away. He doesnt answer my calls, emails, text messages. I have heard of a bonded title. Pisses me off because he changed his number and i found that out and called him a few days ago...and he was surprised and said call me in an hour.....I called 5 times so far and he doesnt answer. I went to place a cilil suit against him but them said if it does go through they wouldnt be able to make him hand over the title because he lives in another state.........but that it would show up on his credit (im sure he could care less)..........and i didnt want to waste 75 dollars if it would lead me nowhere. Its been 5 months now and I dont know where to go.....I really need this car up and running. Also I live in new mexico and he lives in missouri. What are my options? What would you guys do? Thanks I appreciate all your help.

Answer:
Contact the state police where you live and report the car as abandoned. Then put a storage lien on it for $2000.00 so that he has to either give you the title or pay the lien to get the car back. If he ignores the police and does not let them know he wants the car and is going to pay the lien then you will be able to get a new title for the car in your name after 6 months. If the laws are the same as they are here in Pennsylvania. He will probably tell the police that he wants the car back but when he finds out you put the lien on it he will not pay to get it and will probably send the title to you so that you don't take him to court to get the storage fee from him. You are legally allowed to charge him $150.00 per day for the storage of the vehicle after the date tat you set on the on the lien. Hope I have been helpful.

I bought a car and only received a bill of sale.?
Question:
I know.....I never should have bought the car without the title. The guy lives in california, I live in new Mexico. He told me it would take 30 days to get the title. I never received the title and its been four months. He doesnt answer any calls, changed his number, and the last time i talked to him he was rude. Funny thing though, in the glove compartment of the vehicle he left all his insurance and titling documents. I had him on my facebook as well and he stopped answering me there. This is so frustrating. I have a car that I cant register or drive. Please someone give me some help and let me know what I can legally to get the title. Thank you. Additional Details I live in new mexico.......and he lives in missouri right now. What can I do legally? With civil court they cant make him turn the title over right?

Answer:
You're hosed. If he told you the title would take 30 days, its highly probable that the car is/was financed through a lender. He was supposed to pay off the lender, then get you the title. I am laying odds that he didnt pay the bank, skipped with your money, and now he's in the wind. You would have to file criminal charges against him for selling "out of trust" - meaning he sold a car he had no legal right to sell. The problem for you is that, if I am right, the bank is looking for that car. If and when they find it, it will be repossessed, and you will be out the car AND your money. Then the only way to recover is sue in court, get a judgement, then try to collect. Do NOT hesitate. get to the DMV and find out if they can do a title search for you. That will show the legal owner and registered owners of that car. If there is a lien, it will show then. Carfax can also show whether there is an existing lien on the car. If there is, your next stop is the police station/court house to find out how to file charges. Good luck - I hope it works out for you

Help with moving across country?
Question:
I am moving from California to North Carolina. I leave Northern California and will be in North Carolina January 2nd. I am driving with my Great Dane and cat along with whatever I can fit into my Honda CRV. I need suggestions on places to see. The states I will be driving through are: California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The drive will be during winter, so keep that in mind. Also, if I could get an outsiders view of things I should bring or a check list of things to do before I leave. So far I have: rotate tires, buy snow chains, oil change, and ask if the transmission fluid in my car is good for the weather I will be in. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Answer:
Well, from the states you're going through, you might consider taking historic Route 66 until you get into Oklahoma. There are so many neat things along that route.
