North Kansas City Missouri history question?
Question:
Back in 1968-1970 I lived in a small community in northern Kansas City, named Nashua. It was located between Gladstone and Smithville Missouri. This community never became a town but the interesting thing is it had a Post Office, a Bank and what looked like a general store. Also a few other old brick buildings and even a train station were located nearby in a town squire area that looked to be built in the late 1800's to early 1900's . When we first moved to the area the bank still had the very old giant safe and it that had gone through the floor over the many years. If I am not mistaken the old town squire is still there along with many much newer homes that have been added over the years. My question is, what happened? Are there any North Kansas City history experts out there who know why it never became a town and why did Nashua die around the early 1900's? Unlike the small town I live in today that has experts on the history of its past, this community had nobody in Nashua that knew its past and that was way back in the late 60's. There seemed to be no one who had family that were born and raised there to share any information on its past. It was a very cool place to live as a teen and people would leave their keys in there cars, their houses unlocked and waved at each other as they drove by. Some of the locals still had out houses because at that time frame there was no water from the city. Best educated answer gets ten points. Thanks

Answer:
Same thing happened to Antelope, Saskatchewan. They moved out the grain elevator in the late 1970's - the last vestige of civilization.
