Why did she snub my olive branch to make friends?
Question:
This girl at work had a joke with me and i had a joke back (about my age) And i apologized twice to her and she said fine. But on the way home a car pulled up and this guy got out and attacked me and the girl was with him he said to me never talk to her again. Why is she making friends with all my friends on f/b i think its either she is trying to turn them against me or She is trying to make up and do not know how to after the trouble she caused? The joke was not nasty or rude. i have gave her an olive branch and tried to make friends but she snubbed it is it because she is nervous to as she may think i will shout at her or she feels bad and do not know what to say or she hates me? I think she feels she has gone to far in disliking me and cant turn back

Answer:
none of this makes sense... or it is really hard to understand what your trying to say... sorry please fix...

Should we stop extending the olive branch?
Question:
Long story short we have not seen my MIL in over a year now. Short version she was unsafe with our kids and when confronted got defensive and hung up the phone and has not spoken to us since. She has not called or been in contact. We have called a few times but mainly because the kids ask to speak to Grandma. Usually she does not answer, she loves to screen calls on her answering machine. We have moved and she does not even know. We called before Thanksgiving and Christmas and left carefully worded messages. Basically saying she has an open invitation to dinner and to let us know if she is coming so we can make arrangements to pick her up, she has no car. That way she is coming because she wants to and not because we have moved. We are sure if she found out about our move that she would come just to be nosy. This way we are inviting her and she can make up her own mind. She has not called us back on either occasion. Should we just stop trying to contact her Suggest category Garden and Landscaping I told my wife already she is a better person then me. I would of given up a long time ago.

Answer:
You tried, and now the ball is in her court. Just let it be. If she gives you a call, great. If not, oh well, her loss, you move on. I wouldn't call her again, you tried, it's only going to piss you off even more to keep calling and keep getting screened. They suggested 'Garden and Landscaping' because your MIL is a gnome. Nah, actually, they suggested it because you used the word 'arrangement'...like flower arrangements...yeah, don't worry, we've still got a few years before computers completely replace humans. :)

Pony cars coming to Nascar?
Question:
On Saturday when a NASCAR official spoke of the new NNS COTs, he beamed. It had been a long time since someone from the sanctioning body's side of the sport was genuinely enthusiastic about the styling of a car. And when he mentioned "Mustang," my ears perked. A Mustang? A true American sports car for NASCAR competition? And a Challenger, too? I must be dreaming. "Ten-fold better than a Cup car," the official said of the designs, which must be submitted for approval by June 26 according to the NASCAR Rule Book. The new cars are expected to be closer to stock than any vehicle that the sanctioning body has run in the top two series since the dreaded term "aero-matching" rolled off spin-doctor tongues in 2000. Despite opposition to a common template platform from both General Motors and Ford, NASCAR turned the Sprint Cup division into a high-dollar IROC Series where all the cars were similar — and the fans turned away. Field managers warned league principals that loss of brand identification would be detrimental not only to the manufacturers, but to the sport itself. Manufacturers reportedly poured more than a half-billion dollars into the sport last year through factory and technical support to the teams, track support, vehicle programs and advertising. Yet NASCAR turned its back on Detroit with each generation of its race car as it morphed further away from what was on the showroom floor. Yes, the new Sprint Cup car has proved to be safer. After the initial blow of scrapping entire fleets of the old car, the new model will be more cost efficient. The level of competition with the new car — at tracks other than intermediate and two-mile venues — has picked up considerably. But the majority of core NASCAR fans have never embraced this car. The evidence of their displeasure can be measured in the dramatic drop in attendance, souvenir sales and television ratings, all of which started long before the economy tanked. Now NASCAR is feeling a similar pain in its pocketbook. And the sanctioning body is responding by offering an olive branch in the form of a sleeker, sexy race car to entice the fans back to the stands. A car that hopefully will revive the "Win on Sunday, buy on Monday" mentality of fans so automakers and sponsors can continue to enjoy a return on investment in the sport. Rather than admitting their mistake in the Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR will begin filtering elements of the Nationwide cars back to the Cup model. The cockpit is expected to remain the same to maintain the integrity of the safer vehicle but the car will take on a sportier appearance. Currently, only Ford and Dodge will compete with models that differ from Cup. Despite Chevrolet rolling out the new Camaro to dealers, there doesn't seem to be an urgency to promote that brand or the Malibu in NASCAR other than for pace cars at this time. Toyota has discontinued its two-door Solara, so expect the Camry nameplate in NNS. The days when racers bought cars from the showroom floor, made a few modifications and were ready to race are over. But developing a car that appeals to both fans and manufacturers is a step in the right direction.

Answer:
Yes, yes, yes! Come on Pony's! I've been waiting for something like this.

Prices for tree removal vary greatly depending on where you live. You need to get out the yellow pages and make some calls for some bids.

I need a summer job but i don't know where to start?
Question:
I am 16 and live in Olive Branch, Mississippi. My mom wants me to get a job so that i can get a car. I am wondering if anyone knows places that will hire a sixteen year olds, where to start, and/or summer jobs in my area that you might now of? thanks in advance for any help

I don't know about your area in particular, but you should probably start out at local grocery stores or fast food joints. Sure, they may not be the best jobs in the world, but all you need to do right now is get yourself established and start getting money in your wallet.

When is it a good time to trim a tree?
Question:
Autumn is upon us and I need to trim my Russian Olive tree. There are a few branches hanging down that is making it impossible to mow and branches are starting to touch the cars in the driveway. Hard to believe just a couple of years ago it was at least 3 meters from the driveway. Oh well. So my question is: Would it be better to trim it in next spring when everything starts to grow, or now when everything is dying off for the winter?

Answer:
Trim when the tree is dormant !!! If you trim the tree in spring, when in sap, you may shock it and it may partially die off. Only trim new groth, preventing to cut into the old established wood. Good Luck.

How do I deal with a jerk, rude, landlord?
Question:
After texting my landlord last night with some requests, he texted back that he wasn't going to discuss anything over text. I responded and he never answered my response. This morning, he rang our doorbell with NO notice, again. He has made a habit of doing this. Usually when he does rings without notice, I am not dressed/in my robe, and not prepared for any guests in my house. He has also entered the apartment when we're not home, without notice, and sent maintenance people here without notice. So today, I just didn't answer the door. I listened through the door and heard him give me and my husbands PHONE numbers to a complete stranger, and also our SCHEDULES! I heard him say 'They're in there, they're cars are in the lot'. This is beyond privacy violation! We are not having any maintenance in our unit- I do not know any other reason or situation where it would be appropriate to give our numbers and schedules to strangers. We live in a large, crowded city. I don't want any stranger knowing my number and schedule! What is wrong with this guy? We have had problems with a stalker in the past, in this same building (a delivery person). It is NOT OK for the landlord to give our personal info away without reason. Not only is it a lack of consideration and manners, but against the law, as we are entitled to 24 hrs notice. Out of simple courtesy, so I can GET DRESSED, it would be nice to have some notice. This landlord responds to every passing comment, concern or suggestion with accusations, blames and lies. Every olive branch I've tried to extend to him, he has broken over his knee and thrown back in my face. I'm sick of being surprised by knocks, and feeling obligated to let him in. Why can't he call first? Is it so hard? How do I proceed from here?

Answer:
I've definitely been in a similar situation. My advice to you Is to simply look for another place to live. Talking with this person obviously won't help, and since you don't have any evidence of any of these things (i'm assuming) you can't take him to court for anything. Also, some good advice that will save you time, money and stress: no matter how pissed off you are at the land lord, no matter how much he has offended or violated you, DO NOT skip out on the rent or leave without a 30 day notice. he WILL take you to court and make your life miserable. Get some solid proof just in case. If it becomes too much to bear, just call the police. If you're the first to make a report/complaint about this idiot it will look better for you. Without any proof of any of his shenannigans, you have no case, and therefore should play by the rules and find another place to live. Ask a friend or family member for a loan if necessary...I'm sure you'd rather pay back a family member than an shady landlord anyway. If your timing is right, and you clean up the place really well, you might get your deposit back if you paid one. Another thing you can do is just "kill him with kindness" If you've been irritated with him in the past, let it go long enough to show him his shit doesn't bother you. Maybe it will stop long enough for you to get things figured out. Personally, I would just move. The security deposit can pay the last months rent. that's what it's for anyway, situations like this. Keep in mind, if you decide to do something like that, do NOT put him down as a reference on your next rental lease. i hope it helped some, i just wanted to share my thoughts because i've been there before myself. Good luck

Answer:
We went through a similar experience a few years ago with the landlord from hell, though ours was a realtor that actually owned the house. She would do the same things yours does. Enter without permission or giving 24 hours notice, constantly complaining about how we were maintaining the yard, etc. We developed a system where we could lock the front doors without altering them in any way, but she couldn't enter, and had a secret way to open the back door, again without causing a permanent change, but which allowed us the peace of mind knowing our home wasn't going to be violated without our presence. I knew we she wasn't going to renew the lease and we would have trouble getting our security deposit back, so we documented every instance of her violation of the law and threatened to report her to the Better Business Bureau, the Chamber of Commerce, the court of public opinion, and possible legal action. We got our entire security deposit back without even seeing our attorney to discuss the matter or going to the local newspaper here in suburban Chicago. I don't know what part of the law or simple human courtesy these people don't understand, but you have to stand up for your rights. If you're in a big city, and even if you aren't, there are renters rights groups that can help you with these creeps. A lot of them are like yapping dogs, in that if you turn around with intent to defend yourself, they'll stop biting at your ankles and run away. Once they see you won't be intimidated and will stand up for your rights, they'll at least do the minimum which is required by law - no one in your home without your presence and 24 hours notice prior to any visit. The landlord we have had for the past several years is a prince and we couldn't be happier with him, so good ones are out there, and especially in this economy, they should go out of their way to keep solid, dependable tenants. Make a list of every time he has violated the law, the lease, and common courtesy. Make a record of every rude, snide, or unprofessional comment he's ever made, and if you can, record your phone conversations, though in some states, this may require notification in order to be legal. Set up a camera if you can to record what he's up to in your home, but that may be more trouble than its worth. Let him know what you expect from him going forward. You know, following the law, obeying the terms of the lease, and what actions you are prepared to take. Look into getting legal representation, even if you don't actually retain an attorney, the mere threat of dealing with lawyers and the court system should be enough to make this bully do the right thing. A renter's rights group or other government agency could help you with this, as could something like Angie's List. There are lawyers who offer free consultations and all it should take is a letter from an attorney to the slimeball landlord in order for him to get the message that you will not accept anything but absolute compliance with the laws governing rental properties and what is spelled out in a standard lease. That under no circumstances is he to ever give out your phone numbers or especially your schedules without your permission. When we've had contractors work on our current house, we've been given their contact information and worked out a schedule with them ourselves, independent of the landlord, who normally doesn't get involved after setting up the work initially. Sometimes you're not dealing with the actual leaseholder, but a property manager who is used to treating everyone without respect or regard for the law, so if that's the case, contacting the person who owns the property might be an option. Sorry, I didn't mean to write a manifesto, but I get angry when I hear about these bastards who get away with intimidation and harassment. I can only imagine how these cretins treat people who may be new to the US, or don't speak English, so feel very strongly about standing up for the rights of the individual. We should feel safe in our own homes, even if we're only renters. We pay for the right to live there, follow the rules spelled out in the lease, and expect the leaseholder to do the same. It isn't too much to ask for that and some common courtesy even in a big city. I hope I've given you some actions you can take, or at least some encouragement, and that you get your crappy landlord straightened out. You don't have to take his unprofessional, illegal, and unacceptable behavior and if a threat to report him to everyone who will listen doesn't work, then seeking legal advice or representation might be your next step, though I don't expect it to come to that. Good luck, I hope he sees the error of his ways (though this is far from certain), and that your next landlord is a better one because that's what you and everyone else deserves.

Landlord Knocked Without Notice & Gave Our Numbers & Schedule To Strangers!!!?

Every olive branch I've tried to extend to him, he has broken over his knee and thrown back in my face. I'm not talking about legal stuff or going to court! I'm talking about how to LIVE and DEAL with this person? (what is wrong with the answerers in the real estate section?) The landlord lives above me, and he also manages his own buildings. This isn't a legal question, it is a 'how do you deal with people' question. It is RUDE to continually knock on people's doors without notice. This isn't a suburban area. The last time I ever heard of anyone going to someone's house and knocking on the door without calling first is when I was a little kid in a rural town., where people 'stopped by'. People don't 'stop by' in large, crowded, anonymous cities. AND this had nothing to do with maintenance. Nothing is being repaired in our Unit. I don't know who he gave our numbers to. We live in Los Angeles- its kind of a rough town. NO ONE should have been given my number and schedule without reason. We have had problems with a stalker in the past, in this same apartment building (a delivery p

Answer:
if u moved into a place where the LL lives upstairs, it's reasonable to expect you would be seeing him regularly. if he knocks at a bad time, don't open the door, or just tell him it's a bad time. apparently u have requested maintenance and he is trying to take care of it...ur being a little too high strung about this.

It's cute enough; it's a little plain though
